00:00 It's almost like you look at like a perfect guy would be like what Garnett Hathaway was last year, right?
00:04 Like yes, that's gonna perfect gonna play 11 12 minutes, but give you a seven hits
00:10 Making like some plays there like that's kind of exactly a guy that
00:14 Would make sense for for what they would maybe target in terms of like, all right
00:18 Maybe don't look at the you know, Elias Lindholm's those kind of players
00:21 If it's an ancillary guy that can elevate in a lineup where I think there is more to give
00:25 Maybe that's who you realistically targeted
00:28 And
00:30 Welcome in to poke the bear episode
00:39 19 - I'm Evan Maranofsky. That's Connor Ryan Connor. What is up, Evan?
00:47 I'm doing well, how you doing doing great doing great. That's getting close to
00:51 200 200 episodes that'd be incredible
00:56 Hopefully we will get to 200. Hopefully the show doesn't they don't cancel us by in eight shows
01:00 I'm hoping they don't I would hope not that'd be very anticlimactic. I would say
01:04 We just we get canceled before
01:06 What they let us get to 200
01:09 But anyways, how was your new year? How did you how'd you bring it in? I don't think we've spoken since yeah
01:15 Happy new year to you too Evan not a lot going on. I'm not a big New Year's Eve fan. Anyway, I'm not paying
01:22 $60 to go into a crowded bar to get kovat to pay
01:26 $20 for a shitty cocktail that was pre-made before it makes me sound extremely old
01:32 I know but you do yeah, but I I don't I don't enjoy New Year's Eve that much like either
01:38 Yeah, you post up got a movie marathon going or yeah, like go over a pal's house something like that
01:44 We'd a few people under the weather
01:46 On New Year's Eve. So stayed at home watched a few movies watch Bobby first time
01:51 Oh, what'd you think? I thought it was enjoyable
01:55 Like it's one of those ones where people I think either read too much into it
01:59 Oh, this is what it's trying to say. Maybe it's just like an enjoyable fun movie
02:02 You can read into whatever you want, which is what it's what a movie should be
02:05 You can interpret it however you want. It's a fucking movie. You should have fun. So it was fun
02:10 That's what movie should be Evan. I agree with you. I saw Barbie
02:14 I know the YouTube commenters are gonna lose their shit over us
02:18 This before we get to brew and stuff. I saw Barbie back
02:21 When it first went digital, I didn't see it in the theater and
02:26 My girlfriend I bought it on I think it was Amazon for like 30 bucks because we wanted to see it
02:32 And you know, we just wanted to see it and it was fine. I agree with you. It was a fun movie
02:36 You know wasn't Oppenheimer wasn't like a it wasn't a cinematic masterpiece by any means
02:41 It was fine
02:43 But then you know, what's funny though, like you mentioned a quiet New Year's Eve
02:48 And I'm getting to that point too. Now. I didn't do that this year
02:51 I went down to visit my girlfriend and she was she went back home to Long Island for like a month
02:56 So we went to New York City. So I was like, oh no like New York City on New Year's Eve
03:00 That's that's a recipe for disaster
03:02 It wasn't that bad actually and we did pay I think was $89 for a for a bar
03:10 It was a ticket but but but we did get unlimited drinks and food. Okay, they had food. It was free
03:16 it's fine so like they gave out platters of burger sliders and calamari and
03:21 An alligator was on there and what was the other thing?
03:25 I'm at the fucking dry chicken. We at the fucking rainforest cafe
03:28 We're at the hard rock cafe
03:32 No, no, it was not the house place called alligator pair. It was quirky little like, you know, I'm Brandon. Yeah, it was
03:40 That's why they gave an alligator
03:42 but it was cool and it was I was like, you know what for like a bunch of burger sliders and fried chicken and
03:47 Drinks and whatever like it was worth it and it wasn't that bad getting in and out. So
03:52 But I agree with you. I'm with you on that
03:55 My ideal New Year's Eve would be like chillin a couple friends
03:58 Watching like I think you should leave or something like of course, that'd be my ideal New Year's
04:02 but
04:04 anyways
04:06 Lots of action this week with the Bruins mainly on Thursday night
04:10 Bruins Penguins in Boston and in Pittsburgh never really disappoints. Those are always good games. Yeah
04:15 I mean you look at the game last year
04:17 It's probably the first game where I think a lot of Bruins fans realize you probably
04:20 In line for pretty special season that one on the road where they come back
04:24 I think three goals down and that one as well
04:26 Yeah, I'm into wins in an OT every time they play again
04:29 You look at the talent on both these teams makes plenty of sense
04:32 But yeah, if you're a casual fan, especially going to that game, that'd be like the perfect if you'd run to a hockey game
04:37 Like that'd be a perfect one to go to it in terms of just how back and forth it was how wild it was
04:43 I agree. I remember this was many years ago now like 2017 ish
04:47 The Bruins played the Penguins and it was like 7-4 or something and that was the game the chara had like a three-minute shift
04:54 and then fought
04:55 Who was it? He fought Alexiak. Yes. It was Jamie Alexiak. He fought Alexiak at the end of the shift
05:01 So I always I'm always like Penguins Bruins is always good like a Bruins Penguins playoff series would be awesome
05:06 Because you just know it has all the the fixins, you know
05:10 It's got all the fixins of a good of a good series, but the Bruins lose 6-5
05:15 on Thursday night I
05:17 Bruins come back from three goals
05:21 Lose late tough one, but still, you know showed some fight getting back into it
05:27 But the big thing and you know kind of goes back to this like the offense showed up
05:32 The defense did not was not the best defensive game and those defensive wolves kind of keep hindering the Bruins a bit
05:39 Yeah, and it's I think especially frustrating because as you said the offense has been there since really the holiday break
05:45 I mean they've scored over four goals and all five of their games since coming out of that little lull
05:50 So you've had a lot of guys contributing
05:51 I mean you look at this past game Martian and pasta not cat kind of take over games
05:55 but you look at the amount of
05:57 other key contributors further than the lineup who are kind of on a little bit of a roll here now like
06:02 Morgan geeky had three points on Thursday DeBrus extended his point streak
06:07 You had the game in Columbus where you know JBR Heinen
06:11 Frederick had a really strong game together like your offense is there and in most situations the way this team is built you score five
06:17 Goals, you should be able to walk away. You should win pretty pretty easily. So
06:23 Yeah, just a lot
06:25 That needs to be fixed in the D zone, especially and I think they've been pretty strong since the holiday break
06:30 I mean no shit. They've won. They won four straight going into that game
06:33 But the same things we keep on seeing right like either trying to force plays and it's leading to odd man rushes
06:39 Way too many one-and-done opportunities in the ozone, which again if you
06:44 Are one and done and all sudden you got
06:46 Sydney Crosby and Jake Denzel going, you know an odd man rush back towards you
06:51 Not a lot of goalies gonna stop that as soon as that happened. I was like, well, alright
06:54 Well, this game's gonna go out of hand very quickly and then you know, it's funny wait Connie
06:58 Oh, it's kind of funny for that game. I was home and I was watching the first couple minutes, you know, I saw
07:05 Who score it was Posh Tucker Martian scored the first the first Bruins go I saw March and had the first goal
07:11 I saw that then I'm like, you know what? I'm gonna cook a hello fresh real quick. I honest to God
07:15 I'm not just like, you know, not saying that for this or anything
07:17 I was gonna go cook and I and I go back in the room and it's like 3 2 and I'm like
07:23 What happened I I was I left for like 10 minutes
07:25 And so yeah, I agree with you and in probably in real time
07:29 They've probably scored another five goals, but the ESPN broadcast was so fucking delayed
07:33 It was insane
07:34 Like I felt bad because like I try not to be the spoiler on Twitter
07:39 but like when it's like a minute and 30 seconds between what's actually playing out in front of me and like what the broadcast is showing like
07:45 It I think ESPN is the one that are broadcasting the Stanley Cup final this year
07:50 I think they go back to both Turner and ESPN. They do that point
07:54 You can't fucking have that happen
07:56 like you can't have that far no way when you got like especially with like
08:00 Like betting and all these things on top of like just the overall fan experience
08:05 You're set you're set you're texting me like like posh doctor squirt. I'm like, oh
08:08 They must have a lock against I think they must have a lot
08:13 Yeah, but even just like the overall experience like, you know
08:15 What's gonna happen when you're in a game and I drop the the pasta
08:20 Video like for an OT winner like a minute before it actually happens gonna be people right?
08:26 Palm this right view who enjoy having that tension being taken out of a live viewing but a lot of people that don't so you
08:32 Get a fix that if you're a spin, but I digress
08:34 But well, I think it's like I like I have Bruins tweet tweet notifications on so like I'll be watching the game at home
08:42 like on the road or whatever and I look at my phone and it's like to notification from the Bruins and it's like like
08:47 like
08:49 Shit and it's like on behind, you know, and now I know it's Cummings. It's like, oh, all right
08:57 Well, how does I mean I guess I can get ready to clip it, but I'm like, oh, you know
09:01 I wish I wish there was that bit of surprise
09:03 It's like that that Twitter meme where it's the guy like playing the video game and it's like the photo and that's him leaning forward
09:09 That's like when you get that notification like oh, I should really intently watch this shift because I do know what's what's happening next
09:15 So but yeah defense anyway, we're getting off topic here a lot left to be desired there
09:21 especially I think the net front was something that
09:23 Again, Pittsburgh's a pretty desperate team, but way too many
09:27 Easy looks like Drew O'Connor had a tap-in goal to start it for them
09:31 Just not doing nearly enough to make life easier for swimming who again wasn't really shopping that game
09:36 You got six goals that tends to be the case but also like when you look at the guys the personnel in front of swimming
09:42 That should be snuffing out. Some of those scoring chances just wasn't there at all in that game against Pittsburgh
09:48 No, and and that second period was bad
09:50 I think you know when you come out looking like that and then that front is as bad as it was and just
09:55 The D zone breakdowns. I mean even that Jake Gensel breakaway that hit the post
09:59 And you know, like they just couldn't break it out of their own zone and like, you know
10:03 McAvoy had some ups and some downs on Thursday night
10:07 But I thought his best play was the the geeky goal where he just said yeah screw it
10:11 I'm just gonna take it myself and just go you know
10:14 and I think that was the biggest thing was they just
10:16 And that's kind of a the theme with this Bruins defense even going back to last year against the Panthers where like they just
10:22 They have trouble with pressure and I wonder when that's gonna stop
10:26 You know, when is that gonna kind of be fixed? Because if that's a continuing problem like I
10:32 Mean your goalies can be as good as they want if you're consistently turning the puck over or having a problem breaking the puck out
10:38 of your own zone
10:39 You're gonna be giving up odd man rushes like fucking business. So like that's to me like that's worrisome now
10:47 I know that they've looked fine the last couple games since the the Christmas break so like whatever but I still go back to like
10:53 Against a good team like Pittsburgh on a big stage where your offense shows up. It's just you know
10:59 It's it's a it's a disappointment when you give up six goals and a lot of it just goes to like defensive inefficiencies
11:05 but
11:07 Anyways before we get on with our conversation a quick word
11:11 Connor a quick word from our friends over at

12:21 Yeah us and Finland
12:25 Or Sweden, I think it's Sweden. I'm a lot of stuff. You got a lot pissed off Swedes now
12:31 Shit, he's disrespecting us
12:33 But are you gonna watch any of that? Yeah, of course. Yeah
12:38 Figured I don't know why I said you just I don't know why I thought you might say no
12:43 I will not watch Team USA. No, I
12:47 Take my team Canada's out. Yes, I cannot stand Team USA hockey. Yeah
12:54 But that yeah
12:56 That's gonna be a crazy clip
12:58 But yeah, that should be interesting again. We're recording this before so we don't have results or reaction to it
13:03 Unfortunately shadow Lane Hudson
13:05 Yeah, Lane Hudson and shout out Will Smith and Ryan Leonard mass kids. So go with them
13:11 I know I know I know but still mass kids
13:14 Speaking of young players
13:18 Speaking of young players is a perfect segue into our next thing
13:21 It's been an issue that a lot of people have been talking about is the the usage of the young players on the Bruins
13:27 Not on the world juniors team because the young players they all are young players
13:31 But with the Bruins on Thursday night
13:36 Merkulov
13:39 Lauco Steen
13:41 Didn't get a ton of time at the end of the game or the third period same with low rye
13:46 So some are saying oh, you know it
13:49 Montgomery's got to use them more and this and that what what do you make of this?
13:53 I mean, is this gonna be a long-term issue for them?
13:56 Yeah, I mean, I think within the context of this game against the Penguins right like Laura I plays 823
14:02 He was a - 3 did not look very good
14:05 So I can see why you're that was more of I think like a disciplinary like we gotta you pull you from this game
14:11 And again, you look at the the fourth line of you know, Steen murky love and beacher
14:16 I think natural stature I had them down the Penguins I
14:19 Attempted the Bruins 7-0 when they were on the ice together. So not a good day from them either
14:24 So I get why you have you know, Laura I playing a 23 you had murky love playing
14:28 6 23 beacher 610 like I get it in that context, but it's also been kind of a
14:34 Trend I think especially where quite a few of these games
14:39 You're seeing a lot of key players for this team getting taxed pretty heavy minutes
14:44 I mean just look at this game against Pittsburgh right like and bus Lint own 29 13 Charlie McEvoy 26 27, you know
14:51 Pasternak yes, but like Pablo Zaca
14:53 2141 right like grizzly
14:57 2052 like you've got quite a few guys that you're gonna have to rely on heavily who are
15:02 Already getting taxed pretty heavily minutes. That's not to say that you know in a perfect world you play the beacher line
15:08 Fucking a 14 minutes a night or anything like that, right?
15:12 Like that's but you know, you put them on for the final minute to score a goal
15:15 Yes, but like you look in and that trend of guys getting limited to those minutes
15:20 again a game here there it's whatever but when you get to
15:25 You know February and March in April and you've got these guys a lot of these veteran players who are supposed to be your
15:31 your key pieces who were
15:33 Playing, you know over 20 minutes a night. That's when it kind of adds up
15:37 that's when you need to I think be cognizant of stuff like that, so
15:41 as much as you know
15:43 the people wanted to maybe cast this year is a
15:45 Bridge year transition year like when you're first place I get that you're trying to bank as many points as possible
15:51 but still you look to see a little bit more of maybe a leash or a little bit more of a leeway for some of
15:56 these younger players and I think
15:58 especially
15:59 Again, he's probably going down to Providence in a couple of days
16:01 But like Georgie Murkulov who again has he like really, you know
16:06 Flashed up here during this time not necessarily but for some of these games, right?
16:11 Like he's been the fourth line center playing six minutes a night
16:14 It's like again
16:16 You want to have these younger players kind of earn their roles would have you but like murky loves not a four seat like Johnny
16:21 Beach house like murky love he plays one game in a third line spot
16:25 doesn't you know generate a
16:28 Shot on goal, but does the few things right and then he like goes and plays, you know
16:33 A bad team in Columbus on the fourth line, but no, I think when you look at
16:37 Georgie murky love in particular
16:40 For a guy who's been up here for a couple of games and it's probably gonna get sent back down to the HL
16:44 None of the Patras on his way back. I just think it's a tough spot to put a guy like him in where
16:50 You know, he's not necessarily a fourth line player and he's been on the fourth line the last couple of games playing
16:56 Six seven minutes a night and again, it's not to say that you should put maybe an offensive
17:02 You know a playmaker like him in a top six roll right out of the gate. You gotta earn your spot, but
17:07 To you know play one game in the third line
17:10 Then he go to place Columbus a very bad team on the road where all right
17:14 if there's ever a game for him to be on like a
17:16 Middle six spot playing
17:18 11 12 minutes a night, right?
17:20 That seems to be it to go in a fourth line a lot of D zone starts playing six seven eight minutes a night
17:27 Just doesn't really do a lot for you know
17:30 Catering to his skill set and all of a sudden, you know
17:32 He's going back down to the HL getting back to the seven eight hour bus rides to like Utica in Cleveland
17:38 And it's like alright. Yeah, you're up here a few games, right?
17:41 It's all well and good but in terms of building that confidence and kind of just continue to build your game
17:47 Didn't seem like it was the the most successful stint for him and again, maybe some of that's on him
17:52 But I also think we look at just putting a guy in a best situation to succeed
17:56 And I think it's really been the case so far for him
17:58 Yeah, it's funny like last or Thursday night
18:01 I saw like Ty Anderson tweet Bruins effectively played with nine forwards and 5d tonight
18:06 Low rice Dean beat your merc you'll off all under nine minutes low rye
18:09 Who had an ugly night had the most at 829?
18:13 Tough to effectively lean on your big guns for 40 minutes when chasing the entire way
18:17 So in a game like last night, I'm fine with them shortening the bench now. I don't think nine forwards is that bad?
18:23 You know rolling those guys 5d. I have no problem with that against the Penguins, right home game
18:28 Good team trying to get points that makes sense. I agree with you though
18:32 over the long term against team like Columbus
18:35 That is a good spot to try out guys like Merkul off and and and give them a little bit of a longer leash
18:40 I think it hits noted a different issue and that's their fourth line is entirely
18:45 Rookies, I mean and I think that you know for a team that's in first place in the Atlantic who's fighting for you know
18:54 The you know keep their spot fighting off teams like Florida and Toronto as well as compete with teams like the Rangers and Carolina
19:02 It's hard
19:04 I think as a coach to have faith in a fourth line made up of entire of entirely young guys like
19:10 100% you need to use your full lineup. I mean that it's the modern NHL everybody, you know
19:15 You've got to use everybody guys get tired
19:17 I know they're professional athletes, but you're right come February in March when it's sort of the dog days
19:22 Which were unfortunately kind of about to enter you get tired and when the playoffs come around you don't want to be tired because that's
19:28 When you're gonna go full throttle
19:29 I think it hits a kind of a
19:31 Sort of a not a roster. I'm kind of a roster issue in that they have young guys on that fourth line and
19:37 You do want to get them playing?
19:40 But as I said, it's it's this thing we keep talking about the the battle of what are you?
19:45 What is your team? Are you a young team?
19:48 That's trying to get guys going or are you winning and they've done both I said this on my mailbag
19:53 It's not out yet, or maybe it is by the time this podcast is out
19:56 But I said the Bruins like that Ben Affleck picture where he's holding the dunks all together, right?
20:01 Like they're trying to hold it together
20:03 They got the young you like Patra and Beecher and Merkulof and then you got you know
20:06 You're veterans who you're trying to win with and you're just you're just barely kind of
20:11 well, and you're just hoping it doesn't spill out all over the all over the concrete and
20:16 Yeah, if those older guys get tired you have a real problem, but I just I don't know. It's hard
20:23 You you almost need some veterans better something better than Patrick Brown to play with those guys down there
20:31 I'm what I'm curious if this becomes a deadline acquisition where they go out and get someone or
20:36 One or two pieces who could potentially play on that fourth line who are who are veterans, you know, I I don't know
20:44 Yeah, it's almost like you look at like a perfect guy would be like what Garnett Hathaway was last year, right?
20:50 Like yes, that's gonna perfect gonna play 11 12 minutes
20:54 But give you a seven hits making like some plays there
20:57 Like that's kind of exactly a guy that would make sense for for what they would maybe target in terms of like
21:03 All right, maybe don't look at the you know, Elias Lindholms those kind of players
21:06 If it's an ancillary guy that can elevate in a lineup where I think there is more to give
21:10 Maybe that's who you realistically target especially with we've talked about it before the cap and all those other kind of hurdles facing them
21:18 Yeah, I just the usage. I'm not I'm not worried about it yet because I just think that the roster
21:25 like I'm not ready to throw Montgomery under the bus quite yet with this stuff because I just think that winning is the priority and
21:32 Let's face it. I don't know if if
21:34 You know
21:36 Blanco Beecher and Steen are going to you know, okay, you know deliver you to the promised land quite yet
21:43 I think they're good. I think they have promise but just as of right now
21:46 It's hard to justify
21:49 Roland with nine four or it's hard to go against rolling with nine forwards in the in the back half of a third period of a
21:56 Close game, but you know, what is never
21:58 You know, it's always easy to justify Connor using our friends over at factor meals. You want something quick?

23:12 calm splash poke 50 to get 50% off
23:16 For people who watch on YouTube those videos are so well done like
23:23 Really are
23:26 So especially that great voiceover work - Oh
23:30 Melodic. Oh my god. I was just you know, like woo in my feels over here. Yes
23:35 Matt Potter returns from the world juniors
23:38 Where does he slot in on if you were Jim Montgomery? Where does he slot?
23:43 I'm almost hitting the point now where I wonder if you start him off on the wing just to get him back in the lineup
23:49 That's not to say that he doesn't you know fit down the middle
23:52 Of course, he's you envision him as a top six sentiment of the future
23:54 But I think you got a lot of guys that are actually playing pretty well down the middle right now that maybe you let
24:00 Them let them cook for a little bit and then when again you guys hit the expected lull
24:04 Then you you shift Potter back in I mean you look at like
24:07 Morgan geeky had a three-point game. I think he's been really playing well, especially over the last couple of weeks
24:12 We've talked about like you want to keep coiling printed together, but like Frederick's been really good
24:18 I think over the last couple of games with Heinen in JVR. So
24:22 it's a good problem, I think for Jim Montgomery and the Bruins to have right because I
24:27 Think you also have to find the best way to get a guy like Patra, you know up and running quickly
24:32 So maybe that takes the real precedent here where all right, like Frederick's been good down the middle
24:37 but move move pieces around again get Patra back and playing at a high level because I think you need him playing confidently and
24:44 Playing well just because of how valuable he can be further down the lineup
24:48 but it's a great problem for the Bruins to have because I think as we've said all year the the
24:55 Talent down the middle has been very strong this year and it's been the case even one Patra who's been one of their biggest biggest
25:01 surprises
25:02 Has been out but again if you want this team to be playing at its highest level
25:06 You need a guy like Patra with his skill set to really make the most this second half run
25:11 I think maybe it's you have to find the best landing spot for him once he gets back because he's already mentioned
25:17 You know being disappointed about world juniors, but being very motivated and being probably quite pissed about how that tournament ended for him
25:24 so
25:26 Getting him back up and running is gonna be key for this team. It's just an added level of you know
25:31 Reinforcements for the second half. Yeah, I prefer him at center over the wing overall. I don't hate though the idea of
25:38 Just giving him a shot. I mean I again I'd rather him be at center
25:42 I I wouldn't mind if Frederick went back to wing and you put Patra in the middle
25:50 Potentially cuz geek you're right. He has worked up top
25:53 And if you wanted to go with some sort of you know, JBR
25:57 Patra Frederick, I would be curious or you know, then you got Heinen - maybe Heinen
26:02 Kind of what we just mentioned Heinen maybe finds a spot on that fourth line is sort of a veteran ish presence
26:09 But again, I agree with you. It's a good problem to have
26:12 Didn't think would be saying that this year about the center position Morgan geeky
26:17 You know really you were on that so early credit to you. You were you were all over
26:22 You're like a you're like a weather forecaster who gets a snowstorm, right? You were like this Morgan geek
26:27 He's coming from Seattle his cold fronts
26:29 I mean
26:29 He's pretty hot his hot fronts are pretty crazy and they're gonna you know
26:32 You're gonna have to shovel a lot with him and this and that and he's fit in great. So
26:36 Props to you Connor. I try prop. I try props to you. You should get a spot in the all-star game
26:43 You should get all of her Bjork strand spot in the all-star game
26:45 That's what you should man was man was fucking livid that he had to go
26:48 Again, I I don't blame you
26:52 Yeah, I'd be the same way. I you know, I always think like when I was little I was like
26:56 Oh star games are the coolest, you know, you get to go and this thing now and in the NBA, it's big
27:01 It's in I think it's in Vegas like it's or is it in Vegas? I don't even know where it is this year
27:05 I'm gonna be fucking Toronto. Oh, no, I mean the NBA. Oh, I'm sorry
27:11 Uh, I think so. I actually don't even know where it is
27:14 But they are a lot more like they'll pick random places though
27:18 Like I think was it last year two years ago was like the was it the 50th or like the hundredth anniversary or something?
27:24 It was some big enter. I think maybe 75th anniversary the NBA and they had all these legends here and I was in fucking Cleveland
27:30 How you don't know like a Madison Square Garden or something like that like
27:37 Yeah, I agree like but so the NBA it matters those players care about the all-star games and all-star births
27:44 NHL I
27:46 And so I think for a lot of veteran players and I get the Bjork strand
27:50 You could either go on vacation with friends or family for like four days
27:54 to a nice warm place and just sit on a beach or you go to Toronto and
27:59 and be your team representative and go play and you know a three-on-three and you know dink around with some skills like I
28:07 There's such it's such an easy choice. I do feel bad for Bjork strand
28:11 No, but it's like one of those things where if you were going to the all-star break
28:16 Like if you imagine if you like have like a family vacation lined up
28:21 Maybe it's not like the the nicest spot or you know, it's not like a premier destination
28:26 But it's like a nice family trip to the Cape a getaway. Yeah, nice getaway and like your work is like hey, man
28:31 Congratulations. We got a paid for trip to Las Vegas
28:35 but it said I like a conference you're like
28:38 Okay, I mean like yeah the Bellagio is nice. It's I don't have to pay for it, but gonna go to like a
28:45 Convention Center and I don't want to fucking do this shit like again, it's one of those or again you you do it
28:50 It's part of the job
28:51 But I think a lot of you guys would much rather just have their own vacations to pick from
28:55 yeah, so I
28:57 Get that and I completely agree with it that work conference in Vegas. Oh, that'd be you know
29:03 They have a motivational speaker who's like come on guy. This is your part your purpose and yeah, you're passion and like this
29:09 It's like shut up. Yeah, you fucking Tony Robbins teach you on a walk on coals
29:13 I know I'd rather just be it like in Weymouth. I don't know. I'd rather be done like a dentist
29:17 We know it's funny like all these coaches who win these national championships the year after they win
29:30 They get paid to tons of money to go to those
29:33 conferences and speak and just give speeches about you know, how
29:37 Like like an insurance company will bring in like Greg Carville after he wins, you know
29:42 the the Nat Knoche National Championship and to talk about your motivation and stuff and I'm thinking like what's the
29:48 What's the correlation here? You know like I?
29:51 Must be missing something
29:53 I think one time my dad went to one it was like for like like a mail handlers union and it was in Las Vegas
29:59 And Magic Johnson was the keynote speaker like how the fuck what is that Johnson gonna tell you like it's cool
30:04 Like don't get me fucking wrong
30:06 But like he's gonna be like you get it like he does like yes, I just gigantic like packages and does like behind
30:11 the
30:13 Spin like like the keynote the guy like introing him. He like dunks on him like yeah
30:23 Absolutely, he's just throwing like in like just throwing Stanley Cups like
30:28 Like a 9 a.m. I like a 9 a.m. Like everyone's like half asleep
30:34 Anyway, you were probably hungover just getting like Stanley Cups just rocketed
30:39 It's like if you did Magic Johnson's the keynote speaker if you like
30:42 Gave speeches like he tweets where he's like the US Postal Service
30:46 delivers the mail
30:49 Yes, we know
30:50 They like they are an important part of society. It's like oh, yes. Thanks magic the right notes down
30:56 That was new information
30:59 But anyway, I've been around about way
31:04 Should the Bruins have another all-star game representative they have Poster knock rightfully so
31:09 Poor boss, I'm gonna go to Toronto
31:13 Should they have anybody he does he does not today not today Justin, but should any other players?
31:19 Get the nod. Yeah, I mean, I think Jeremy I think Jeremy Swin makes a lot of sense, right?
31:24 I mean even I guess it's bad timing after you give up six goals
31:28 But I think he's been one of the best goalies in the in the league this year
31:31 And I think especially for maybe a guy who's could be a first-year all-star. I think that'd be a nice a nice nod for him
31:37 Beyond the I'm sure a lot of other guys like a March and or a McAvoy probably would enjoy also probably having that
31:44 You know break so having it be a first-year guy probably the novelty of in the honor of getting that
31:51 For you the first time probably something I think wouldn't be lost on a guy like Swainman
31:55 So I think I'd be voting I'd be rooting for him. I would say
31:58 Agreed Swainman's the guy so he's the only guy really and I think as a veteran
32:02 I think that's you know, I mean as a as a younger player
32:05 I think what you just said right like first time big deal. That's the guy who should go
32:11 You know, right or like the the Frank Petronas of the world like that's a cool thing that he made it good for Frank like awesome
32:18 So I agree
32:20 Should be Swainman if any other Bruin goes
32:24 And then Swainman can give the keynote speech at like, you know
32:27 The the UBS up in Toronto or like the the headquarters at Tim Hortons. He can give a nice little speech after the all-star game
32:34 Anyways, Connor, what can the people look forward to from you over at the globe and Boston comm?
32:39 Yeah, we're gonna be covered every step of the way whether it's a game recaps features columns all that good stuff
