2023 NY Giants Position Review - Tight Ends
Transcript
00:00 The New York Giants appeared to upgrade their tight end position last offseason
00:04 when they acquired Darren Waller in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.
00:07 Initially, at least through the spring and summer, a rejuvenated and healthy looking Waller,
00:14 who had appeared to kick a hamstring issue that shortened his final season with the Raiders,
00:18 looked unguardable while second year man Daniel Bellinger came into camp bulked up like a mini
00:24 Bane. Unfortunately, the Giants didn't get quite as much production from their tight ends as hoped.
00:30 Waller missed five games with another hamstring issue, spending those five games on IR, and
00:36 Bellinger almost became an afterthought. So the question for the Giants is what do they really
00:42 need from their tight ends moving forward? Ideally, they'd probably like to have a mixture
00:46 of solid blocking and pass catching ability, but above all else, they'd probably like a healthy
00:51 unit capable of staying on the field. And to that end, if they plan to run it back with Waller,
00:57 as appears to be the case as of now, they might want to look to add to this group via the draft.
