00:00 For those who are looking for vegetables that are literally fresh from the farm,
00:04 urban farms are a must-buy.
00:06 There is a place in BGC, Taguig, where you can rent land for vegetable cultivation.
00:12 Watch this, with Jamie Santos.
00:15 In the middle of the rising house of BGC Taguig,
00:23 the urban farm that is called BGC Community Garden is blooming.
00:27 You can find various types of vegetables here,
00:30 such as lettuce, okra, and tomatoes.
00:33 There are also herbs and spices.
00:35 Louie Gutierrez started the urban farm
00:38 to help those who lost their jobs because of the pandemic.
00:42 Initially, my intention was for my family,
00:45 and then for my employees who lost their jobs because of the pandemic.
00:49 Then you look at it as a bigger purpose right now,
00:52 it's helping the community and the city.
00:57 The urban farm is open to the public, free and free of entrance fee.
01:01 If you are interested in farming, you can learn here.
01:05 They are doing training and workshops about urban farming
01:10 to encourage young people to farm.
01:13 We'd like to inspire the young people to get into agriculture
01:16 because the median age of a farmer right now,
01:19 the Filipino farmer, is 55 years old.
01:21 So imagine in 10 years, if we don't have anything to do,
01:24 we might not have anything to eat, just imported.
01:26 For those who want to learn more,
01:29 we also have workshops here on the farm.
01:32 We also have small donations to the organization
01:35 so we can buy seeds and support the farmers who maintain the farm.
01:40 In farming, you don't need a lot of land to grow vegetables.
01:45 If you don't have land, you can rent or adopt a farm.
01:49 It has a 1 square meter area where you can plant vegetables.
01:53 Take care of it until it can be harvested.
01:57 We have an area there, a select number of pods that we rent out
02:01 as part of our income generating activities to support the farm.
02:06 And what we do is guided planting.
02:09 Don't worry if you think you don't have a green thumb.
02:13 You just need knowledge, interest, patience and patience.
02:17 You can also buy freshly harvested veggies here.
02:21 This can be eaten with salads.
02:25 The Urban Farm is open from 6am to 6pm.
