00:00 Pete Carroll is out as Seattle Seahawks head coach, ending a huge era up in Seattle.
00:08 When this happens, whose names pop in your mind first?
00:12 Yeah, in my mind, Dan Quinn happened, but then I got a text and Dan Quinn happened.
00:18 Dan Quinn, the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator and the former top aid for Carroll, a source
00:22 tells me is immediately on their wish list in Seattle.
00:26 Quinn, of course, has over the last couple of years talked to me and others about how
00:30 much he likes it here, a lot of things to be accomplished still here and all that, but
00:35 a chance to go back to Seattle and be the boss, that's an attractive idea.
00:39 I just spoke with J. Ron Kirsh in the locker room for the Dallas Cowboys and he said, you
00:43 know, when it comes to Dan Quinn's name being linked to some of these head coaching jobs,
00:48 he's earned every single mention.
00:50 That's a great way of looking at it, rather than looking at it as, oh no, what are we
00:53 going to do, because eventually Dan Quinn's not going to be here, eventually we're all
00:57 not going to be here, so you better figure out an alternative plan.
01:00 And the Cowboys have people on their staff, by the way, in Joe Witt and others who could
01:05 in theory jump up and grab that role here.
01:08 Meanwhile, in Seattle, that's a good match, but they could also look at young guns, and
01:13 I think they will.
01:14 That list would include Eric Bien-Ami, the Washington offensive coordinator, who has
01:18 never been a head coach before, did not call plays in Kansas City, but that resume as a
01:24 Mahomes guy, as an Andy Reid guy, that's pretty good.
01:28 We can go to the Houston Texans, Bobby Slowick, son of an NFL assistant coach, Bob Slowick,
01:35 who used to be in Dallas, by the way.
01:37 He's done incredible things in Houston.
01:40 Here comes C.J. Stroud, and C.J. Stroud looks like a 10-year stud, and Bobby Slowick, who
01:46 of course previously did great things in the 49ers organization, and therefore knows the
01:50 NFC West, that's a viable idea.
01:53 We should also mention this, that Pete Carroll at age 72, saying goodbye, he'll move up and
01:58 be an advisor.
02:00 This is happening right along the same time, of course, that in New England, they're trying
02:04 to decide what to do with their 71-year-old legend in Bill Belichick.
02:09 So time waits for no man.
02:12 You get to be 71, you get to be 72, and maybe you get to move on from your existing perch.
02:20 That's definitely happening now with Pete Carroll.
02:23 It certainly looks like it's going to happen in New England with Bill Belichick.
