00:00 I'm down at the Australian Reptile Park at Summersby on the New South Wales
00:05 Central Coast where this morning they've taken three of the largest and most
00:09 dominant male alligators out of their enclosure to give them their annual
00:12 health check after the breeding season. They've had a really successful breeding
00:17 season at the park this year. They're expecting 20 baby alligators to hatch
00:22 successfully. Usually during the breeding season the alligators can get quite
00:27 aggressive so that's why they need to do this health check to make sure that
00:31 they're all healthy following maybe some of them got bitten. We saw a few of
00:35 them had quite a few bite marks and chunks taken out of their tails. Have to
00:39 check their teeth and things like that as well and they do it out in public to
00:44 see to let the public see you know what takes place and the importance of these
00:48 kinds of health checks. But yeah three big ones behind me here. The one just
00:52 behind me right here is measured to be the largest one in Australia at more
00:57 than 4.2 meters long. The largest male alligator in captivity but yeah the more
01:03 alligators all of the other alligators will have a health check later this year
01:07 as well.
