00:00 "So how come people know about wizards in the future?"
00:02 "Again, I have to be careful what I say about the future."
00:06 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the storylines, character
00:10 developments and plot points from the original Disney Channel series, Wizards of Waverly
00:14 Place that left us with questions we're hoping the reboot will address.
00:18 "So Alex and Justin get to be wizards and I get the family substation."
00:23 Number 10.
00:24 How did Justin handle being WizTech's headmaster?
00:27 As you'll recall, in a sudden last-minute twist in the series finale, Professor Crumbs
00:32 announces his retirement as headmaster of WizTech.
00:34 "Because of your integrity and knowledge, I want you to take my place."
00:38 "But I'm not a wizard."
00:42 "Well, I think I can handle that."
00:44 He then restores Justin's magic as he declares him his successor.
00:48 "Allow me to introduce Professor Russo, who's taking my place as headmaster of WizTech."
00:55 Now with roughly three centuries of experience, we imagine the old prof knows that Justin
00:59 has the magic touch to maintain the school's esteem.
01:02 Meanwhile, Justin has had plenty of experience dealing with unruly magical teens.
01:07 Let's not forget he did grow up with Alex, but we want to know how he handled a whole
01:11 school of them.
01:13 What kind of leader was he, and what happened that made him decide to give it all up?
01:16 "When I had that college brain in my head, I realized that I knew all that stuff anyway.
01:20 Now it's time to get on with the real learning.
01:23 Medical school, here I come!"
01:24 9.
01:25 What actually happened to Stevie?
01:27 In season three, Alex and Stevie meet in detention, and fans almost instantly shipped their relationship.
01:33 "That's cool.
01:34 It's the quickest way to meet my people."
01:36 "Your people?"
01:37 "Oh, you mean like me?
01:38 Aw, thank you!
01:39 That's so sweet!"
01:40 However, things take a turn when Alex double-crosses Stevie after she unveils her dark side.
01:49 "So what changed your mind?"
01:51 "Nothing changed my mind.
01:53 I set this whole thing up from the moment I realized that Stevie was evil."
01:56 Unfortunately, Max has a little accident that left viewers wondering if that was it for
02:01 Stevie.
02:02 Reportedly, creator Todd J. Greenwald reassured fans that Stevie is well.
02:07 After a stint in soul rehab, she now happily lives in the wizard world with her dogs.
02:11 So the question remains, could we see her again?
02:14 Also, executive producer and head writer Peter Murrieta said that he's disappointed they
02:19 couldn't fully dive into Alex and Stevie's relationship.
02:22 Well, with the reboot on the horizon, it's not too late.
02:25 "What was quite obvious to a lot of us was the relationship between Stevie and Alex."
02:32 "Right?"
02:33 "Right?"
02:34 "But we weren't able to."
02:35 "Yeah, we weren't in that time yet."
02:36 Number 8.
02:37 Were Alex and Mason each other's forevers?
02:40 To say that Alex and Mason's relationship went through its ups and downs would be a
02:43 colossal understatement.
02:45 "It's a magic necklace.
02:47 It only glows when you're in love with the person who put it on you."
02:52 "Oh, well then, I guess it works."
02:56 It was marked by challenges, magical twists, and the complexities of being a wizard and
03:01 a werewolf.
03:03 Despite the hurdles, Mason and Alex's enduring connection is a central theme in the series.
03:07 "We're gonna be together forever and ever.
03:10 So long that I said ever twice."
03:13 "I would never eat my little meatball."
03:17 When we leave them after The Wizard's Return, Alex vs. Alex, it seems like they're finally
03:21 on the path to being endgame.
03:23 So of course, we want to know if they're still together.
03:26 How many more times were they on again off again?
03:29 Have they managed to overcome the hurdles of being from two different magical backgrounds?
03:33 "I have always believed in you.
03:37 Go, Alex."
03:42 Number 7.
03:43 What's Juliet's story?
03:45 Another key relationship in the series is between Justin and Juliet.
03:49 "So it's official?"
03:50 "Not until I write it on the whiteboard."
03:53 "See, some people might find that weird, but I just think it's charming.
03:59 I'll hold the marker cap."
04:01 Like Alex and Mason, they grapple with a vampire-hearts-wizard mix.
04:05 And oh, let's not forget Juliet's history with Mason.
04:08 The last time we saw them, Juliet and Justin had rekindled their romance, but reports about
04:13 the reboot suggest they hit another bump somewhere in the road.
04:16 "Justin, we can't be together."
04:18 "Yes, we can.
04:19 I'll love you no matter how old you are."
04:22 Apparently, Justin is now married to a woman called Giada, played by Mimi Gianopoulos,
04:27 with whom he has two kids.
04:28 Sure, we're disappointed they didn't end up together after everything they'd been through.
04:33 However, we're hopeful the reboot offers closure on their love story and updates us on Juliet's
04:37 life after the original series ended.
04:40 "Oh, Professor Schnuggle-a-boo-boo me cutie-kins.
04:44 I love it."
04:46 Number 6.
04:47 What are Teresa and Jerry doing these days?
04:50 The Waverly Substation is a Russo family cornerstone, where they've been through the best of times
04:55 and the worst.
04:56 "What's happening?"
04:57 "Selling the business."
04:58 "What?
04:59 Why?"
05:00 "Well, I've always loved the Substation because it was a family business, but we're not much
05:06 of a family anymore."
05:08 In the series finale, with both Alex and Justin keeping their powers, Jerry and Teresa tell
05:12 Max that he'll inherit the family business one day.
05:15 "Son, since Alex and Justin are keeping their family powers, I'm passing on to you the family
05:21 business.
05:23 The Subshop is gonna be yours someday."
05:26 Assuming the Substation is still thriving under new management, what's next for the
05:30 Russo parents?
05:31 Early retirement?
05:32 Hands-on grandparenthood?
05:34 Perhaps they'll jet-set across magical realms.
05:37 Two Worlds offers a lot of exploring.
05:39 "Venting to customers about what's wrong with their life."
05:41 "I mean, it's not like I have another daughter I could give my hopes and dreams to, you know?
05:46 Anyway, corned beef?"
05:47 As of writing, we still don't know if Maria Canals Barrera and David DeLuise are making
05:51 a comeback.
05:52 Still, we want updates on what's cooking with Mr. and Mrs. Russo.
05:56 Number 5.
05:57 What's Max like as a business owner?
05:59 Max, ever the out-of-the-box thinker, found his niche at the Substation.
06:03 "I've got this.
06:04 This is all I'm good at and I've gotta make sure you guys don't mess this up."
06:09 As we mentioned, while his siblings got to keep their magic, Max happily inherited the
06:14 family business.
06:15 Given his inventive concoctions from the original series, we'd love to see the weird and wacky
06:20 updates he's given the Substation's menu as its owner.
06:23 Being the only sibling to lose their magic can't be easy, but we'd like to believe that
06:27 for Max, the real magic lies in creating sandwiches unlike any other, and keeping his business
06:33 booming.
06:34 "Max and Justin get to be wizards and I get the family Substation."
06:37 "That's awesome!
06:38 Guess what guys, I get the Substation!"
06:44 Perhaps he even names some of them after the spells he knows.
06:47 They might sound like a recipe for chaos, but that's just Max being Max.
06:51 "What are we doing standing around talking about it?"
06:54 "Oh, come on gravy.
06:56 Come on gravy.
06:57 Come on."
06:58 "That's it, too much!"
06:59 "Ahhhh!"
07:00 "Oh, no!
07:01 That's it, too much!"
07:06 Number 4.
07:07 What happened with the events described in Future Harper?
07:10 In this episode, the Russos find out that Future Harper makes a living from writing
07:13 about their wizarding adventures.
07:15 They also learn that in the future, it's now widely known that magical beings exist thanks
07:20 to one of them.
07:21 "So how come people know about wizards in the future?"
07:23 "Again, I have to be careful what I say about the future.
07:26 But wizards got exposed because someone in this room has a big, big mouth.
07:30 I'm not gonna name names."
07:32 The true culprit remains a mystery.
07:34 We assume these events transpired sometime after the series ended, but we hope the reboot
07:38 circles back to it and ties up some loose ends.
07:41 "I will admit that I had help from one of the most powerful wizards of all time."
07:45 "Me?
07:46 Me?
07:47 Is it me?"
07:48 Like, who actually exposed wizardry and why?
07:49 It's not the first time they revealed themselves, so why did this time stick?
07:53 How did the mortal world respond?
07:55 And what does a world where non-magical folks and magical beings openly coexist look like?
08:00 "If you ever want to write stories about my life and publish them, I give you permission."
08:04 "Why would I want to do that?
08:05 I already know what I'm gonna do in the future.
08:06 I'm gonna run a very successful paint-a-plate business."
08:10 Number 3.
08:11 What's Alex been up to as the family wizard?
08:14 Alex might not always have seemed like the prime candidate for family wizard.
08:18 She could be selfish, irresponsible, apathetic, and careless.
08:22 "I accidentally made my parents not know who I was.
08:26 Or I accidentally got trapped in a horror film.
08:29 Or I accidentally…"
08:30 "Honey, honey, we know you've messed up a lot."
08:32 However, what secured her the title was her big heart and love for her family.
08:36 Selena Gomez is set to guest star in at least the reboot's pilot episode, and we're
08:40 eager to see what Alex has been up to.
08:43 Did becoming the family wizard change her?
08:45 Did it force her to mellow?
08:46 Or did she revert to the same old Alex, but now leveraging her new status over her brothers?
08:51 "My sister would have won the competition.
08:55 She came back to help me."
08:57 Perhaps her powers paved a unique path for her future.
08:59 We just hope she's kept her wicked sense of humor and style.
09:03 "For those people who are after a totally, completely unique look.
09:07 A look so outrageous that only people who have rewired their brain could feel good about
09:11 wearing it."
09:12 Number 2.
09:13 Have the rules on magic and non-magic folk marrying changed?
09:17 Okay, let's say the reboot takes place in future Harper's World, where magical beings
09:21 openly coexist with non-wizards.
09:24 Shouldn't the ban on magical folk marrying mortals be lifted?
09:27 "Well, your dad was always a much better wizard than I was."
09:30 "That can't be true.
09:31 Only one wizard in each family can keep their powers.
09:33 If dad was the better wizard, he'd keep his powers."
09:35 "You never told him, huh?"
09:37 Surely, without the risk of potentially exposing the wizarding world, there's nothing holding
09:41 them back.
09:42 In season one, we learn that Jerry was the true winner of his family's contest, but
09:46 he gave up his powers for love.
09:48 "But wizards can't marry non-wizards.
09:51 So your dad gave Kelbo his powers, so that he can marry me."
09:55 Wouldn't you love to see him finally get some justice?
09:58 He certainly seems more deserving of magical powers than his sister Megan or brother Kelbo.
10:03 Although, that does raise the question, what would that mean for Shakira's career?

10:35 #1 How is the family wizard actually chosen?
10:38 Okay, we need some clarification on what goes on in the wizard competition.
10:53 In the movie, Justin and Alex battle it out in an archaic battleground, restricted to
10:57 magic involving the four elements.
10:59 Yet in the series finale, we get a more game show-like contest with potion making, a "this
11:04 is your magical life" twist and a maze.
11:19 Are these competitions linked?
11:21 Are they looking for different qualities?
11:23 Or was this the writers' oversight?
11:25 Also, what's the deal with the Hall of Transfers?
11:28 We didn't see any Russos go through that.
11:40 Also why the one-person-per-generation rule?
11:43 Sounds like that's guaranteed to conjure up trouble and clearly exceptions can be made.
11:48 If anyone can answer these questions, it's probably Justin Russo.
11:52 What are you most hoping to see on the Wizards of Waverly Place reboot?
11:55 Let us know in the comments.
