We analyse Rovers' 3-0 home loss to Chesterfield.
Transcript
00:00Hello, Richard Harper from the Eco Park Stadium at the Rovers. Pretty chasing day at the office, wasn't it? 300 feet to Chesterfield.
00:09Yeah, I spoke to Commissioner Beacon to grab a candle on the low, and yeah, he described it as a pretty crazy day at the office, and I think I can go along with that.
00:19I don't think really it's been a really positive day, I'm pretty proud, local derby, but yeah, it just didn't turn out the way we'd hoped it would.
00:29Obviously, there was a 3-0 finish in the game, with 9 in the end. Yeah, just a really extreme one to kind of kick the bones out of.
00:38It's strange for me that it started quite well, it started quite positively. Then after a while, the party moves to Chesterfield, you know, I'm sure a lot of footballers will kind of expect it.
00:50I think that in the passing ranks and the possession ranks, the stats will lead to, so not really much of a surprise there.
00:58It was a real threat down the planks, and then you kind of get a burst of real opportunity at Garrand and Deschamps.
01:04I had so much to do with him, pick up a lot of ice now, when you're young again.
01:09So, as to be said, a really good free kick from the former Oxconn team, and a poor, positive free kick in the first place.
01:16It really started that, it was one of the many, many decisions that were really questionable.
01:20The referee was really bad, he obviously had a lot of fans questioning his performance.
01:27I think we all saw the reaction in full-time. It was just a really bad day at the office for us.
01:34I mean, you can question a referee if you want, but in truth, did they turn up and did they really let me go on Chesterfield?
01:42I don't think they did. You know, we shot some targets and it was one right at the end.
01:48I think it was 85th minute or so before they actually tested Chesterfield's goalkeeper, Landon.
01:54So, one goal down after half an hour or so, they then gave themselves a massive tip-off after the break.
02:00And then a little while later, they got put just after the last hour or so, giving a bit of lip to the ref.
02:07And then Rose came out, reshaped by the way, made two stops, went for that three, and they actually looked quite bright going forward.
02:15Obviously, at that point, it's only 1-0. And then Mullen, who keeps the ball after the referee, blew his whistle.
02:22And he should have knocked back, really, because the playman did it first off and got put for Chesterfield.
02:27So, you know, he does that and then gets sent off, and then you're thinking that the game plan's been tarnished.
02:33And obviously, down to ten, I guess it seems unhospitable anyway, so they come out.
02:40And then it gets worse penalty. He's given away a value home after not a pitch long at that point.
02:46Mullen scores it, and then, yeah, I think the game's pretty much been dusted by then.
02:51You know, Rose had precious little, in the way of power, opportunities.
02:55Chesterfield were bossing the ball, looking to their own account, so they didn't just soak up what little pressure there was.
03:01And then another moment, Amanderson, which I don't see it live. I've not seen any of you play it.
03:07He was saying that he thought it was just a coming together with Duncan, and there was a bit of a rumour and stuff.
03:14I don't know what he actually did, but he was far from happy.
03:17At the initial wet time, I think he did the ball efficiently as well.
03:21So, it remains to be seen what kind of hand he healed it.
03:24Obviously, Mullen was getting a warm-up. Hopefully, it's not as, you know, it's not as bad for Amanderson as many suspect.
03:33But, I mean, when he did that, you know, his head had obviously gone, and the game was done.
03:37And then, they go to their own, and that's what Gary gets to play.
03:39So, you know, just a rough start.
03:41But, yeah, just never got going with it today, Rose.
03:44And it did not cost it.
03:46You know, they got two cheap red cards, in the sense that they were loyal.
03:50So, yeah, once again, the good thing is, I suppose, that no more injuries have been picked up.
03:56And they've got a really good chance to rectify it on Tuesday night, back here, against Parliament.
