00:03 In the last 24 hours, we have seen Nick Saban retire,
00:06 the Patriots and Bill Belichick agree two part ways.
00:10 And then the first stunner of the day, yesterday afternoon,
00:13 the Seattle Seahawks and Pete Carroll.
00:16 He is no longer going to be the head coach, evolving as they put it,
00:20 into an advisory role within the organization.
00:23 But whichever way you slice it,
00:25 he's not the head coach of this Seahawks organization any further.
00:30 Donnie, how surprised were you by the news that Pete Carroll's done after 14
00:34 seasons as the head coach in Seattle?
00:36 >> The only surprise that caught me off guard was the day before Pete Carroll was
00:41 like, yeah, I'm coming back here.
00:42 Which meant that probably ownership and
00:43 the general manager were on the same page.
00:45 Like, hey, Pete, it's up to you if you wanna come back.
00:47 Love to have you, he says I'm coming back.
00:49 But 24 hours later to roll reverse in part ways.
00:52 Now granted, they're doing it the right way here.
00:54 Like Bill Belichick, I don't think Bill Belichick actually got fired in New England.
00:58 I truly believe that those two came together, Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick.
01:01 Okay, now it's time to move on, understandably, fantastic times.
01:05 We'll catch up later.
01:06 But something tells me that Pete was coming back here, but
01:09 something changed in the background here to force their hand and fire Pete.
01:14 Now granted, they're not gonna come out and say, hey, we fired Pete yesterday.
01:17 We wish him well.
01:18 No, they gave him the rightful send off.
01:20 He was a wonderful coach for the Seattle Seahawks.
01:22 Championships here, NFC championships.
01:25 And by all intents and purposes, every single year,
01:27 the Seahawks felt like they were in it to win it.
01:29 Because Pete Carroll's on the sideline, and for some reason,
01:31 it always worked out in their favor.
01:33 Now a couple of lackluster years in a row and
01:35 Pete getting a little bit up there in age.
01:37 But this is one of those times where we talk about the Chicago Bears going, okay,
01:41 Ibraflux is coming back.
01:42 I hope they did their due diligence saying like, well, you know what?
01:44 The only guy will get rid of him before his horrible and
01:46 he didn't wanna come back.
01:47 There's no way, shape, or form.
01:48 Seattle just said, you know what?
01:49 We said Pete's coming back, but 24 hours later, Ben said,
01:52 no, he's not coming back.
01:54 Something has to be in the works in Seattle for
01:56 a predecessor coming in and probably a big name.
01:59 That's the only thing I can think of at this point.
02:01 And maybe, we'll probably get into it a little bit later.
02:03 Is it Dan Quinn?
02:04 Is it a defensive coordinator?
02:05 Is it an offensive guy?
02:06 But make no bones about it.
02:07 Seattle knows what they're doing now, and I think the wheels are already in motion for
02:11 that next head coaching hire.
