00:00 No cameras or prying eyes are allowed behind these doors in the Elafe office, so instead we have to rely on video handouts.
00:09 It's no wonder the company is arguably the world leader in the cutting-edge automotive technology of in-wheel electric motor systems.
00:19 Their concept, which started over two decades ago, is to remove the motors from the car itself and place them into its wheels.
00:29 A radical and innovative idea that should result in more car space, lower weight, extended range, higher efficiency and better maneuverability.
00:40 Elafe says Slovenia produces the highest number of electric motors per capita in the world.
00:48 That's allowed for increased design and production knowledge and led to some amazing breakthroughs.
00:56 According to experts, thanks to Elafe, we are around five years away from seeing electric vehicles with in-wheel motors produced on a mass scale.
01:07 To achieve this goal, Elafe created many international partnerships, including with the Chinese company APG.
01:14 Since they are connected to all of the Chinese car makers, this is a huge opportunity for us because we have an opportunity to expose our technology to all of the car makers.
01:25 So I have high hopes for further evolution of this technology also in China and other parts of Asia.
01:32 The Elafe collaboration with the Chinese partner is just one of the examples of successful China-Slovenia collaboration in technology.
01:41 Slovenia's Pipistrel produces electrically powered light aircraft in its factory in China.
01:47 China's Hisense opened a technology center in Slovenia and they've been followed by others.
01:55 The Slovenian government welcomes this type of cooperation, which has been developed partly due to the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries initiative.
02:05 This initiative is a very practical tool for the cooperation of the Central and Eastern European countries and China.
02:12 There are many activities, there are many proposals, so we think it's very useful and a nice possibility for expanding the economic cooperation between China and Slovenia through that initiative.
02:25 And as their governments push for closer cooperation, the companies are suggesting expanding it into areas of technological research.
02:34 Areas where both Slovenia and China can contribute a lot.
