Transcript
00:00 The Philippines has just launched the Aguila Internet Satellite,
00:05 which will provide a wider connectivity to remote and remote areas.
00:12 This is what Rod Laguzada reported.
00:14 Game changer!
00:17 This is the possible side effect of the Aguila Satellite
00:20 if it is successfully launched
00:22 when it comes to internet connectivity in the country
00:25 according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
00:28 The Aguila Satellite is a satellite dedicated or particular to the Philippines,
00:32 explained Assistant Secretary Renato Paraiso.
00:35 Currently, a demand study is underway for satellite communication.
00:40 We have a survey on government agencies,
00:42 both on nation and local estimate demand for the country.
00:47 That means we are looking at where we can deploy our satellite.
00:52 Aside from that, we are talking to many satellite operators,
00:54 our OSSP, our SSPOs, our satellite service operators and providers,
01:00 and manufacturers to screen and evaluate their satellite and services.
01:04 We are also coordinating with the International Telecommunications Union
01:08 for revision of the International Frequency Alignment for the Philippines.
01:12 This will greatly help,
01:14 particularly in geographical isolated and disadvantaged OJIDA areas.
01:19 Because of this satellite technology,
01:20 the government is also hoping that it will be cheaper
01:23 because there is no need to deploy cables.
01:26 Once the satellites are there,
01:28 from the top, you will provide not just infrastructure,
01:32 but also equipment to receive the satellite,
01:35 broad bandwidth from the satellites
01:40 to distribute within the specific area range of that.
01:46 The DICT is assuring the public that they are doing their best to make it more usable.
01:50 This is the most archipelago of the Philippines.
01:53 It means that there are many islands in different parts of the country.
01:56 Meanwhile, aside from this,
01:57 the DICT has many other projects to have more connectivity in the country,
02:01 such as the creation of free Wi-Fi sites.
02:04 Road Laguzad for the people.
