00:00 Is Disney Plus the Netflix and chill killer?
00:03 Not if hip hop has anything to say about it.

00:12 Move over Disney Plus.
00:14 Netflix is still chill with hip hop.
00:15 I mean hip hop loves Netflix.
00:18 Netflix has been mentioned in countless songs by many A-list rappers.
00:22 From Drake to Chance the Rapper, J. Cole, even 2 Chainz came out with a song simply
00:26 called well Netflix.
00:29 Just make a sex tape and put it on Netflix.
00:31 O3 Greedo and Kenny Beach just dropped an album called Netflix and Deal with songs like
00:36 Honey I Shrunk the Kid, Brad Pitt, Dead Presidents.
00:40 You get the point.
00:41 But why is Netflix still chill with hip hop?
00:44 Well Netflix has developed into being a staple of the culture.
00:47 O3 Greedo said that when he used to trap he would watch Netflix while he bagged up.
00:52 Now imagine O3 Greedo watching Frozen instead of like Narcos or something.
00:57 The culture recognizes Netflix and Netflix recognizes the culture.
01:01 With Netflix originals like Umbrella Academy with Mary J. Blige, Dolemite, Dave Chappelle
01:06 and Kevin Hart's stand up specials it's pretty hard to ignore Netflix's presence.
01:11 And Netflix is showing no signs of turning their back on the culture.
01:14 Drake was a huge fan of the series Top Boy which is basically London's answer to The
01:19 Wire.
01:20 When it was about to be canceled Drake actually went to Netflix and told them that he would
01:24 like to bring the series to their platform.
01:26 Now new episodes of Top Boy will be airing in 2020 and Drake will also be working on
01:32 the soundtrack.
01:33 Beyonce's documentary, Travis Scott's documentary, Rhythm and Flow with T.I.
01:38 Chance the Rapper and Cardi B, Hip Hop Evolution with Snoop and Dr. Dre.
01:42 There's so much content to Netflix and chill to.
01:45 And am I the only one who likes to Netflix and chill?
01:48 Hip Hop culture came up with that term too.
01:50 First used in 2009 by No Face Nina on Twitter, African Americans and Hip Hop heads on Black
01:56 Twitter made the term extremely popular by 2013.
02:00 Now Netflix and chill has a whole new meaning.
02:03 Yeah sure Disney+ has 10 million subscribers in a short time.
02:08 Netflix still beats them out with 60 million.
02:10 And with Netflix's ability to go viral with things like Bird Box, Breaking Bad, Orange
02:16 is the New Black don't think for one second that the culture is turning their back on
02:20 Netflix.
02:21 Move over Disney+, Netflix is still chill with Hip Hop.
