00:03 >> So long, I've been covering this team for a little while and
00:06 I just feel like this feels different.
00:08 This end of the season feels different.
00:10 >> Yeah. >> Than last year.
00:11 Am I right to suggest that?
00:13 >> Yeah, it's the best morale of a team that I've been on,
00:17 wherever we've been in the last three players, for sure.
00:21 You're never happy when the season ends at any point unless,
00:23 typically only one team is happy in the end.
00:25 But just based off where this team is at right now and
00:29 the feeling about where we're headed, it's definitely a better feeling.
00:34 >> Why is that, do you think?
00:36 >> I mean, cuz we got a lot to look forward to, I think.
00:38 We've shown that we can be a really good team, and a really good team.
00:44 So I think just the potential of this squad is what's kind of keeping our minds
00:48 at a good place.
00:49 >> Devonta, you guys have been adamant that you wanna see Antonio Pierce and
00:53 Champ Kelly get retained.
00:54 Do you feel like today was sort of a statement to let somebody know?
00:56 >> For sure.
00:57 I mean, I think they've done a lot of work.
00:59 I don't think they necessarily need it today, but this was a stamp.
01:02 I mean, you hear the fans, you hear the crowd and the way they respond to it.
01:06 And it's clear that he's changed the culture, and he's definitely deserving it.
01:12 >> You ever seen something like that, where the fans are changing coaches,
01:14 they aim like that?
01:15 >> I haven't, that's the first time I've seen.
01:16 I've heard them boo coaches for sure, and I've never heard it like that before.
01:21 It's usually a quarterback situation or something like that.
01:24 >> How much of a testament is that to him about how much he's not only galvanized
01:27 you, but the fan base as well?
01:28 >> Yeah, I mean, like I said, he embodies what it means to be a Raider.
01:31 He's got the same swag, the aura, the way he talks, the way he's done it,
01:36 all of the things that represent being a Raider.
01:38 So I think he's the guy.
01:40 >> How much of a testament are you hoping that the players have when it comes to
01:43 hiring him as a coach for the next season?
01:46 Like the players' word and what the players have to say,
01:48 how much do you hope that influences the press?
01:50 >> I mean, definitely hope it does.
01:52 I mean, I don't know how much he means to them.
01:56 It's definitely different levels to the players' contribution to how things are
02:01 gonna go is not always gonna just go a certain way just because everybody,
02:05 but the right people to speak into him, trying to figure out what he's gonna do
02:10 moving forward, I think there's a solid chance.
02:13 It's based off of what we've all seen, the way it's felt.
02:17 >> What do you think the key is to make these types of outcomes more than
02:22 normal next year?
02:23 >> More what?
02:24 >> More than normal.
02:25 >> Just establishing who you are early in the season,
02:30 that way you can kinda carry that throughout the rest and
02:32 you're not trying to find your identity three quarters away through the season.
02:36 Or halfway through it.
02:39 By that time, usually, unless you snuck away with a couple victories early on,
02:42 which is hard to do if you're not playing good ball.
02:44 So we just gotta be more consistent early on.
02:47 I think that'll help us establish who we wanna be.
02:49 >> Cool.
02:52 >> Thank you.
02:53 (laughter)
