Six people, three men and three women aged between 24 and 32 have pleaded not guilty at a Magistrate's court in Penang to a charge of running an online gambling call centre.

They were allegedly caught promoting online gambling using Facebook, WhatsApp and WeChat on computers and smartphones at a company named Geniebee Sdn Bhd, located at a commercial centre in Jelutong on Jan 16.

00:40 carries a fine of between RM5,000 and RM50,000 and a jail term of up to three years upon conviction.
00:48 Deputy Public Prosecutor Syaira Akilah Khalil had urged the court to impose RM9,000 bail on each accused.
00:56 Mitigating for a lesser amount, lawyers Teh Yi Kai and Ang Shin Lee said based on their clients' backgrounds,

01:07 The court set bail at RM3,000 for each accused and fixed March 11 for case mention, pending the submission of documents.
