Vox pop - Should unhealthy foods face tobacco-style curbs?

00:00 Yeah, just giving people the choice of both healthy and unhealthier options, because if you take them away completely, I think people lack choice.
00:09 Like, lots of people use it for a treat thing or a motivation thing, especially in January, to have slightly unhealthier food.
00:14 But obviously having healthy food accessible in city centres, not just fast food places, I guess, would be helpful,
00:21 rather than fully covering up or bailing it in shops and things like that.
00:26 It's up to them at the end of the day. Your health is your responsibility.
00:30 What do you think about our levels of obesity, though?
00:34 I appreciate the city.
00:37 I don't know. I guess congestionising city centres is a good start on that.
00:43 To be honest, the statistics are very high in the 2000s, and now we don't really see much about it on the news.
00:50 That's a good priority.
00:52 Yeah, and as people stop thinking about it as much now, there's a thing to worry about.
00:57 Possibly. That's probably the thing people are thinking about.
01:01 I don't know. I don't think you can make people healthier.
01:06 I don't think you can make people eat healthier. I think you can only educate them and they can make their own choice.
01:14 Definitely. I don't think it's nice to push things onto people, and if they have to do it, they won't do it.
01:24 What do you think about higher taxes?
01:27 On what?
01:29 On these products, making them more expensive.
01:32 No.
01:33 Why not?
01:34 Because that's not going to help them make the right choices in food, is it?
01:39 I think healthy food should be cheaper, and then you will make the right choice by buying the cheaper food.
