We ask Londoners what they think of the Elizabeth Line - how does the newest line rank?
Transcript
00:00 So the Elizabeth line, it's been up for over a year now, what do you think about it? Do you like it?
00:05 How does it compare to other lines?
00:07 So space wise, in terms of carriage length and everything, I think it's really nice.
00:13 One of my biggest pet peeves about it though is some of the announcements are very, very poor.
00:18 I don't feel that they're regular enough and actually on my commute, I go back to West London, Ealing Broadway way,
00:23 more often than not you'll get announcements cut off.
00:26 For me as a native English speaker I don't think that's a problem,
00:28 but I can imagine there's a lot of people, it goes to Heathrow right?
00:31 There's a lot of foreigners, travellers that will be on those trains probably listening out for announcements.
00:36 Hearing something like, "Please note that Oyster card is not accepted" is, you'd be like, that's not great.
00:44 So I would really appreciate I think a little bit better signature on the line itself.
00:49 In terms of like times and everything, delays, I mean they happen on every line
00:53 and I feel like since we've all come back from the pandemic, every tube line has been suffering.
00:56 So I don't think it's necessarily any worse than any of the others.
01:01 It's definitely a lot quieter, especially coming from, I'm living up North London,
01:06 go through Camden it's quite loud on the Northern line.
01:08 It's great, it's clean, it's fast, it's open, don't feel too congested.
01:14 Yes, yes I do enjoy it because it's the only line I take personally from work because I live in Canary Wharf,
01:20 so from East London, easy connection to here.
01:23 It's normally like the least packed, it's like a bit more on the more expensive side,
01:27 but it's like the only one I use anyways.
01:30 I love it in theory, but I think I've had a delay or something happen every week
01:39 that I've used it since like last November, so it could be better.
01:44 Comparing with the other lines, it is good to travel with the family as well
01:49 and I think it is having the surveillance as well in the train as well,
01:56 so we can go easily without hesitating about anything.
02:01 I would say no, no, really I use it to go down to Shenfield, up to Paddington,
02:09 so really money well spent, there you go.
