00:00 How was the game against Sassi Neu?
00:03 For sure it was Sassi Neu to play against him.
00:07 It's obviously coming from qualifying, making a good first round,
00:13 so I had to be very careful, especially in the beginning, trying to get to know him.
00:18 Then at some point I played really well, I served good, returned also well,
00:25 so it was a good match today, and now let's see what's coming in the next round.
00:31 What did you and Darren talk about specifically after that round one win over Baltic?
00:36 That it was a positive match, because coming back after a little while
00:45 and playing an official match, it was not easy.
00:48 Not everything went in my way at some point,
00:52 but I tried to stay there mentally.
00:55 It was really good, and it was a good first round match.
00:59 Today, tennis-wise, I played a little bit better, I felt better on the court.
01:04 Roof closed is a little bit different, I love the conditions.
01:10 But it's part of a tournament, when it's raining,
01:17 that you can try to adapt yourself in a different situation.
01:22 So the first round match we talked about, we analysed it really simply.
01:31 Today we still have to talk, but I guess it was a good match.
01:36 After two straight set matches, is there anything you can improve on?
01:42 Yeah, for sure. It depends, as I said, also on the situation.
01:50 For sure I can improve. Today I played well, I felt good on the court.
01:59 I was very calm and stable throughout the whole match.
02:06 We have to see how I go when the match is closer,
02:12 when the sets are closer, trying to see how I react.
02:16 But everything together, I feel good to be back in competition.
02:26 This is why I work for, to be on court trying to compete.
02:32 Today it seemed easier than it was,
02:37 because he played well throughout the whole tournament.
02:41 I wish him all the best. He's a very nice person, a nice man.
02:46 Hopefully we can see him many more times,
02:52 making some good draws the whole year.
02:57 My question is about coffee.
03:01 Daniel Taro and John Millman had a discussion on Twitter
03:05 about where is the best coffee in the world.
03:07 Millman said Australia, and Daniel said Italy.
03:10 You're from Italy, you travel all over the world.
03:13 Do you enjoy coffee?
03:15 Of course, Italy.
03:18 I do drink coffee. It depends on how many I drink day by day.
03:31 But me, being an Italian, I have to say Italy.
03:36 The best one is Lavazza, because I'm sponsored by Lavazza.
03:42 But no, I like coffee, but I'm not a specialist about coffees.
03:49 You talked about gym work.
03:53 Can you talk about what your favourite exercises are?
03:56 Are there any machines you get excited about?
03:58 Anything you think might be different to other players?
04:00 I like to mix it up, honestly.
04:02 I think my fitness coach is really good to mix up the things.
04:08 He understands what I need and what I might need for the next matches.
04:15 It's exciting to work with him.
04:18 At the end of the day, I love to play.
04:21 This is why I'm a tennis player.
04:24 Because tennis is...
04:27 You can play.
04:30 That's also one of the reasons why I choose to play tennis
04:34 and not continue with skiing.
04:37 Sometimes when you're tired and you still have to go to the gym,
04:41 it's sometimes tough, but in your mind you know this is the right way.
04:46 Trying to improve and you have to accept it.
04:49 It also makes it a little bit more fun when you have the fitness coach
04:57 and you can joke around a little bit, trying to relax also.
05:05 I don't like so much cardio and running.
05:08 But when we make the combined work on the court with the cardio,
05:14 I like it more.
05:16 It depends.
05:18 You've always been a huge star in Italy,
05:25 but especially after winning Italy's first Davis Cup in 1976.
05:29 Can you describe to us how big a deal that was in Italy?
05:33 We saw that vision of you inside soccer stadiums, football stadiums,
05:37 people chanting your name.
05:39 Has life changed a little bit since then?
05:42 For sure I get more recognised, especially in Italy.
05:47 But in the other way, for me, it hasn't changed.
05:54 Nothing, to be honest.
06:00 One week after, I went to the gym like a usual day
06:05 and I went on the court like a usual day.
06:07 So for sure I get more recognised.
06:10 Maybe because...
06:13 Let's say that maybe before the Davis Cup I was not...
06:20 I couldn't imagine how big of a deal this was.
06:25 And then after, you realise how important the Davis Cup is.
06:30 For sure I always played for Italy because I love to play for it.
06:37 I love to represent it, hopefully in the right way, the Italian flag.
06:43 But until you don't really win it or you get into the competition of the Davis Cup,
06:49 it's tough to understand how important it is.
06:52 So it was really, really nice to be part of this.
06:55 I'm happy that I gave my amount of winning percentage to the team.
07:04 And I'm looking forward to the Olympics.
07:09 Because obviously you play for yourself but also for Italy.
07:13 So it's going to be fun. So let's see.
07:16 Let's see.
