Home secretary says demands to replace PM are ‘foolish’

The home secretary says demands by former cabinet minister Sir Simon Clarke to replace Rishi Sunak are “foolish” and would “open the door” for Sir Keir Starmer to become prime minister. James Cleverly tells reporters: "I know Simon very well; I like him and respect him. I could not disagree with him more on this particular issue." Report by Blairm. 00:00 I know Simon very well, I like him and respect him. I could not disagree with him more on
00:07 this particular issue. The Prime Minister has been clear in his plan for government
00:14 to reduce inflation, which is reduced by more than half, to get the economy growing again,
00:21 to stop the boats. And we've seen over a third reduction last year when across the rest of
00:28 Europe those numbers are going up. He is absolutely determined to drive this government further
00:35 in the delivery of the plan. And if we were to do something as foolish as have an internal
00:42 argument at this stage, all it would do is open the door for Keir Starmer, and Keir Starmer
00:47 has no plan, would undo all the good work, take us right back to square one. So I'm going
00:53 to stick with the plan, I'm going to stick with the Prime Minister and I'm going to keep
00:56 working on behalf of the British people. Well, when I've been speaking to voters, as I do
01:02 regularly in my own constituency and others, what they want is to see the government delivering
01:08 on a plan that supports them. That's what they want, that's what we're committed to
01:13 do, deliver the plan, a plan which is working, and not let Labour take us back to square
