Filiale is a cooperation between Galerie Conrads (Düsseldorf, Germany) and Galerie Römerapotheke (Zürich, Switzerland). Both galleries will run the space alternately. Filiale is located in Brunnenstrasse, where other galleries like Kunstbank, Winkelmann, Amerika and Goff & Rosenthal have already found their place. Interview with the director of Galerie Römerapotheke, Philippe Rey. September 30, 2006. By VTV correspondent Christan Asbach. 00:00 So, yeah, congratulations to this excellent space here in Berlin-Mitte.
00:08 Can you tell me your name and the name of your gallery and what brought you here?
00:13 Well, we are very happy to be here and the gallery's name is Filiale.
00:19 Filiale because it's a work-together kind of a thing,
00:25 a joint venture between Konrad Düsseldorf and Römer Apotheke of Zurich.
00:29 And we're going to try to put up some great programs
00:34 and some interesting programs for the next couple of years.
00:37 And what is it about this space that you're sharing with two other organizations?
00:43 Can you tell me about this model?
00:45 This space we rent from the FRS, that is the Fotografie am Schiffbauernam.
00:53 It's a school of photography.
00:55 And we will actually say and do whatever the program will be.
01:04 That is, Gallery Konrad and Gallery Römer Apotheke will put up the programs for this Filiale project.
01:11 But it will be a gallery with contemporary art and I hope it will stay for many, many years.
01:19 And where was your earlier location?
01:22 We still have our base gallery in Zurich.
01:25 And this will be our second gallery but nonetheless a very important gallery.
01:30 It will be our window to Germany.
01:33 And what motivated you to choose Berlin?
01:36 Berlin is kind of the center of Europe and it's obvious geographically, politically,
01:41 that between Moscow and Paris Berlin is in the middle.
01:45 And so we decided to go to Berlin because I think it's a very upcoming and hip city.
01:52 And it has a lot of potential, a lot of interesting people and a lot of things that go on
01:57 that I believe will generate a lot of other things.
02:01 And so I want to be part of it.
02:03 Thank you very much.
02:05 You're welcome.
02:06 I hope you will carry on working.
02:08 Thank you.
02:09 Klaus Wein.
02:10 Hat sich gerade gut.
