Merseyrail passenger compensation - LiverpoolWorld Headlines

A man has been jailed for three years for intimidating a witness involved in a court case where a paedophile was convicted for child sex offences in Wirral. Conrad Simmons, 61 years, of Commons Road in Belfast, Northern Ireland, pleaded guilty to two counts of witness intimidation at Liverpool Crown Court.

Passengers frustrated by Merseyrail services being delayed or cancelled could be given their money back. Those who bought a weekly, monthly, term-time or annual ticket in 2023 at Fazakerley, Kirkby or Headbolt Lane stations will receive a letter with information about how to claim their money back in full. Further announcements are planned to recognise non-Railpass holders whose journeys have been affected, and more details will be provided as soon as possible.

According to current estimates, a potential tidal barrage across the River Mersey could take a decade to build. The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is currently finalising options for a new tidal barrage or lagoon in the river, which has the potential to power up to one million homes with renewable energy for 120 years, create jobs, and "secure the UK's reputation as a global leader in green energy."
