00:32 My name is Corey Jarvis. I am the head of social here at Essence Ventures.
00:37 And the organization, of course, that I belong to, I just want to make sure that we
00:41 clear some things up like straight up front.
00:43 So the organization that I belong to, of course, is the members of the Black and Old Gold,
00:47 the Standard, the Topic of Conversation, the Trend, and the Topic of Everything
00:52 that y'all talking about right now in this video.

01:05 I feel like through life, Alpha Phi Alpha actually chose me.
01:13 I went to an African-centered Shule school.
01:16 So I always used to learn about like Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. Du Bois,
01:19 Martin Luther King, Thurgood Marshall.
01:21 But I didn't know that there was like an inner line like theme throughout like some of those
01:25 greats throughout history.
01:27 So when I got older, I realized that they were all also members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
01:31 Incorporated.
01:32 So it felt like a natural fit for me for sure to join those men.
01:35 I think the proudest moment that I've had is I've had the opportunity to bring in 11
01:43 other Alphas through, of course, like being a dean of two lines.
01:46 So I think through like that and seeing other people being able to also enjoy the experience
01:52 of like brotherhood, scholarship, and service for all mankind and bringing them into the fold.
01:57 To me and my line brothers remain in contact.

02:16 Common misconception that I think people have about the divine line is that all we do is

02:20 All we do is step.
02:21 And it's like that is really not even the core of art.
02:25 I would even say like a tip of the iceberg of what we provide to campuses and then even
02:30 in grad organizations, what we provide to the cities in which the chapters are located
02:35 in.
02:35 So yeah, I think we are a lot more than just that.
