00:00 Well, congratulations on this film. I feel like everyone's been waiting for it.
00:03 The anticipation was building. How exciting is it to be here tonight?
00:07 Unbelievably exciting. I mean, we've worked so hard alongside so many talented people
00:12 to make this happen, so we're excited to finally share it.
00:15 And of course, this is an adaptation from stage to screen, so were there any big changes
00:21 or updates that you had to make for the movie musical?
00:23 Yeah, I mean, we just tried to make it its own thing, you know?
00:27 Like, the movie is fantastic. The 2004 movie is fantastic. The Broadway show is fantastic
00:32 as well. Like, we wanted it to be its own experience. And so we just want, like, we're
00:39 excited for people to finally see it, you know?
00:42 In the trailer, we didn't get to see any musical numbers. Do you know if there was a reason
00:47 why that was kind of kept under wraps?
00:49 It's not up to us, but it does leave a lot of room for surprise, so we're excited for
00:54 people to finally see it in its totality.
00:59 And I know that in the trailer, they also say, "This isn't your mother's Mean Girls."
01:03 So how do you think that this movie is really going to connect to a new generation?
01:08 I mean, being that it's 20 years later, social media didn't exist in 2004, and now kids have
01:14 this whole new other dimension to their lives where girls can be mean. So it's a very different
01:21 landscape that kids are dealing with now. I do not envy them. But we tried to make it
01:25 as relatable to them as possible, and also with...
01:27 We use the same language. Like, a lot of these sequences are meant to be as if they're shot
01:33 on the phone, you know? So, like, kind of speak the language that we're all speaking,
01:38 you know?
01:39 And finally, how was it working with these new group of girls and this cast? And was
01:44 there a particular musical number or scene that you enjoyed shooting over the others?
01:49 First of all, this cast is unbelievable. Like, it's incredible.
01:54 We can't wait for the world to see them together. It's a dream cast.
01:59 Hi, Ellen!
02:00 Oh my god, you look beautiful!
02:02 It's so good to see you both!
02:05 They were just complimenting you.
02:08 I'll let you get back to your thing.
02:10 I'll let them get back to complimenting you.
02:14 Favorite musical number? Oh my gosh, there are so many. I mean...
02:19 I like... Like, once we cracked Revenge Party, like, once we, like, figured out what that
02:25 was and how we were going to shoot it, then it was like... It was like a mountain, but...
02:31 Yeah, I feel like every day we shot a little bit of Revenge Party, but seeing it all together,
02:36 it's a lot of fun.
