Amid concern that the desperately needed turnaround in the housing sector is yet to start, Planning Minister Paul Scully talked down the importance of a goal to build 75,000 new homes in the state each year.

00:00 Everything that we're doing in planning at the moment is geared towards meeting the Housing
00:04 Accord targets over the five years of that agreement and working on a pipeline going

00:12 Some of the published forecasts that are available at the moment predate the announcement of
00:20 the reforms that we're doing to plan.
00:22 So you would have seen when we made those announcements there was a series of numbers
00:25 and forecasts based on those agreements.
00:26 Now that's for the period of record and then there's the work that will be done into the
00:31 future about making sure that that continues to deliver.
00:35 Those forecasts will be updated periodically but they haven't been updated to reflect because
00:39 there was a timing mismatch.
