00:00 It's raw for the parents, of course it is.
00:02 But it also has an impact on everybody else,
00:05 because even if you're not a direct victim,
00:08 you feel scared going out.
00:09 I mean, I've got a 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl.
00:12 How do you feel when they go out at night?
00:14 I worry, of course I do.
00:15 I think any parent, particularly with teenage children,
00:20 worries about how safe they are on the streets.
00:25 Of course they do.
00:26 I'm not pleading anything special for my children.
00:28 I'm just expressing the sort of concerns of the father,
00:32 which any parent would share across the country.
00:34 But it needs a dashboard that flashes red
00:39 when these cases arise.
00:41 And it needs leadership.
00:42 It needs politicians who say, we're not going
00:44 to talk about this anymore.
00:45 We're going to make it my mission to do something about it.
00:48 And that's the sort of single-mindedness
00:51 that I would want to bring to this,
00:52 if we get the chance to do so.
