00:00 Should the 49ers sign Dalvin Cook?
00:03 You know what?
00:06 Every time a big name becomes a free agent and he is a big name,
00:12 regardless of what he's done this year, he's only 28 years old.
00:15 Still, I would have been for Dalvin Cook if this was the off season,
00:21 maybe even a few games into the season, because I'm looking at it saying, wow,
00:24 if anybody can mimic CMC in this offense, it's Dalvin Cook.
00:29 Who's played in this offense before and done very, very well in this offense?
00:33 He's a good blocker.
00:35 He can run good routes.
00:36 He's a good pass catcher.
00:37 At one time was a very good runner.
00:39 Yes, absolutely.
00:42 I don't think so anymore.
00:44 I think this is one they absolutely should stay away from.
00:46 I look at Mason.
00:47 I like Mason better at this stage in his career.
00:50 I certainly like Mitchell better at this stage in his career.
00:53 I'm fine with the running backs that the 49ers have.
00:56 Now, I guess the argument against that could be, well, what if Dallas signs them?
01:02 Or what if the Ravens sign them?
01:03 I say, let them have them.
01:05 Let them have them.
01:06 Dalvin Cook doesn't scare me at this stage in his career.
01:09 I'm good.
01:09 I'd rather have Jordan Mason, Elijah Mitchell than Dalvin Cook at this stage.
01:13 But I think what's so interesting and instructive about the Dalvin Cook experience
01:17 is that he's only 28 and he's fallen off a freaking cliff.
01:21 The last four years from 2019 to 2022, 1,100 yards every year.
01:26 He had 1,500 yards in 2020, but at least 1,100 yards every year.
01:30 Even last year, 1,100 yards, eight touchdowns, 4.4 yards per carry.
01:35 He was good.
01:36 Now this year, 214 yards on 67 carries and 3.2 yards per carry.
01:43 So running backs fall off a cliff.
01:46 We see it all the time.
01:48 It's not when they hit 35 or 30.
01:51 A lot of times it's at 20.
01:52 It's around 28 years old.
01:54 - And look at Zeke.
01:54 - And well, how old?
01:57 I'm bringing that back to the 49ers.
01:59 - He's 27.
02:00 - Yeah.
02:00 And I'm not saying he's going to fall off a cliff next year, but I'm not saying he won't.
02:04 He just pulled his calf.
02:06 These things happen quickly.
02:08 I'm not saying that has to be careful with Christian,
02:10 but you have to understand that these things could be fleeting.
02:12 This could be the year.
02:14 This could be the last great year Christian McCaffrey has.
02:16 Or next year could be the last great year.
02:18 Don't take it for granted.
02:19 - No, you're absolutely right about that.
02:22 And I've been talking about it all year.
02:24 The fact that this year has to be a year that they win, because if I told you that CMC,
02:31 after all the touches he got this year at 27, turning 28 next year was going to lose it.
02:37 With the evidence that running backs tend to around this age,
02:42 you wouldn't be that surprised.
02:44 If I told you that George Kittle fell off next year, or Armstead was a shell of himself,
02:51 Trent Williams retired.
02:52 There's so many things that could happen.
02:55 You just never know.
02:56 I mean, we watched the 49ers team under Harbaugh completely lose all their best players overnight.
03:02 Unexpectedly.
03:04 - So they're like, "Who's the coach?"
03:06 - Right, right.
03:09 So that's it.
03:10 That's it.
03:10 So you have to take advantage of these situations.
03:13 This year is their best opportunity to get it done.
03:16 They have to get it done this year.
03:18 And you're right.
03:18 I don't think CMC will, but I mean, God, you can't predict these things.
03:22 When it happens, it happens like that.
03:24 And there's nothing you can do.
03:26 You see it happen all the time.
03:27 And I always go back to fighting MMA and boxing.
03:30 But you see it happen where fighters seem almost untouchable.
03:37 And then out of nowhere, they get shocked and knocked out.
03:41 And then everybody's knocking them out.
03:43 It's like, "How the hell did that?"
03:44 Saw it with Roy Jones, Anderson Silva, some all-time greats.
03:48 And you didn't see it coming.
03:50 And then when it happened, that was it.
03:52 It was over for them.
03:52 - I mean, this guy was as--
03:56 It wasn't long ago that I thought he was as good as--
03:59 He was like a top five running back in the league.
04:01 He could sort of do a little bit of everything.
04:03 And now, no one wants you.
04:07 You're done.
04:08 It's over.
04:08 And it's gone.
04:10 Okay, well--
04:14 - And based off of his season last season,
04:16 he was a coveted free agent.
04:18 When the Jets got him, it was like,
04:19 "Oh my God, the Jets with Aaron Rodgers and Dalvin Cook.
04:23 Are you kidding with Brees Hall?"
04:25 No, he's a shell of himself.
04:26 - Yeah.
04:27 All right, well, good luck, Dalvin.
04:29 Get some super chats.
04:30 Now we got you, Dave Barclay.
04:34 "Grant Cohn's content creator tree is deaf deeper."
04:37 - I think so.
04:39 - I think so, man.
04:41 So many talented people.
04:43 At least 15 people that don't even mess with me anymore
04:47 still got their start, and I'm proud of it.
04:50 Dave Barclay says, "Seen grown men run with 71 coming at them in Jacksonville."
04:54 71 is special.
04:56 "Nees says, 'Big Dom MVP. Eagles fell apart without him.'"
04:59 - Big Dom.
05:00 - It's true.
05:02 That is true.
05:03 There's a reason he was down there.
05:04 "Cooley says, 'Forget the Pro Bowl.
05:06 It's Super Bowl or bust if no chip, then clean house starting with banana hands.'"
05:09 I love it, Cooley.
05:10 Don't forget it.
05:13 - Grant's all for it.
05:14 He's like, "You can do anything else."
05:15 - I love it, man.
05:15 "Fire everyone.
05:16 Matt McEwen says, 'I'm late and just found out about BA.'"
05:18 It's upsetting.
05:19 I mean, for him.
05:20 Sorry.
05:22 "Allen from Kohl's says, 'Could Kyle split reps?'"
05:24 You can do whatever you want.
05:27 - Oh, yeah.
05:28 - Fish and Chip says, "Is there a hierarchy?
05:30 The presser?
05:31 Where are you at?"
05:31 Didn't I ask a question today?
05:35 I did ask a question today.
05:36 Ask Kyle about the Rams.
05:37 - I feel like I hear your voice on every press conference.
05:41 - I try to ask at least one question.
05:42 I try.
05:43 "Nice says, 'We talk negatively about our O-line outside of Trent, but everyone else
05:46 talks about how good our O-line is.
05:48 Why the inconsistency?
05:49 Byproduct of the system?'"
05:50 Well, let's just keep in mind, a lot of people said for years that Mike McGlinchey was really
05:54 good.
05:54 Broncos fell for it.
05:56 They must regret that contract a lot.
05:58 So maybe a lot of it is just PFF hyper or something.
06:00 - Well, there was a guy on Pat McAfee's show today talking about how great the offensive
06:05 line is.
06:07 And that gentleman also called McIvitts John McIvitts.
06:11 So that should tell you why there's a discrepancy.
06:14 - Who said that?
06:14 - I forget his name.
06:17 He's an offensive line guy.
06:18 He was breaking down the film.
06:20 He called him John McIvitts.
06:21 So if you're wondering why the inconsistency, maybe because they don't even know the player's
06:26 names.
06:26 That could be a part of it.
06:27 I'll just throw that out there.
06:28 - Okay.
06:29 All right.
06:29 All right.
06:31 Adam Gardiner says, "Yo, Grant, why are some of your viewers going at Larry lately?
06:35 What did he say?"
06:36 - I don't really understand the content creator wars.
06:41 And I try to stay above it.
06:42 But I think something about Brandon Ayuk.
06:45 I don't know.
06:46 Or maybe something about another content creator.
06:49 I don't know.
06:49 But you know what, Adam?
06:51 That's a better question for Larry.
06:52 Why are you trying to get me in the middle of stuff?
06:55 I see what you're doing, Adam.
06:56 You're a 999 instigator and I don't appreciate it.
06:58 - Yeah.
07:00 Why?
07:00 Hold on a second.
07:01 Why does it have to be?
07:03 Why does it have to be Grant's viewers as if he's sent them to go over there and start
07:08 some sort of war?
07:09 Maybe you should look at what that gentleman's saying on his platform and maybe you would
07:14 understand why.
07:15 - I don't even understand the question.
07:16 Yeah, Adam.
07:17 I don't know, man.
07:18 I'm not in charge of my viewers.
07:20 And plus, they're not my viewers.
07:23 These people watch all the content creators.
07:25 Isn't that true?
07:26 Not my viewers.
07:27 They're Niner fans who watch multiple shows.
07:30 Adam.
07:31 Dave Bart.
07:32 I mean, I feel like a lot of people watch me and Larry and Jesse and Ryan, right?
07:36 - I feel like you obviously were over there.
07:39 So you've been at both channels.
07:40 Are you a Grant viewer or a Larry viewer?
07:42 - I'm a Larry viewer, but I dabble with Grant a little bit.
07:46 Dave Barclay says, "If Dak doesn't play, does Trey or The Rush?"
07:50 - Dak has to play.
07:51 They, if they lose and Philly wins, I think Philly wins the division.
07:57 So Dak's going to play, I would assume.
07:58 - Who's Philly playing?
07:59 They're going to lose.
08:01 A team?
08:03 They're going to lose.
08:03 - They're giants.
08:06 They are probably going to lose.
08:07 - The giants will beat them because the giants are a team.
08:10 - If I was Philly, I would rest my starters.
08:13 I would take a week off and try to get it figured out.
08:16 - Yeah, don't take another shot to your confidence and ego.
08:19 Matt McKeown says, "Laugh my freaking ass off.
08:21 Someone in the chat said Jesse cost $600."
08:22 - Hold on, hold on, Matt.
08:24 To be fair, I did say, "Don't tail me.
08:28 I don't want any of that juju."
08:30 But however, I am going to take credit for those people that won.
08:34 I will take, but I take no credit for those of you that lost.
08:38 Do not tail me.
08:39 I am not betting myself.
08:41 I wouldn't expect you to bet and I don't want that responsibility.
08:44 Please do not do that.
08:45 - Official BNA Music Idiot says, "Brock's catty said Brock is going to prove you wrong."
08:50 I don't understand.
08:51 That one's above my head, man.
08:55 But I liked your, he did a electric guitar rendition of
09:00 - It was good.
09:01 - Yeah, it was great.
09:02 Anyway, Fish and Chips, "Other teams' platoon 2 running backs, not Lil' Shanny, no, no."
09:08 It does seem like there are five players that can dictate their own
09:13 playing time on the Niners and can pretty much are not coachable,
09:15 are coached.
09:17 Trent Williams, Christian Caffrey, George Kittle, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner.
09:23 That's the -
09:24 - Is that Shanahan's rap name?
09:25 If he was a rapper, is that what it would be?
09:27 - Lil' Shanny?
09:27 - Lil' Shanny.
09:28 - I think so.
09:29 - Shanny F, baby.
09:30 J Figs Ramone says, "Brock's A lock and it's purdy Cabo Click producing this year."
09:38 Brock's a lock and it's purdy Cabo Click producing this year.
09:41 Is Brock going to get invited to Cabo because he can't afford it?
09:44 How's that going to work?
09:45 - Oh, good question.
09:47 They'd have to pay for it, right?
09:48 - Yeah.
09:49 I'd like to know how they're going to work that out because they got to bring Brock.
09:52 They got to figure that out.
09:53 He can have guest suites.
09:55 - I don't know why Brock seems like he's above the riffraff.
09:58 He wouldn't show up even if he was invited.
10:00 He's like, "No, I'm going to hang out with my future wife."
10:03 - Dave Barclay says, "I watch you, Jesse and Ryan."
10:06 - I appreciate it, Dave.
10:08 Thank you.
10:09 Nick Hutchinson said, "Brock had no Pro Bowl wide receivers.
10:11 No help."
10:12 - It's true.
10:13 - It's true.
