00:00Here is okay, okay.
00:04I give you instruction in the dressing room,
00:06they having a clean match, okay?
00:07Good luck, God bless you.
00:14All right, here we go.
00:15This one's scheduled for 12 rounds of action
00:19in the flyweight 112 pound division,
00:22the second world title defense for Seigo Yuri Akui.
00:26And the first opportunity at a world title
00:30for Tanen Chai Charanpak.
00:34Christina Pontreniko Ali Walsh here with you.
00:36The Ariake Arena in Japan,
00:38the second of four world title fights tonight.
00:43And Yuri Akui goes right with the right hand
00:47to the body to start.
00:49Yeah, Akui's a workhorse.
00:51He's gonna have to just get into Charanpak's grill
00:56early on.
00:58That's how I see him.
01:00That's one of his main keys to victory in this fight.
01:03Akui just staying in his grill,
01:05doing what he's doing right now.
01:08Just that pressure.
01:12Akui has had an excellent 2024.
01:15Kicked off in January when he won the world title
01:18against Artem Delakian.
01:20Backed it up with a title defense in May
01:23and is now fighting for the third time
01:27in a weight class that right now at 120,
01:29excuse me, 112 pounds, Nikko,
01:31that is absolutely on fire.
01:38Akui's looking for,
01:40he's trying to find his distance right now
01:43with that jab.
01:47Down to the body with the right hand for the Thai fighter
01:49and Akui with the strong jab
01:52and you see that awkward uppercut shot there by Charanpak.
01:58Doubling up on the jab.
02:02These guys are more methodical with their punches.
02:04They're looking for clean shots.
02:09Therefore, Akui as Charanpak looks to answer
02:11with a combination and a left hand to the body.
02:16That's one of the biggest things I saw
02:17when doing my research for this fight.
02:20Akui can't leave punches unanswered from Charanpak.
02:25Down to the body, nice shot with the left hand there
02:27for Akui.
02:31Tripling up on the jab, Charanpak.
02:35Charanpak, 25 and one, 15 knockouts.
02:39He won the WBO Asia Pacific Flyweight title.
02:44He's been a pro for about six years now
02:45and he has a pretty good record.
02:47I mean, some of these Thai fighters,
02:49I know they get these inflated records
02:50and it makes them look like they're spectacular
02:53and they really step up in competition
02:54and then it's not really the case.
02:56You kind of see the quality come out,
02:57but he really came over to Japan just 61 days ago
03:01and scored a huge upset victory against Kento Hatanaka,
03:05who was undefeated at the time,
03:07was one of the local undefeated prospects
03:10that people were kind of getting high on in Japan.
03:13And I mean, it was a spectacular performance
03:16and it earned him this opportunity right here.
03:17So you never know.
03:20And kudos to him for taking the opportunity
03:22to fight back-to-back cards here in Japan.
03:24And because of that,
03:26he gets a shot to win a world title tonight,
03:28although a match tough against the champion.
03:30These guys are both trading to the body a lot.
03:42As we look into the Akui corner.
03:49Akui does have two losses on his record.
03:51The first at the hands of Junto Nakatani back in 2017.
03:55And I mean, that's a loss that's aged pretty well.
03:59I would say we didn't know Junto Nakatani
04:01was Junto Nakatani that he is now.
04:03The name didn't carry that much weight
04:05with all due respect back then.
04:08And his skills have just continued to grow.
04:10And as he's gotten more exposure on the world stage,
04:12I mean, I think some serious boxing heads knew,
04:14but nothing to look down upon in that loss.
04:19Not at all.
04:20His second loss, on the other hand,
04:23against Abcde was a little bit tougher pill to swallow there
04:29in October of 2018 when he got knocked out
04:31in the eighth and final round.
04:33In a fight that he was winning on one of the scorecards
04:36at the time of the stoppage.
04:40Slight delay here to start round two,
04:41but he's collected some very solid wins,
04:44including one against Taku Kahara back in July of 2021.
04:51Who he had the rematch with in his last fight.
04:52So he's just gotten better since then.
04:56And it's led him to win a world title.
04:59See what he can do tonight.
05:01He's keeping that pressure Akui.
05:05He's doing good, consistently keeping that pressure.
05:07The only thing he's missing is feints.
05:12I'm not seeing a lot of feints out of him.
05:13That'll make it a lot easier for him to get
05:16on the inside of Charan Pak.
05:18Charan Pak down to the body after shooting the jab.
05:23Strong jab there from Akui,
05:25pops the head back of Charan Pak
05:26as he looks to go down to the body.
05:28He's done more body work than has Akui so far in this fight.
05:34Yeah, they both seem to be targeting the body.
05:37I love when fighters do that.
05:39Especially early.
05:41Yeah, it makes the fight real, real hard for the opposition.
05:52Charan Pak's just able to keep him at bay right now.
05:54Charan Pak's jabs are sharp.
06:00Good combination there from the Thai fighter
06:02as Akui stalking, but not really throwing as many shots.
06:05Lands a straight right hand,
06:06but is countered quickly by the Thai fighter.
06:09That's what I'm seeing out of Charan Pak.
06:11All the punches that Akui's throwing,
06:13he's not leaving unanswered.
06:15After every combination, he's filling the holes
06:18with a combination of his own.
06:20Saved jab to the body from Akui there.
06:30Little sneaky uppercut with that lead left hand
06:33from Akui as he deflects that shot,
06:35but then right through the guard
06:37with the jab for Charan Pak.
06:39Charan Pak's just using his distance very well.
06:42He's got that little bit of reach advantage.
06:45He's using it with those jabs.
06:49Great shot to the body by Akui.
06:51And set up that left hand to finish that combination,
06:54but Charan Pak took that well and came to the body
06:56with the two punch combinations.
07:01Strong jab there from Akui.
07:0330 seconds left here in round two.
07:05This is what you see when guys are at the highest level.
07:09It's so evenly matched.
07:13They're both doing great things here.
07:17Great shots to the body from Charan Pak.
07:23Akui strong with the jab.
07:24Shoots it twice there.
07:2510 seconds, under 10 seconds left here.
07:40I would say Charan Pak is more so targeting the body
07:43than Akui is.
07:51That's a good shot,
07:52even though it didn't land to the body.
07:55When he got that left hand and then the right through,
07:56like quickly.
07:57Yeah, that was a great combination.
07:58Charan Pak's finding success in throwing his punches
08:01at the same time Akui's throwing.
08:04He's able to fill those holes with punches of his own.
08:16Charan Pak's a tactical boxer.
08:17When I was looking at footage of him,
08:19I knew going in that this was gonna be
08:23a thinking man's game going into this fight.
08:26Round three.
08:34As we start round three of this 12 rounder,
08:37and that second round was pretty close.
08:39Some effective, efficient shots landed
08:42from both fighters there,
08:43and that's a solid jab here to start round three
08:45for the Japanese fighter, Akui.
08:47Yeah, Akui's starting quick this round.
08:56Yeah.
08:59As they touch him up after a brief clash of heads.
09:03You know, you can see Charan Pak kind of squares up though
09:06sometimes, Niko, when he throws his shots.
09:08Yeah, it's just being a little bit off balance.
09:11He's trying to throw every shot heavy right now.
09:21Combination with the right hand that landed to the body
09:24for Charan Pak as he's very comfortable
09:27working around that outside.
09:28Yeah, this is his range.
09:31Charan Pak has the most success
09:33staying on the outside like this
09:34and just moving around the ring.
09:36That was a great combination from Akui though.
09:39Yeah, he has no problem fighting off his back foot,
09:42but he is gonna have a problem
09:43if he gets any right hands like that from Akui.
09:45Akui's coming on this round.
09:48He's landing some clean shots.
09:50Yeah.
09:54Looks like he's trying to set that right hand up again
09:57with a throwaway jab to the body.
10:01Well, he's kind of timed
10:02because Charan Pak continues to move towards his right,
10:04which is kind of not what you want to do.
10:06You're not trying to move into your opponent's strong hand,
10:09which is the right hand of Akui.
10:11One thing I'm seeing different here
10:13is Akui is using feints this round.
10:16He's using foot feints and hand feints.
10:26Blocked that combination there.
10:34That was a good shot to the body from Charan Pak.
10:37And then he moves again out towards the right side.
10:39Now stopping and briefly going into the jab hand,
10:43briefly going into the jab hand,
10:45but then back to Akui's right.
10:50Akui's remaining composed.
10:55He's got his game plan.
10:56He's always like that, right?
10:57Though when he fights, it's like he always takes his time.
11:00He never looks like he's in a rush.
11:01He's always very calm,
11:03but he does have a way of finishing fights.
11:07No, all it takes is one punch.
11:08Once he sees that his opponent is hurt, he gets after it.
11:12And I don't mean like finishing,
11:13like every fight finishes in a knockout,
11:15but I just mean like he finishes strong.
11:17Yeah, he finishes the combination.
11:19Yeah, his last four fights have gone the distance,
11:21but he finds a way to win.
11:25Those little exchanges makes a difference,
11:28especially if a fight's close.
11:35That was a good round for Akui.
11:42Yeah.
11:51Yeah, that right hand was finding a home
11:54that entire round.
11:59Has that same shot over and over again,
12:01and then kind of was quick to get it back up.
12:03Yeah, no, that was beautiful.
12:05That was perfect for him.
12:06He threw that right hand and brought it right back
12:08and blocked the left hook.
12:10Akui's family in attendance,
12:12and Akui we've seen in a few of the features there
12:14in Japan as children.
12:39As round four of the scheduled 12 rounder
12:42gets started in Akui,
12:43let's see if he can build on some of the momentum
12:45he had from round three.
12:50Starting off with a jab.
12:52Of course, Chirampak continuing to circle the same way,
12:55kind of fighting around the outside
12:57where he's most comfortable.
13:02Looking to land the right hand to the body of Akui.
13:05Akui started that last round with a lot of feints.
13:08I hope he gets back to it this round.
13:10He was finding a lot of success throwing those feints
13:13and landing combinations afterwards.
13:19And Chirampak wants to plan his feet
13:21and throw when Akui opens up.
13:24Oh, nice left hook.
13:26Go ahead.
13:27Yeah, he's trying to hit in between Chirampak.
13:29He's trying to hit in between Akui's punches.
13:34That's a tricky shot there
13:35with the left hand from Chirampak.
13:41Yeah, Akui.
13:42Slipping and threw two hooks there for Akui,
13:44then a right hand down to the body.
13:46Akui in a good rhythm now,
13:48being more defensively sound here in round four.
13:51This is the fight that Akui wants.
13:52He wants to be trading with Chirampak.
13:56He's most comfortable at the closer distance.
14:03And like you said,
14:03he's just a lot more defensively sound right now.
14:07He's catching all these feints.
14:10These shots, Akui.
14:16Beautiful jabs.
14:23You know, there's a bit more of the feints
14:24you were talking about, Nico, from Akui.
14:27Yeah, that's staying active.
14:28If you're not throwing and you're feinting,
14:30you're still active.
14:34That was a good left hook from Akui.
14:41Good combination of punches there.
14:43Not a lot of steam on him.
14:44And it seems like, you know,
14:45Chirampak has a little bit more behind his punches
14:50than does Akui.
14:52Yeah, Chirampak looks like he's trying to throw
14:56heavy with each shot.
14:58Whereas Akui is just landing the shots.
15:05But those are the shots that hurt.
15:06It's the shots you don't see.
15:07It's not the ones that you're always winding up on.
15:11And again, some consistent body work
15:16from Chirampak here in round four.
15:24Definitely a better round for Chirampak.
15:26Again, to the body.
15:41Chirampak must've thought he won that round.
15:47That right hand again from Akui.
15:51Timed it perfectly when Chirampak threw his right hand.
15:56And a thumbs up from his daughter.
15:58From his daughter, that's awesome.
15:59She likes what she saw.
16:01That is awesome.
16:03Good job with the camera catching that.
16:05Akui.
16:09That's gonna be one of his go-to shots tonight, Akui.
16:13He's gonna have to keep throwing that right hand
16:14because Chirampak hasn't caught on to it yet.
16:17And normally when you're the shorter fighter,
16:19like Akui is, the right hand,
16:22especially the overhand right,
16:24usually finds a home on that taller opponent.
16:31Round five.
16:36As we start round five and a flurry of punches.
16:41And Nico, what adjustments do you think
16:43that Chirampak can make at this point?
16:45What would you like him to see,
16:46like to see him do a little bit more of here?
16:48He's falling into Akui's gameplay.
16:51See that trading right there, Akui loves that.
16:54Akui's winning those exchanges.
16:56He's gotta stay boxing on the outside, Chirampak.
17:01He's got the advantage in height
17:03and a little bit in reach.
17:04He's gotta use that.
17:05He was using the jabs very well in the second
17:09and even in the third round,
17:10but he's gotten a little bit away from that.
17:15He's fighting Akui's fight
17:17a little bit too much right now.
17:21And there's Akui with some good work to the body,
17:23then right back to it, then up top with the left hand.
17:26Chirampak looks to counter with the left.
17:29That's his distance.
17:30Akui loves fighting on the inside like that.
17:33Those left hooks are landing,
17:34those body shots are landing.
17:36Down to the body with the right hand for Chirampak.
17:40Left hook connects for Akui.
17:46Akui looking to cut off the ring a bit better there.
17:50Maybe some more right hands to the body would help.
17:56Chirampak got away from that a little bit.
17:58He was throwing beautiful straight rights to the body
18:01last round and they were landing.
18:03There it was.
18:04There it was, right on cue, Niko.
18:07He's gotta watch out for that left hook
18:08when he's throwing that straight right to the body though.
18:11Just like that, Akui landed it.
18:14Right as you mentioned him,
18:16not really getting that right hand back up
18:19after he throws that straight right.
18:20He kinda brings it down a little bit low.
18:22Yeah, he's dragging it back.
18:27When you got an opponent that's as fast as Akui,
18:30you've gotta be quicker to bring that defense back.
18:36Oh, beautiful slip under
18:37and landing left hand down to the body.
18:42That sneaky right hand just landed for Akui.
18:47Chirampak also landed a right hand to the body.
18:53It looked like he may have been off balance right there.
18:56Chirampak.
18:57Oops.
18:59That was a beautiful combination.
19:04Oh, caught him there.
19:05That was a really nice right hand from Chirampak.
19:08I think their heads clashed a bit on that exchange as well.
19:11Doesn't look like any cuts fortunately
19:13and there's only 20 seconds left
19:15in what has been a really entertaining round five.
19:18Yeah, a close one.
19:23Left down to the body.
19:27Either of these guys can throw that left hook to the body.
19:30That's a beautiful shot for either of them.
19:39Chirampak's raising his hand after every round.
19:42I was gonna say it.
19:42I think he thinks he won every round so far.
19:44Yeah, I think he's trying to trick the judges.
19:46That was a perfect,
19:47that was the left hook that we were talking about.
19:51He threw two back to back, Akui.
19:54Left hook, left hook, and they both landed.
20:05Those are great shots from Akui.
20:21If I was Akui's corner,
20:22I would tell him to continue with the game plan
20:25that he's doing right now.
20:26He's forcing Chirampak to fight on the inside
20:29and every time they do, he's landing those left hooks.
20:35Chirampak just has to stay on the outside,
20:38that mid to long range.
20:43And Luis Pabon
20:48has called time.
20:51I think he was taking his time coming out from the corner.
20:54Okay.
20:54So he was telling him,
20:56you know, when I say it's time to come out
20:57or seconds out, you need to make your way
21:00to the center of the ring
21:01and the corner needs to get off the canvas.
21:05Not sure he understood what he was telling him,
21:06but nonetheless.
21:09We've got a Thai fighter, a Japanese fighter,
21:13and Luis Pabon.
21:14Yeah, that's snap the head back of Akui right there,
21:17of Puerto Rico.
21:21Missing Wiley with the right hook there
21:25as Akui comes back with the left.
21:26He's finding a lot of success right now, Akui.
21:30He's one of those guys,
21:31he has a high work rate naturally.
21:34And when he finds his rhythm,
21:35which it looks like he has,
21:37he's just letting his hands go
21:38and those combinations,
21:40maybe the first two aren't landing,
21:41but the third and fourth are.
21:47And as we're here in round six,
21:48I mean, this is, if you're familiar with Akui,
21:51if you watch his past fights,
21:52he kind of does get his engine going more so,
21:58I would say in the second half of fights.
21:59Yeah.
22:03Oh, he just misses an uppercut.
22:05There it is, Charampak.
22:06He's staying defensively disciplined right now, Akui.
22:10Even on the inside.
22:11Yeah, especially on the inside.
22:13That's his game right there.
22:15Charampak.
22:17Answering back with the left
22:18and Charampak circling back to the center of the ring.
22:21He hasn't spent much time there,
22:22really right in this position here along the outside.
22:25And slipped in that same corner.
22:27Oh, he took advantage of that, Akui.
22:29Smart.
22:34Now you gotta think how this looks to the judges
22:36when Akui is clearly the one
22:38that's putting forward the pressure.
22:42And Charampak, sorry, is playing defensively.
22:52Oh, nice right hand there.
22:54Yes, from Charampak.
22:56Under a minute left here in round six.
23:04Akui charging forward.
23:05Some of these shots, though,
23:06deflected off the gloves of Charampak.
23:12He's getting back to that jab, Akui.
23:19Sends it there to the body,
23:20but right back with the right hand
23:22to the body for Charampak.
23:24See, I thought that was a great shot for Charampak.
23:27That straight right to the body.
23:28It was landing before,
23:29but he kind of went away from it
23:30because he started getting hit with those left hooks.
23:34Bringing his right hand back too slow.
23:41Oh, that right hand landed up top
23:47and then he hooked it around the guard there
23:49at the end of that combination.
23:52And true to form, Charampak, hand raised to the corner.
23:55Hand raised, he won that round.
23:59Or did he?
24:03See, these combinations are landing for Akui.
24:06That pressure.
24:08That was a great right from Charampak.
24:14And kind of sneaky how he takes that lead hand
24:17and kind of bats down the glove of his opponent
24:20and then throws the backhand.
24:24We've seen that in recent fights,
24:27a throwaway shot and then a knockout.
24:29A live look into the locker room of Kenshiro Taraji.
24:35Coming up next,
24:36his fight against Christopher Rosales
24:38for the WBC vacant flyweight world title.
24:42Number one versus number two.
24:45I enjoy watching Kenshiro Taraji fight, man.
24:48I really, really do.
24:49I've called a lot of these fights from Japan
24:52and he's definitely one to watch.
24:55Absolutely, as he tries for a world title
24:58in a second weight class.
25:00And then our main event tonight,
25:01Takuma Inoue taking on Seiya Tsutsumi.
25:06I think that's going to be a really good fight
25:08in our main event.
25:10As they kind of get that corner cleaned up there,
25:13which was the corner that Charampak slipped in
25:15the round before, his own corner.
25:22A nice little breather here for both fighters
25:24as we get to the second half of the scheduled
25:2612 round championship fight.
25:29Definitely.
25:32Stabbed you out to the body for Akui.
25:34Straight to the body.
25:35Yep, right to it.
25:36Straight to the body for Akui.
25:43Right now he's chasing a little bit.
25:45He's not cutting the ring off as well as he was
25:49in round five and six.
25:52Charampak's got some good combinations.
25:55He's a solid fighter out of Thailand too.
25:57And you know what?
25:58He impressed on the area.
26:00He impressed on the Asian circuit.
26:03He's the Asian boxing council flyweight champion.
26:06He's made four successful defenses without the WBO
26:08Asia Pacific flyweight champion.
26:10And you can see why.
26:12He's got some skills.
26:13He really does.
26:13He's not like a Muay Thai fighter
26:15or a fighter of another discipline
26:17that decided to go to boxing.
26:19He is a solid boxer and he's holding his own tonight
26:22against the world champion
26:24in the biggest fight of his career on a world stage.
26:29I mean, he's got good punch selection, Charampak.
26:34He's moving from head to body.
26:39His only problem right now that I'm seeing
26:41is that he's fighting Akui's fight on the inside.
26:45He works beautifully on the outside
26:49when he's jabbing at him.
26:51Landing a right hand to the body like that
26:52and then shooting the right uppercut.
26:53See, that's great.
26:54Look, he's right back on the outside again.
26:56Not getting touched by Akui.
26:59If he maintains that,
27:00he can make the rest of this fight easy for him.
27:04I mean, because really when he throws,
27:05Nico, he's throwing a lot in combinations.
27:07He's not really continuously staying loyal to his jab
27:10while he's around the outside.
27:11Yeah.
27:13But he could just let those hands go.
27:15If you want to fight on the insides,
27:17if that's how Charampak feels comfortable,
27:20let him go and get back on the outside.
27:23Like right there.
27:27He's looking for that right uppercut, Charampak.
27:38And for Akui, I mean,
27:40how about cutting off the ring a little bit better?
27:42Yeah, he's chasing a little bit too much right now.
27:47That's why Charampak's getting away from him so easily.
27:51He's got it.
27:55Under 20 seconds here in round seven.
28:03Akui definitely has won the jab battle, that's for sure.
28:06Yes.
28:07Because he pops another one there.
28:08Definitely a better round for Charampak.
28:16The hand.
28:20The hand.
28:30At Burger King, we flame grill our burgers.
28:33Why?
28:34The slow burn of Popeyes' new ghost pepper chicken sandwich
28:38is scary.
28:41This is some good news, people.
28:43ESPN.
28:45At Burger King, we flame grill our burgers.
28:48Why?
28:49Welcome to the NBA Playoffs.
28:51Come on!
28:54This is Formula One!
28:58Champion, I'm trying to take it up another gear.
29:00I'm trying to take it up another notch at this point, right?
29:02Your challenger has never been on the world stage like this.
29:05Never been in a world title fight.
29:06You can take advantage of that.
29:07You're making the second defense of your world title.
29:10You fought the better opposition as a professional.
29:12What happened that round, Okui got away from cutting off the ring.
29:16He was chasing him too much.
29:18That's a good right hand from Okui though.
29:25Good combination here.
29:27Three left hands and a right.
29:31Stalking a bit more here.
29:33Sense of urgency for Okui.
29:35Good combination culminated with a left hand.
29:38Shropok comes back but not as effective as Okui's been here in the first 30 seconds of round 8.
29:48Tsutsumi.
29:51Tsutsumi. Tsutsumi.
29:56This is when those body shots early on are going to start paying off.
30:01Tsutsumi.
30:04That straight right to the body is landing for Shropok every time he throws it.
30:09Tsutsumi. Tsutsumi.
30:11Tsutsumi.
30:14And right now it just looks like it's a battle of jabs between both fighters.
30:20Tsutsumi.
30:26Tsutsumi. Tsutsumi.
30:28Not a lot of clean punches so far to start this round though for Chironpak.
30:33Tsutsumi.
30:35I mean the aggression is good but it's got to be effective and at least that's how it's supposed to be, right?
30:40Yeah.
30:41I mean you want to make a statement especially if you are fighting the champion.
30:45You want to really, you know, you got to win the judges if you're expecting it to go the distance
30:52which most times when it's this evenly matched, great left hook from Okui, it will go the distance.
31:02Tsutsumi.
31:04He's looking for that uppercut from that rear hand is Chironpak.
31:08Yeah.
31:09It's just missed a few times as he quadruples up on the jab there.
31:13Tsutsumi. Tsutsumi.
31:22Tsutsumi.
31:24Oh, Okui getting caught.
31:25That was a good right hand.
31:27He's getting caught a little bit, a bit more flat footed than what he came out with the round before.
31:32I felt like he had started that round aggressively and was in a good rhythm here in round eight
31:36especially the second half.
31:37I feel like Okui is a little bit flat footed here.
31:44Yeah.
31:45You don't want Chironpak to start gaining confidence now right before the championship rounds.
31:53Oh, nice work with the left hand there downstairs and back up for Okui.
32:02Okui's got a great left hook to the body.
32:06Good shot there.
32:08That was a great right hand from Okui.
32:23At Burger King, we flame grill our burgers.
32:26Why? Because that's how it should be done.
32:28Hot, juicy, smoky, flame grilled and made your way.
32:32Come experience the flame grilled difference with two Whopper juniors for just five bucks.
32:37Arc'teryx.
32:39Worn when it counts.
32:42Outerwear for mountain athletes.
32:50Shop Arc'teryx.
32:53There are some feelings you can get with any sports book.
32:57The highs.
32:58No, no, no.
32:59The no, no, no's.
33:03The oh, oh, oh's.
33:04Now what you want to do with this?
33:10Round nine.
33:17Seiko Okui looking to remain the WBA 112 pound world champion in our very next fight.
33:24The WBA, which is vacant in the flyweight division, or excuse me, the WBC, which is vacant, will be fought for with Kinshiro Taraji and Christopher Rosales.
33:35And then tomorrow we'll see Anthony Alaskaga fight.
33:38He's the WBO champion in the division.
33:40So a lot of action right now at 112 pounds.
33:44He's someone to watch.
33:45Alaskaga.
33:47Yeah, I mean, I enjoy calling his fights as well.
33:50And he's under the tutelage of Rudy Hernandez and who also trains Junto Nakatani.
33:55So oftentimes when you see Junto, you see Anthony and you'll see them both tomorrow night in the second half of our historic event from Japan.
34:06Seven world title fights in two nights and good work here as they go forehead to forehead.
34:13We haven't seen much of this for an extended period of time.
34:17Yes.
34:19Akui was landing some good uppercuts, some short uppercuts in those exchanges there.
34:26Charampak was looking for the home run shot with that right hand.
34:31Down to the body.
34:33Akui with the left hook to the body as well.
34:36Finishing with the right hand upstairs.
34:39Back to the jab.
34:41These guys are going at it.
34:44Nice left hand for Charampak scores.
34:56Akui never forgets that jab.
34:59Even during times like this when it's a lapse in activity, he's always throwing something.
35:06He's always throwing something.
35:11Body work there for the Thai fighter.
35:15He's been consistent with that Niko since round one.
35:18Absolutely.
35:21Neither of these guys have given up on the body.
35:28One-two combination for Akui.
35:30Even just a throwaway jab there to land the right hand like you were talking about earlier.
35:34Yes.
35:36You always want to sneak a heavy shot behind a throwaway.
35:49Good stuff.
35:53Dribbling up on the jab for Charampak.
35:56Dribbling up on the jab for Charampak.
36:01He tries to steal the round sometimes in the last 30 seconds or so.
36:06But that's his shot.
36:09That jab if he just keeps Akui at the tail end of his punches.
36:15I think he believes he won that round as well.
36:19The slow burn of Popeye's new Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich is scary good.
36:24But not scary spicy.
36:26Better try it before it ghosts our menu.
36:28We don't make sense.
36:30We make chicken.
36:49Shop Arc'teryx.
37:14These are the rounds now, right?
37:18The championship rounds.
37:20If Charampak wants to walk out of here as a world champion,
37:24he's got to put these three rounds together right here and
37:29try to land
37:31some significant shots because
37:34Akui has
37:36been, I don't want to say he's been dominant,
37:39but he's had the upper hand in the majority of these rounds in my opinion.
37:42Especially if you are the challenger, you have to pretend like you are down.
37:48There's got to be a sense of urgency here, which we're seeing right now
37:52from Charampak.
38:07He's still going to that body, Charampak.
38:11Work with the left hand for Akui.
38:14Charampak looking to
38:15counter at the same time.
38:17And you know, that's an area where Akui usually excels in
38:21calling some of his previous fights.
38:23He's been a solid counter puncher throughout his career.
38:28But right now, Charampak getting after it
38:31in round 10.
38:34There's that sense of urgency we were talking about from the challenger.
38:39Down to the body with the left hand, twice with the left hand, then right.
38:42Tons of work to the body here in round 10.
38:45Akui hunched over and is looking to hold.
38:48He's winning those exchanges, Charampak.
38:51He is putting in work here in under a minute and a half left in round 10.
38:56That's the urgency I was talking about.
39:01Those shots hurt. I know they don't look, you know, impactful,
39:06but those shots to the kidneys, to the liver.
39:09And consistently, too, as he goes right back to the well,
39:13that side to the belt line.
39:15Counter left hand from Akui.
39:17It looked like Akui was about to take a knee.
39:21Again, to the body, both sides.
39:24As Akui looks to slip the overhand on top.
39:27Those are all legal shots.
39:29Like you said, they're all on the belt line.
39:31Yeah, nothing even close to Luis Pabon stepping in
39:36and saying anything about a low shot.
39:37And he's not really putting a lot into those shots, Nico.
39:41He's not kind of bending down and driving any sort of power from his base,
39:45but he's going there consistently.
39:49Yeah, those kind of shots don't even necessarily need to be hard.
39:54They add up.
39:57Oh, nice left hand to start that combination again from Charampak,
40:01who's having a solid round here in round 10.
40:03Great round for Charampak.
40:18It's a deep.
40:20The slow burn of Popeye's new ghost pepper chicken sandwich is scary good,
40:25but not scary spicy.
40:27Better try it before it ghosts our menu.
40:29We don't make sense.
40:31We make chicken.
40:33We love that chicken from Popeye's.
41:04Those will paralyze you.
41:13All right, well, we wondered if Charampak was going to come out
41:16of these championship rounds with some more authority
41:19to try to become a world champion tonight.
41:23Delivered in round 10.
41:25Can he put two more rounds together like that?
41:27Or will the champion be able to turn it up and find a way to win
41:31like he's done so many times?
41:33In his career, especially coming from behind.
41:37Yeah, these next two rounds will be very important.
41:42For both fighters.
41:44No knockdowns in the fight.
41:46Nobody really hurt that we could tell.
41:50But as you mentioned, the body work has been consistent.
41:56Uppercut for Akui.
41:58Down to the body for Charampak.
42:00There's that left hook again from Akui.
42:14Body work again.
42:16Man, Charampak really just does not quit on the body.
42:19Oh, good combination.
42:21Now he does some work up top.
42:24No, a two left hand score there for Akui.
42:34Akui back to the jab, doubling it up there.
42:41Charampak's got a lot of power.
42:43He's got a lot of power.
42:45He's got a lot of power.
42:47This is a little bit of a slower round for Charampak.
42:54And then finally a right hand behind it.
42:57But, you know, he's through a good amount of jabs,
43:01but never really put the right hand behind it, did Akui.
43:04A little hesitant in rounds where he's kind of got to pick up the punch output, in my opinion.
43:08Yeah. Honestly, it could be either fighter's fight right now.
43:16Dropping jabs from Charampak.
43:21Left hand downstairs, then back up, then tops it off with a jab for Charampak.
43:27Akui comes right back, left hand to the body, just misses with the right upstairs.
43:31These guys are going at it.
43:33A minute left here in round 11.
43:43You know, Charampak is game.
43:44He keeps raising his hands and, you know, doing a little showmanship,
43:50but he's ready to trade. They both are.
44:01Down to the body, he digs again with the left hand.
44:14And we have one more round to go in what has been a back and forth.
44:44Please.
45:05We've got three minutes to find out.
45:08This round right here could determine it all.
45:14Touch him up.
45:21Akui starts popping out that jab.
45:30If I was Charampak's corner, I would say go back to what you did in round 10.
45:36Let your hands go and go back to the outside.
45:40Into the body.
45:42Yeah, he was doing amazing in round 10 to the body.
45:48A leaping right hand there for Akui.
45:51Good combination.
46:01Charampak can't afford to take this round off and cruise around the outside.
46:06He's got to get busy.
46:08Urgency. We need that urgency from round 10.
46:11Akui down to the body.
46:13Back to the jab. Misses there.
46:17Left hand lands.
46:20Both trading hard shots there. Under two minutes left to go in round 12.
46:25And Akui is just active this round.
46:32Down to the body with the right hand for Akui.
46:42Yeah, Akui's activity could win him the round alone.
46:50Doubling off the jab. Landing the right hook. Not much steam on that shot.
47:02Left hook from Akui.
47:05Doubling up on the jab for Charampak.
47:08Yeah, those jabs. And you see when Charampak threw more than one jab,
47:13they were always landing. It was always effective.
47:17Strong jab there.
47:19Again, then his head gets snapped back.
47:23Akui lands the right hand.
47:24He needs to let his hands go right now, Charampak.
47:28Uppercut. Right hand scores for Akui.
47:3130 seconds left in the fight.
47:38Good fight, back and forth. A lot of close rounds to score.
47:43Right hand scores for Akui.
47:4630 seconds left in the fight.
47:48Good fight, back and forth. A lot of close rounds to score.
47:53Right hand scores for Charampak.
47:59Akui slips under. Double left hand.
48:03Yeah, Akui is just too active. He's really letting his hands go.
48:10In true to form, Charampak's got his hand raised.
48:13Believing he's done enough tonight to become a world champion.
48:16We will go to the scorecards.
48:32I believe Akui did enough to win.
48:46Here's some of the highlights from the last round.
48:49There's that right hand.
48:52That land is set up by that throwaway jab.
48:59Couple different looks at it there.
49:04Yeah, I mean, that was Akui all night.
49:08He was the guy putting on the pressure.
49:11He was the guy with the high work rate.
49:16Charampak coming in here at 25-1 with 15 KO's.
49:21Nonetheless, put on a spectacular performance.
49:23Win or lose or draw tonight at a world class level.
49:27And what was a major step up in opposition for him.
49:31He hadn't fought anybody like Sago Akui in his career.
49:34Never mind only his second fight outside of his native Thailand.
49:39Will he get back to back upset wins in Japan?
49:44Or will Sago Yuri Akui walk away still world champion?
49:49Let's go to the scorecards.
49:51After 12 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards.
49:54We have a split decision.
49:57Here are the score totals.
49:59Judging ringside, Robert Hoyle scores the bout 115-113.
50:05In favor of Sago Yuri Akui.
50:10Judging ringside, Guillermo Perez scores the bout 115-113.
50:16In favor of Tananchai Charampak.
50:22And judging ringside, Kwan Ho Jong scores the bout 117-111.
50:30In favor of the winner, Tananchai Charampak.
50:35And still WBA flyweight champion of the world, Sago Yuri Akui.
50:47And Sago Yuri Akui does enough to win the fight by split decision.
50:54And remain WBA flyweight world champion.
