A 39-year-old businessman linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd has claimed trial to a charge of criminal intimidation against a woman.

The accused, Mohamad Riza Makar, pleaded not guilty at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court on Wednesday (Sept 18).

00:15The accused is linked to Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings, which is being probed
00:20by police for child abuse and sexual crimes.
00:23The accused allegedly threatened the 25-year-old woman at a business complex on September 9th
00:29for refusing to withdraw her police report.
00:32He allegedly told the woman that they knew where she and her family lives.
00:36If convicted, the accused can be jailed for two years or fined or both.
00:41The accused's lawyer said the offense did not involve serious threats and was not linked
00:45to the Global Ikhwan cases that had grabbed headlines.
00:48However, the prosecution said the offense had affected the victim's mental state.
00:53They said the claim that there was no connection to the cases was untrue, as the accused had
00:58stated he is a member of the Global Ikhwan group.
01:02The court allowed bail at 10,000 ringgit with one surety, asked for the accused's passport
01:07to be surrendered, and required him to report to the police station once a month.
01:13On September 11th, police rescued 402 children from care centers in Selangor and Negri Sembilan,
01:20and they also detained 171 suspects, including a teacher and dorm caretakers.
01:26The police said they are investigating allegations that 13 of the rescued children were sodomized.
