00:00 "My name is Carmen."
00:02 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today, we're counting down our picks for the most touching, endearing,
00:07 and engaging moments involving Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear, and more.
00:11 "You've changed my life.
00:13 I am incredibly, incredibly grateful."
00:16 10.
00:19 Playing Kevin - Movie 43
00:21 Gross out sketch film Movie 43 is, to put it mildly, not a good movie.
00:26 But if there's any part of it worth preserving, it's this segment, featuring a young White.
00:31 "When are you gonna get that through your thick skull, Mr. Morris?"
00:33 "Miller."
00:35 "That's a detention."
00:38 In it, White plays a homeschooled teen whose parents, played by Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber,
00:42 want to give him the true high school experience.
00:45 "It should be the unhappiest time in a boy's life."
00:48 "That's why we try to make sure that Kevin doesn't miss out on any of those
00:51 essential, emotionally scarring experiences that he'd get at a regular school."
00:56 This means unfair grading policies, detention, and targeted harassment.
01:00 It's hilarious enough to see dramatic stars like
01:03 Watson Schreiber go all out in playing such comically cruel characters.
01:06 "Hey, Kevin, right?"
01:08 "Can I please come in?"
01:11 "What, Debbie Clark's here, the girl you asked out before? It's gonna be awkward."
01:18 But it's White's deadpan and bewildered reactions to this absurdity that brings it all together.
01:23 Watching this, we can't help but sympathize with Kevin for all he has to endure.
01:27 But it's clear that White has a bright future ahead of him.
01:30 "Um, Jen, my mom says hi."
01:32 "Hello, Jen."
01:34 "Hello, Mrs. Miller. I'm the pretty girl."
01:38 "She is."
01:41 Number 9. The Puppy Interview - BuzzFeed
01:44 BuzzFeed's puppy interview videos are the perfect pick-me-up. And White's is no exception.
01:50 "I knew I liked puppies, but I didn't know quite how effective this would be in bringing me
01:55 immediate joy."
01:56 He and his Iron Claw co-stars Zac Efron and Harris Dickinson bond with a gaggle of
02:00 adorable young canines while looking pretty adorable themselves.
02:04 "They're so nervous."
02:05 "They are."
02:06 "Just like me."
02:06 The image of White sitting on the floor wearing a sweater vest is already enough to make us melt.
02:13 But add some puppies to the equation, and it reaches a whole new level of awe.
02:18 White's affection for his floppy-eared friends is immediately palpable.
02:21 "Oh, geez."
02:22 "Sorry, I'm not listening."
02:23 While the film the actors are promoting is intense and harrowing,
02:28 this interview is light and delightful. And if it was nothing but White playing with puppies,
02:33 we wouldn't complain.
02:35 "All these dogs are adoptable."
02:36 "So adopt them."
02:37 "Wags and woks."
02:38 "I might adopt them first."
02:39 Number 8. 10 Things Jeremy Allen White Can't Live Without - GQ
02:44 These GQ interviews are great for helping us get inside the heads of famous folk,
02:48 based on the items they deem most essential. And White's elections scream cool.
02:53 "So right here I have my, uh, moleskin, uh, journal."
02:59 However, it's not that he has the hottest, most expensive toys to show off. Rather,
03:04 it's stuff with clear sentimental value, such as a well-worn New York Mets baseball cap.
03:09 "A lot of people ask me if this was pre-distressed and very expensive. It wasn't.
03:15 It's a normal hat. I wear it a lot and I wash it a lot."
03:20 There are some bittersweet connotations, as he brings up multiple items associated with his now
03:24 ex-wife. For the most part, though, it's a fun, moving, and informative glimpse into White and
03:30 what brings him joy, especially when he talks about his young daughters.
03:33 "This one is this really, really nice ring. And in there it's just an E and a D for my daughters,
03:40 Ezra and Dolores."
03:42 Oh, and he promotes reading, too.
03:45 "You should always have a book with you. Don't get caught out there traveling without a book."
03:51 Number 7. Culinary Training
03:54 White's portrayal of a harried career chef on the bear is amazing in its authenticity.
03:59 It really feels like we're seeing an actual chef at work.
04:02 "Housekeeping means you have to clean your stations because this place is f---ing gross."
04:06 And that's no accident. To better understand the role of Carmen "Carmi" Bersotto,
04:11 White underwent training in actual high-end kitchens, as well as in culinary classes.
04:16 "I had no idea just how much went into it."
04:19 This gave him a newfound respect for chefs and their work.
04:22 He also shows humility in talking about his initial blunders.
04:26 "I started cutting. They weren't great. And I told her, 'You know what? I'm an actor. I'm not a chef.'
04:35 And she just goes, 'No, I know.'"
04:37 We imagine White would give a compelling performance no matter what,
04:42 but it's this extra level of commitment that helps bring it to an even higher level.
04:46 "It wasn't natural, I'll say."
04:50 Number 6. Modeling
04:52 Calvin Klein
04:53 When an actor breaks out the way White has, you start to see them everywhere.
04:57 Like, for instance, in Calvin Klein ads.
04:59 In one commercial for the fashion brand, White shows off his swagger in a sharp ensemble.
05:12 In another, he's down to his boxer briefs without a trace of self-consciousness.
05:16 However, he never comes across as arrogant or conceited.
05:20 His is a natural, quiet confidence. Whether dressing up or decidedly down, White oozes
05:26 charisma. The New Yorker rightfully called the latter campaign a "shareable feast."
05:31 Honestly, he could probably make cargo shorts look cool.
05:34 Number 5. Acceptance Speech, 80th Golden Globe Awards
05:44 In 2023, White won his first Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series,
05:49 Musical, or Comedy.
05:50 While some might take issue with classifying a show like The Bear as a comedy, we can hopefully
05:59 all agree that White deserved to be recognized for his work. And he marked the occasion with
06:03 a lovely and heartfelt speech. Winning against tough competitors, White pays tribute to his
06:12 peers, as well as the team behind his series and other important individuals.
06:16 "Um, my parents, I love you. Thank you for making me feel like this was possible."
06:20 You can tell he's still processing how surreal the moment is as he goes through the many people
06:25 who helped bring him to this moment. He won again the following year, and he'll likely have plenty
06:30 more trophies where that came from. "Thank you, thank you so much. I feel so lucky I get to do
06:34 this. Thank you guys." "Thank you."
06:36 Number 4. Actors on Actors Interview with Jennifer Coolidge, Variety
06:41 What's better than getting to know one great actor? Getting to know two.
06:44 "I'm thrilled by this, you know, fluky moment, and I'm really enjoying it for whatever it's worth."
06:52 "Good. Cool. I just hope so."
06:56 In this interview for Variety, White sits down with another Golden Globe-winning thespian,
07:01 White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge. For 35 minutes, the actors talk about their craft
07:05 and express their admiration for each other. "I feel like I'm watching a documentary,
07:10 almost. It's just all so scarily real. I mean, it's just…"
07:15 "Thank you."
07:16 Asking Coolidge questions, White shows genuine curiosity in learning from her and how she got
07:20 her career on the right path, and his contributions keep the conversation flowing.
07:25 "Tell me about, like, how many people in a day come up to you and say that?"
07:29 "It's a lot, yeah. It's a lot."
07:31 It's readily apparent that the two have the kind of palpable chemistry that can't be faked.
07:35 Any chance we see them together on screen again soon?
07:38 "You're such a brilliant actor."
07:39 "Thank you so much."
07:40 "And, um, incredibly, uh, attractive human being, you know, so…"
07:45 "Right back at you."
07:46 Number 3. Playing Cary Von Erich, The Iron Claw
07:50 The Iron Claw tells the story of the Von Erich family,
07:52 a wrestling dynasty that experienced unimaginable tragedy.
07:56 "Dad's too tough on us. You gotta say something."
07:58 White plays Cary Von Erich, also known as the Texas Tornado,
08:02 who, along with his brothers, became a star of the squared circle. Without revealing too much
08:07 about this gripping, sobering film, White's performance is one of many reasons to see it.
08:11 To learn the ways of the ring, he trained with professional wrestler Chavo Guerrero Jr.
08:19 He also developed a physique fitting the real-life figure.
08:22 Most importantly, though, he tapped into the man behind the muscles.
08:26 The Iron Claw is not an easy watch,
08:28 but White's talents helped to make it one of the best films of the year.
08:31 Number 2. Playing Lip Gallagher, Shameless
08:36 The bear might have made White into a capital-S star, but he didn't come out of nowhere.
08:40 At least, not for anyone who watched Shameless.
08:42 "I name a single time I've let you down."
08:46 As Philip "Lip" Ronan Gallagher, White undergoes an amazing arc during the show's 11 seasons.
08:52 We meet Lip as a sharp high schooler who doesn't always apply his intelligence in the best way.
08:57 "How'd you catch me?"
08:58 "Well, as smart as you are, we've got people working for us who are even smarter."
09:02 Over the years, he learns some harsh but vital lessons as he struggles with things like substance
09:07 use disorder. Lip is a complicated character, who in the wrong hands might be hard to root for.
09:13 But White's utter empathy shines through.
09:15 "But you're strong."
09:17 "Are you sure?"
09:20 "Yeah."

09:40 1. Carmi's monologue, "The Bear"
09:43 There are so many incredible moments from White on The Bear that it's almost
09:47 agonizing to choose just one. But if there was ever a scene to single out, it's this one.
09:52 "My brother's an addict. My brother was an addict."
09:54 At an Al-Anon meeting, Carmi speaks for more than six minutes about his late brother as
10:00 well as himself. He talks about the bond between the two and their shared culinary aspirations.
10:04 "We wanted to open a restaurant together. We had a name, we had a vibe, all of it."
10:10 He speaks of his brother with such love and affection, but also sheer pain and heartbreak.
10:15 With every pause, intonation, and expression,
10:17 Jeremy Allen White takes us on an incredibly cathartic emotional journey.
10:22 "I didn't know my brother was using drugs.
10:23 What does that say?"
10:29 But it never feels like he's trying to provoke any tears. Instead, he's embodying a man trying
10:34 to be his best and most honest self, one word at a time.
10:38 "It means a lot to me.
10:39 I just don't know if it ever meant anything to him."
10:46 Where would you love to see Jeremy Allen White pop up next? Let us know in the comments.
10:52 "I love these shoes. I don't know what I'll do without them."
