00:00 The Iloilo Provincial Government is planning to file a case against those responsible for the widespread brownout in Panay Island.
00:07 Tina, Pangaliban Perez has the news.
00:10 The calvary of the Western Visayas is over following the widespread brownout back then.
00:17 But the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines or NGCP said that even if the current supply is strong now,
00:25 they cannot say if it will repeat or not.
00:28 NGCP is a private company that is under the jurisdiction of the power grid of the country
00:34 that delivers electricity from power plants to various places.
00:39 And because NGCP does not know the operations of power plants and we have no power over them,
00:45 we cannot say if it will happen again because we do not have control over the operations of power plants.
00:53 But the Iloilo Provincial Government is studying the filing of a class action suit against those responsible.
01:00 We will find legal reports so that we can vindicate not only the damage that has been done to our people,
01:09 but also to the purpose so that we will continue to apply pressure so that it will not be repeated.
01:17 President Bongbong Marcos said that NGCP is responsible for the widespread brownout.
01:25 But NGCP is confident that they can show that they are not the ones to blame for what happened.
01:32 All of this will go through due process and due process dictates that you hear all the sides involved and we are confident with our data.
01:40 We don't invent things. You will see that the incident had nothing to do with transmission operations.
01:45 A separate investigation will be conducted by the Senate and the House of Representatives on the issue,
01:49 which they want to review the frankness of NGCP.
01:52 In the resolution submitted by Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos,
01:57 he recommended that NGCP should give the systems operation to other companies
02:03 and that NGCP should focus on the construction and operation of the transmission grid.
02:09 The NGCP replied.
02:11 The NGCP's branch includes the overall transmission service, including engineering, operations and maintenance,
02:20 as well as system operations.
02:22 We believe that the system operations is an important part of the transmission service.
02:28 Some lawmakers also recommended that NGCP should be fined.
02:33 If we can give a fair voice and look at the data that was collected from the system,
02:39 we can prove that NGCP was not the reason behind the economic losses that happened.
