00:00 This is representative and the new president, Martin G. Morales.
00:05 Let's give a big round of applause here for the speaker of the house.
00:09 Good afternoon everyone and we'd like to introduce one of PTV's great food projects for 2024
00:16 on the occasion of PTV's 50th anniversary.
00:20 And this is a joint project of the People's Television and of course the House of Representatives.
00:26 PTV's initiative proposed by our GM, Anna Huber-Fugita.
00:31 Today is not just an ordinary day.
00:35 Today we embark on a groundbreaking journey and usher in a new era.
00:40 An era where transparency, accessibility and public service are not just the ideals, but the realities.
00:49 It is with immense pride and a sense of profound responsibility that we announce the launch of PTV.
00:56 One might wonder, what's the difference?
00:59 Well, congressional hearings and sessions are shown live on Facebook and other social media sites.
01:06 Our testimony to the democratic ideals we all hold dear.
01:11 But democracy to be truly effective requires the active participation of its citizens.
01:17 It requires an informed populace, aware of the issues, engaged in the discourse and empowered to make the informed choices.
01:27 Congress TV indeed is our commitment to ensure that no Filipino is left in the dark.
01:34 That every citizen is afforded a front row seat to the legislative process.
01:40 Through this platform, we are tearing down the walls that have long kept the inner workings of the legislature away from the public sphere.
01:51 (In Tagalog)
02:20 This is a time where we should all be aware of the fact that we are not losing here.
02:25 And in truth, this is the time when we can make our people's lives more secure.
02:33 But let us be clear, Congress TV is not a one-way street.
02:37 It's not just about broadcasting what happens within the House.
02:41 It is about sparking conversations about fostering a more interactive and participatory form of governance.
02:50 It is about you, the people, having direct access to your representatives and the legislative process.
02:58 As we embark on this journey, I call upon each one of you to engage with Congress TV actively.
03:06 Ask the hard questions, demand accountability, and participate in the great democratic process.
03:15 For in every debate that is broadcast, in every law that is discussed, your voice, your concerns, and your aspirations are indeed reflected.
03:27 I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the teams at PTB4 and the House of Representatives who have worked tirelessly to turn this vision into a reality.
03:38 This collaboration goes beyond the technicalities and the logistics.
03:44 It is a shared commitment to nurturing a more informed, involved, and inspired citizenry.
03:51 Today, as we launch Congress TV, let us remember that this is merely a beginning.
03:58 There will be challenges ahead, but with your support and active participation,
04:03 I am most confident that this platform will serve as a beacon of democracy, a catalyst for change,
04:11 and a cornerstone in our collective journey towards a more transparent, accountable, and inclusive Philippines.
04:21 Thank you all for taking time out today to be part of this auspicious opening.
04:26 Thank you, and may God bless all our endeavors.
04:30 May we live in a better Philippines.
04:34 [Applause]
04:37 So many of our users are complaining that the digital signal of PTV is not enough.
04:44 The signal of PTV is a challenge.
04:48 What is the PTV management doing to resolve this perennial problem of weak signal that you cannot watch in some places in the Metro American nearby provinces?
05:02 I will be frank with you, I am not saying that it is a bad thing or a good thing.
05:08 But it is a beautiful problem.
05:11 I have already mentioned PTV, and that is something that we are addressing.
05:16 PTV should be at the forefront of digitalization.
05:21 We should be the first to show our analog transmitters to the digital.
05:27 And of course, it is a big challenge if we will be supported by the House of Representatives in our replacement of analog transmitters.
05:37 We have a lot of analog transmitters, we have a lot of digital transmitters that we are buying.
05:46 We are doing everything.
05:49 And like what you said in the past, we are trying to become number two.
05:55 I am a conservative, I just want to be number two.
05:58 But my boss says, good luck.
06:00 Even President Marcos, good luck to become the number one PTV.
06:05 So, we are sorry to our opponents, we are not giving up because the target that was given to us is clear.
06:15 And PTV is not stopping, so that we can fight together with other networks.
06:24 On the number two question, of course PTV is now celebrating its 50th anniversary.
06:30 And I know that the programming line of PTV is always like this.
06:34 Presidential coverage, presidential speeches, "Bago ang Pilipinas ngayon?"
06:39 I am always asking these questions.
06:41 And so, government programs, and also black buyers can talk.
06:46 Is PTV open to receiving other entertainment or informational programs as mandated by the new charter of PTV?
06:59 Is PTV open for entertainment programs, real-run, anime, or whatever? Are you open to that?
07:06 I have answered here, but January 31, we are going to launch Unity League.
07:13 It's an e-sports national competition.
07:16 So, we have our first leg, Mobile Legends National Tournament.
07:23 We will give millions of pesos.
07:26 And we are going to ask LGUs to come up with their own e-sports teams.
07:37 And the winner will not only receive a cash prize, but they can also buy to become a national athlete.
07:47 They can become an advanced athlete who will compete in the Philippines in the SEA Games or International E-sports Competition.
07:56 So, it's not the same as what you can watch on PTV.
08:01 But we are that aggressive.
08:03 So, there are other events, and we are also looking at coming up with a breakdance competition for the youth.
08:15 So, because of the private television effort, my appreciation for the role of PTV in the landscape of Philippine television is very crucial.
08:30 Of course, we are not debating on what our charter is, but at the same time, we need to move forward.
08:37 Bye.
