00:44 Yeah, the emotions are running high.
00:46 You know, you have that pressure on you,
00:49 especially fighting in your hometown,
00:52 is to get that win and become champion.
00:54 Dlakyan, a seasoned vet.
00:57 This is his seventh World title defense,
01:01 his second consecutive defense away from Kiev.
01:06 His last fight was against David Jimenez in Wembley.
01:09 He won that fight by unanimous decision.
01:13 Now having a defense on the road once again.
01:16 And for Akui, this is his first fight in 11 months,
01:20 but he earned his first title defense.
01:23 He's been in the ring for 11 months,
01:25 but he earned that spot as the mandatory challenger,
01:29 coming off a unanimous decision win back in February of 2023
01:32 against Jason Baszak.
01:33 I really like Dlakyan as a fighter.
01:45 I really like his style.
01:46 You know, he fights with a rhythm and throws punches
01:49 at different angles, moves side to side, moves in and out.
01:53 And I think that's what makes Dlakyan come forward
01:56 so he can't dictate the pace.
01:58 And so far, none of his opponents
02:00 have been able to do that.

02:19 As Akui looks to throw that overhand right,
02:26 and Dlakyan is quite an elusive fighter.
02:28 He has really good footwork.
02:30 He works angles very well, so Akui's
02:33 got to try to learn how to measure
02:35 that distance there quickly.
02:36 Yeah, really good footwork.
02:38 And he does this thing with his elbow that he just did there.
02:41 He'll use his elbow to push himself
02:43 in a different direction or to push himself off of you
02:46 and get a distance.
02:48 Also on the inside, he'll do a little grab and turn.
02:51 And you catch him with his hands down a lot, right?
02:59 It's just kind of how his style is.
03:01 He kind of will lunge in sometimes,
03:02 and he can't get caught.
03:04 But it's really a style that he's become accustomed to.
03:07 And obviously, it's worked so far
03:09 as he's undefeated and a champion multiple times over.
03:12 But it's not really how you would teach.
03:14 Right.
03:15 I say it's how you would teach a fighter.
03:16 Yeah, he has that Ukrainian amateur style
03:20 that has just been brought into the pros.
03:24 You know, they have that awkward in-and-out movement,
03:28 side-to-side movement, hands down, counterpunching.
03:31 And he's perfected that.
03:32 Now it's the Akui corner.
03:33 Akui, too, like the fighter in our last fight,
03:37 comes from a boxing family.
03:39 Both his father and uncle were professional fighters.

12:47 They just got countered there with the right hand by Dlokian.
12:51 >> Maybe try to set up some shots to the body as well at this point.
12:57 >> Really no work invested downstairs from the Japanese fighter through the first three rounds.
13:23 >> Doing a better job here of cutting off the ring, but Dlokian, once he kind of gets back towards the ropes, holding now, now spinning off that exchange, but right back to the red corner.
13:37 >> Yeah, Dlokian -- >> Lunging shot.
13:39 >> Dlokian likes to be on the ropes because he likes to lure you in and counter you.
13:43 And on the inside, sometimes he does either the elbow push or holding on the inside.
13:49 That way he can turn you or get that break.
13:53 >> There's some feints there from Dlokian, something that we thought we should see more coming from Akui.
14:07 >> You can tell that Dlokian has a great sense, too, of distance, right?
14:23 How to just get out of the way of these shots, but still somewhat stay in the pocket to bait you in for that counter.
14:31 >> Yeah, he loves to do that, and he definitely has a good sense of timing and distance.
14:38 >> Good job slipping that shot for Akui, but not effective on the counter as Dlokian throws the left hand.
14:59 >> Just missing with the right for Dlokian.
15:05 A couple shots and then right back out.
15:08 >> And right back to the ropes, where he likes to be.
15:11 >> And missing those big shots like that by Akui can take a toe on your endurance as the rounds go on.
15:25 >> Not a good thing for either fighter who hasn't been very active lately.
15:31 It's not what you want to see, but this is kind of interesting, too.
15:34 I think Akui may be trying to pace himself a little bit as we take a look at the replays.
15:39 There's a beautiful uppercut shot by Dlokian with the right hand, but from what I've seen of Akui in the past,
15:46 he's a fighter that's known for being a pressure fighter and volume punches, a combination.
15:51 We have not seen that at all from Akui.
15:54 >> Yeah, I figured that Dlokian's style would take that away.
15:59 His style is made for a fighter like Dlokian because Dlokian wants him to put the pressure
16:05 and he wants him to come forward because that's the type of fight he wants.
16:10 He wants to dictate the pace and he wants to counter you.
16:12 He wants to lure you in with shots and hit you from weird angles.
16:17 >> Round 5.

16:26 >> Round 5 and the challenger better try to pick up the pace here and get some of these rounds in the bag
16:33 because Dlokian has been able to dictate the pace through the entire first four rounds
16:39 and has landed the more significant shots.
16:42 Even though he's been on the move, sat his back against the ropes, he's been in control.
16:47 And that's a tough thing to do with Dlokian's style after having a long layoff
16:53 is being able to stay on your feet and move like that for an entire 12 rounds each.

17:14 >> It's not enough in terms of an offensive rhythm.

17:26 >> As it gets halfway through the fight, coming forward and missing like this,
17:32 the way Akui is, can get very frustrating and very exhausting towards the middle of the fight.

17:41 >> Love that counter and how he dipped out and got himself in a better position right after that.
