00:00 Okay, gents, listen, when I tell you to break, you need to take a step back immediately.
00:04 Keep your punches up, very mindful, man, so you can set yourselves up at all times.
00:07 We'll go to your bow, gentlemen, touch gloves.
00:09 So we're all set then for the professional debut of 20-year-old lightweight Billy Adams,
00:14 who's got plenty of support inside York Hall tonight.
00:18 And there is a form line, Richie, running through, based on the fact we've just seen Charlie Hickford.
00:22 This is the young man who beat him in the 2020 Youth Championship final.
00:27 And he's a very, very talented boy, isn't he?
00:30 Yes, he is. I've worked with him up at GB.
00:32 He's a class act, young Billy Adams.
00:34 Very skilful, safe boy indeed.
00:37 And he actually wanted to stay amateur a little bit longer, but nevertheless,
00:42 he's decided to turn pro, 20 years of age, and he has a big future.
00:46 But yes, he is a talent. He's a very skillful boxer indeed.
00:49 Barry's in there tonight. He's 17 years older than him at 37.
00:52 Jarfius Foray, two wins in 17 fights, although he did win his last one.
00:58 He's from Oldbury in the West Midlands, and Adams in the white and silver,
01:03 already looking to move nicely and put his punches together
01:07 and show some of that slick work that we're expecting from him tonight.
01:10 He started this pretty confidently, but Foray, you know, he's tough.
01:15 He's only been stopped a couple of times.
01:18 So again, it could be a case of Adams probably got too much skill with his opponent here,
01:24 but the challenge will be to try and force a stoppage, and that won't be easy here.
01:28 It's always exciting, Vici, isn't it, when you're in there right at the start of a young, talented boxer's career.
01:35 We've just seen Charlie Hickliffe win every minute of his first fight as a professional,
01:40 and here we are now watching Billy Adams, who's taken the name Boom Boom from Ray Mancini and others.
01:46 It's always nice to be there from the start and follow them through to what you hope is a very, very successful professional career.
01:52 He's working with that jab. Adams is measuring the distance and gap on that shot,
01:58 and then there's the left hand that follows through.
02:00 So good, decent, basic boxing skills there from Adams.
02:05 And Foray, again, he's struggling here, mainly similar to the previous opponent
02:12 in terms of just measuring that distance and gap. He's too far away at this stage.
02:17 Adams popping up that southpaw jab. They're both southpaws in there.
02:21 That jab's been a good punch for Adams in the opening two minutes of his professional debut.
02:26 It sets up everything else that comes after it. Good mover as well, isn't he, Vici?
02:30 Using his feet well in there. Yeah, lovely sidesteps there from Adams, really going through the gears.
02:36 And moving his feet, that's good work.
02:38 Yeah, really good work. He's got a fantastic little uppercut through his guard to start that little combination off.
02:43 Billy Adams, he's only 20.
02:46 The white and silk of him and the black and gold for the much more experienced Jarfius Foray from the West Midlands.
02:53 Moving towards the final 30 seconds of the first round of Adams' professional career.
02:58 Good skills, going through the gears again, pulling the combinations together.
03:05 Good work there from Adams. Foray is really struggling here.
03:10 It's been a feature of Hickford in the previous fight and in this one with Adams.
03:16 Putting the punches together, but they're very accurate too. They're not missing with any, either of them.
03:21 Because they've got a fairly static target in front of them.
03:26 And you've got to remember, they've come from the amateur game, and they've had much faster opponents.
03:31 There goes the bell.
03:33 [applause]
03:37 [music]
03:40 Bring back the wow with the Culture Window Vac.

04:06 [music]
04:10 Welcome back to your call.
04:12 That's the corner of Billy Adams, who's got his dad Dennis as his trainer.
04:17 He was a professional fighter, as were two of his uncles.
04:20 I'm told the only absence he's had from boxing, which he was when his dad made him concentrate on his GCSEs.
04:26 Good parents him from Dennis.
04:28 And now he's fully focused on his own professional career, of course.
04:31 He's being advised by the former WDO World Featherweight Champion, Colin McMillan, who's here as well at your call tonight.
04:37 Yeah, good friend of mine, Colin.
04:39 Boxed in the same England team as Colin did, back in the mid to late 80s.
04:45 One of the fighters here was Colin McMillan, Sweet C.
04:48 Of course, a former world champion, as you said, but he was a very good amateur also.
04:54 [crowd noise]
04:57 I think Colin McMillan will be really pleased with what he's seen here also.
05:09 From Adams to now, it's been a good display.
05:14 I don't like you being advised by Colin McMillan, you need to be a slick boxer.
05:18 Sweet C was certainly that, wasn't he?
05:22 Wonderful fighter to watch.
05:24 Good start, this, to the professional career though, of Billy Adams.
05:27 See, poor Ray, just on the outside, trying to get the odd single shot here and there.
05:41 But feet are a little bit too slow.
05:43 This was quite easy kickings there for Billy Adams, who's probably enjoying this.
05:48 Like I said before, he's used to quick opponents with quick feet in the amateur game.
05:52 Especially when he's boxed in as an international amateur, which he was.
05:55 So now he's up against a tough man, but with slow feet.
05:59 And he's holding it well comfortable.
06:01 This one's at lightweight over four rounds, and for the first time Adams having to move away.
06:07 Seemed to quite enjoy that with a little dance as he got back into range.
06:13 Go on, go on!
06:15 Okay, Adams pulling his punches together nicely.
06:23 Just setting up his backhand, you see, with that lead hand of his.
06:28 The jab, so he's just measuring the distance, probing for little gaps and faults from his opponent.
06:33 And then he'll whip the left hand through, so it's just good boxing skills.
06:38 Edging forward, and it's judgement of distance with that lead hand.
06:41 That's the important thing, judging the distance and the gap,
06:44 and then bringing the left hand through.
06:45 There he was there, not too far away.
06:47 Perfect illustration of what Richie was explaining.
06:50 Doubling up behind the jab and then bringing that left hand in towards the chin of Foy.
06:55 Found it difficult to drive Tim Adams down so far.
06:58 30 seconds to go in the second round.
07:04 Still to come tonight, you'll see Khalid Ali next in the ring,
07:08 then Liam Williams, Henry Turner,
07:10 and we finish with the top of the bill tonight, a 10-rounder for Mark Chamberlain.
07:15 Final few seconds here of round number two.
07:22 Another round that's been dominated by the debutant, Billy Adams.
07:29 Good punches there, right at the bell for Adams to end the second round.
07:35 I am Invictus. I am.
07:37 I am.
07:40 I am.
07:42 The masculine fragrance, Invictus by Roban.
07:45 Live your best phone life on the UK's fastest phone.
08:02 Live your best phone life on the UK's fastest 5G network.
08:05 Free.
08:06 So welcome back to your call in Bethnal Green.
08:14 And there is Colin "Sweet C" Macmillan, the former WBO world champion
08:19 and advisor to Billy Adams, who we're watching on his debut.
08:23 And there's Moses Italva, who's been a busy man in 2023.
08:26 And he's suddenly fast-tracked through Richie towards a World Heavyweight Championship.
08:30 Yes, a former world champion and hopefully a future world champion in Moses Italva.
08:35 So into the third round here.
08:41 One thing that is quite unique, I think, in Foray's case, Richie didn't become a professional boxer
08:47 until the age of 35. And by any stretch of the imagination, that's a late start.
08:51 Yeah, he's come from the white-collar circus, hasn't he?
08:54 I think he had probably 20 or so white-collar contests.
08:58 And he's decided to give it a go at 35 as a professional boxer.
09:02 Fair play to him. He seems a fairly fit kid.
09:05 He's just in against a very classy opponent here.
09:09 And he just can't seem to close that gap down and score anything.
09:13 And he can't land any real good shots, Fletch.
09:17 Too far away most of the time.
09:19 His stance is a little bit too wide.
09:22 It's the movement of Adams and the work with the lead hand that's causing loads of problems for Foray.
09:30 There is a familiar pattern developing with Foray.
09:32 This is his sixth fight in 2023.
09:35 Had six in 2022 and six in 2021.
09:38 But he's under real pressure here now in the third round as Adams continues to push him back
09:43 and continues to sting him with those accurate punches.
09:46 Yeah, good shot there. That all started with Foray actually trying to come forward.
09:49 And he walked onto a good left hand.
09:52 And here now, this is good for Adams because he's sensing that he could probably get a stoppage here.
09:57 So he's recognizing that his opponent is just getting weaker a little bit.
10:01 Showing a few signs that he may be ready to go.
10:05 And Adams is certainly stepping up and going through the gears.
10:08 60 amateur fights. Adams only lost seven of them.
10:12 And he's been impressive in this round.
10:15 He's been impressive in the previous two as well.
10:17 Another slick start to life as a professional.
10:20 For another talented young boxer here on this field tonight.
10:23 Oh, there's a good right hook to the body there, Flex.
10:25 That was a good shot from Adams.
10:28 You didn't say Fletcher there. I thought you were getting in there.
10:30 I would have missed him by a mile, Rick.
10:32 Yeah, lovely little right hook downstairs from Billy Adams.
10:38 Inside the final minute of the penultimate round.
10:40 This one's scheduled for four. It's a blightweight between Upminster's Billy "Boom Boom" Adams on his debut.
10:46 And a significantly older 37-year-old Jofias Foro from Oldbury in the West Midlands.
10:52 And this is another round where Adams has been slick and he's been accurate.
10:56 He's put his punches together impressively as we move into the final 30 seconds of the third.
11:01 A little bit better from Foro actually in court.
11:06 Adams there with a couple of shots.
11:08 Adams just making a mistake of just holding his feet slightly there.
11:12 He's caught there towards the end of this round.
11:14 So better work from Foro.
11:16 But Adams again gets on that front foot.
11:18 Puts things right there.
11:20 Better shots from him.
11:22 Looking to finish this round really strongly here, Billy Adams.
11:28 And I think Foro is happy to hear the sound of the bell.
11:33 Okay, this weekend is the Grand Prix of Valencia.
11:36 Coverage continues tomorrow at 8.45 on TNT Sports 2.
11:40 And Suzy Perry leading our coverage.
11:43 Well, you may have a fight there, but we also have a battle on
11:48 because MotoGP this year has gone down to the wire.
11:53 Francesco Brugnaga against Jorge Martín.
11:56 This weekend we are in Valencia for the final showdown.
12:00 And we will bring you all of the drama live on TNT.
12:04 Don't miss it. The gloves are off.
12:06 Thank you, Suzy. So that's all to come over the next couple of days.
12:11 8.45 tomorrow morning. Suzy and the team out there in Valencia.
12:16 And he's been impressive over three rounds so far tonight, Billy Adams.
12:21 He says, Richie, that he's experienced this fight.
12:24 Only beat 20-ish bucks in Italy, Finland, Kazakhstan, Russia,
12:28 among other places with the GB squad.
12:30 So he's got lots to lean on, despite the fact that this is the first one in the pro ranks for him.
12:35 He would have experienced so many different styles against those nations that he's boxed against.
12:42 And here he's just, you know, he would have been told that when they turned professional
12:47 that the guys would be a lot tougher, could be stronger.
12:51 You know, you just got to stick to your boxing skills with what he's doing here.
12:56 Took the shots in that last round.
12:59 Correa came back with a couple.
13:01 But overall, it's a good display from him against a tough opponent.
13:05 Just like we said with Charlie Hickford in the previous fight,
13:09 the icing on the cake would be a stoppage if he could get that.
13:13 But as Richie pointed out early, there's not too many for Correa here in the final belt,
13:18 despite the fact that he doesn't win too many himself.
13:21 In terms of putting the punches together, Bowen, looking impressive in there tonight.
13:24 Adams has ticked all of the boxes.
13:26 Best shot of the round so far just earlier.
13:29 Lovely slip to the right from Adams.
13:33 Come back with a lovely hook.
13:35 Good work. That's better.
13:37 Nice right hand, right on the chin as Correa was looking to move away along the ropes.
13:41 Moving towards the midway point of the fourth and final round.
13:48 And Adams continues to find him easily in there.
13:57 Patience is the thing when you're boxing someone like Correa.
14:01 You're strong, tough.
14:03 You hit him in with shots.
14:05 You can get a little bit frustrated.
14:07 You've just got to be patient and just keep pecking away with that jab, with that left hand.
14:12 This is good stuff here from Adams.
14:14 And just watch out for the odd shot that comes back from Correa,
14:18 because he looks still like he could produce maybe a shot here and there.
14:22 You can find the ambition later in the fight.
14:24 He's in survival mode pretty much from the opening bell.
14:27 And again he's putting those punches together in bunches.
14:30 Billy Adams.
14:32 Good shot right hand from Adams.
14:36 Correa though showing a real determination in there to try and see this one out.
14:40 It's a good long right jab he's got, that southpaw jab.
14:45 It looks a good weapon. He's got quite a good long reach at this weight.
14:48 He's quite tall and rangy at light weight but uses his lead hand very well.
14:53 Shows his international amateur pedigree.
14:56 With that punch most certainly.
14:58 But yeah he's enjoying himself now so it's a good display.
15:02 And Correa there coming back with the odd shot also.
15:07 Fair play to Correa in there.
15:12 Still trying to land punches of his own despite the fact he's being completely outclassed in there by Adams.
15:18 Yeah he's a tough lad isn't he?
15:20 No doubt.
15:22 Still in there.
15:23 Good shot.
15:24 He's come back with a couple in this round but there's only one winner here.
15:28 Yeah there's the final bell.
15:29 And it's a good night's work.
15:31 A good debut for the 20 year old from Upminster, Billy Adams.
15:36 Who as we said with Charlie Hickford in the fight before didn't do anything wrong in there at all.
15:40 I think overall you know his corner, his father would be pleased with that display.
15:45 Lovely boxing skills.
15:47 He's showing people that he's got a lot of talent.
15:49 Good variety of punches with the uppercuts and then the jab especially.
15:54 The right hooks.
15:56 This was towards the end of the contest now where he's just trying to maybe force a stoppage.
16:01 But he's not falling in on his work so he's not crowding himself or anything like that.
16:07 Measuring that distance and gap with those straight jabs.
16:10 So yeah overall good display from him.
16:17 So the referee is ready and so is Dev Saini to give us the official result here at York Hall.
16:24 Ladies and gentlemen after four rounds of boxing your referee Mark Bates scores the contest 40-36 to your winner.
16:37 And successful on his professional debut.
16:43 Billy Boom Boom Adams.
16:50 So that's exactly what Billy Adams was hoping to hear tonight.
16:55 He won all four rounds and won them in a battle.
