00:00 How important is it to give back to the community in this way for the police force?
00:04 Well it's very important because police and all our first responders, you know, we turn up to scenes, you know, traumatic and major incidents which in the end, you know, may result in people needing blood.
00:15 And I think the stats are something like 14 million people in Australia are eligible to give blood but only 500,000 do.
00:21 That's the first time I've ever given blood.
00:23 So, yeah, we'll see. Basically an hour out of your life which, you know, you might be helping people you don't know anywhere around Australia but you could also be helping out one of your family members that, you know, may become ill or involved in an incident where blood's needed.
00:36 I've had family members being involved in not only, you know, trauma-type incidents but in hospital, things like cancer, kidney treatments.
00:44 You know, it's used for a lot of things, people think trauma but it's, you know, blood and platelets and different things used for multiple medical conditions.
