00:00 One thing I like about Purdy, I appreciate about Purdy, is he's like almost too honest
00:06 at press conferences. If you ask him, "What did you do wrong in this game?" He'll totally explain
00:10 it. He won't run from anything. It's almost like you're a priest and he's in confession.
00:16 That's kind of how it feels. He's very religious. Maybe he feels he needs to bear his soul.
00:22 So you ask him, "What was the issue against Green Bay?" And from his perspective, he was too
00:26 aggressive. He was trying too hard to fit past his downfield when he should have been taking
00:30 checkdowns. And he said that repeatedly. And I think it's really interesting. Usually,
00:34 quarterbacks don't give... players don't give specific criticism about themselves because
00:38 that allows people to sort of judge them accurately in the future. But he just laid it out.
00:43 I need to check the ball down more, which I think is really interesting. And I blame Ryan Hensley
00:48 for this. He was calling Brock Purdy a Dinkin' Dunk quarterback for a long time. And I think
01:00 Brock got it in his head. He's in the MVP race, not a Dinkin' Dunk quarterback. I'm a gunslinger.
01:08 I'm going to prove it. And I think he's gotten himself in a little bit of trouble the last
01:12 couple of months being overly aggressive. We appreciate that part of his game. But to his
01:18 point, check the freaking ball down. You don't need to prove that you're a gunslinger all the
01:23 time. Just when necessary. You don't want to pull that thing out all the time. Only when it's
01:28 justified. Pause. I know you caught that. Jesus. You got it on you, you know what I'm saying?
01:41 You don't need to pull that thing out. You a wild boy.
01:47 Sorry. I'm sorry. It sounded better in my head.
01:52 All right. So I agree. So with how he played, he was taking a little bit off. Whoa. I was about to
02:03 say. All right. So he was doing a little bit more than he had to do that time. He's not
02:10 necessarily using all of the players, all of his teammates around him. And he was pressing.
02:16 One thing that I will say is that our offensive line didn't do him any favors again. And that's
02:21 something that I give Brock a lot of credit for is that he does get the ball out as such an
02:28 efficient and quick and a quick clip that at times we do forget that we have pretty much one of the
02:36 worst pass passing offensive lines in the league. Right. And we, a lot of that happens when defensive
02:43 lines and defenses start understanding that you have to rush five. We're going to see it again
02:47 this week, guys, Detroit rushes five. That's primarily what they do. And if they're not
02:53 rushing five, they're rushing six or seven. That's what they do. So I'll go ahead. No,
03:00 I'll talk about that in a little bit. Okay. Because we're going to talk.
03:04 The title of the show is how the lines will defend Brock Purdy. And I know that's what they do,
03:09 but they need to figure out how to defend Brock Purdy. So we're going to talk about that.
03:12 Okay. Yeah. Well, I was just talking about, I don't want to step on it. I don't want to step
03:16 on you, but that's what I was talking about from the offensive line. That's their tendency. Yeah.
03:21 That is their tendency. And because of that, because of that Brock does, he does look down
03:27 a little bit. Like he, he feels it. I don't want to say that he takes his eyes off of the,
03:32 he takes his eyes off of the field because that's definitely not what he does. Not at all.
03:35 But he does feel it when that pocket gets, when that pocket gets muddy and he's trying to get
03:40 more bang for his buck because he understands the offense at a very well level. Like he really
03:46 understands that this is one thing that I do see for Brock that I've said in, I've said in
03:50 previous shows is that I scout him out. If he's going to be here, if he's going to be our guy,
03:58 Brock has the potential to be one of the most efficient quarterbacks of all time.
04:02 And because of that, we're going to have to see him take his lumps with his ego,
04:07 because the difference is, is that Brock isn't being reactionary. He's trying to pick his spots
04:12 because he's, he literally knows where everybody is supposed to be. So when he's pressing, he can
04:17 tell you for sure he's pressing because it's up to his discretion or whether or not he wants to
04:21 traditionally go through his reads or if he wants to press. And at times he got himself into some
04:27 bad, he got into, he got himself into some bad spots against green Bay. Yeah. Yeah. I just think
04:34 it's a team's kind of know where he wants to go. Like teams know that he wants to push that ball
04:40 15 yards down the field, down the middle and the checkdown is going to be wide open for him.
04:44 The checkdown is a good option for him. It plays into Ryan Hensley's narrative. It doesn't make
04:49 him look like a franchise quarterback or like an elite quarterback, but it's the right play.
04:55 And it's a smart play on this team. And it's what drew Brees did his whole freaking career.
05:00 So, I mean, I mean, look, we don't need to tell Brock Purdy to do this. He said it, he knows
05:05 that's the best part about Brock Purdy. He knows. And look, look, like compare him to Josh Allen.
05:12 This is an interesting comparison, Brock Purdy and Josh Allen, like on, they're like probably
05:16 opposite quarterbacks, just dead opposites. Josh Allen is the most physically gifted quarterback.
05:21 I think I've ever seen. Brock Purdy for show. But Josh Allen is, it makes is one of the worst
05:28 decision makers. I think I've seen at quarterback. He makes awful decisions routinely. Whereas Brock
05:34 Purdy is one of the better decision makers I've seen in the last few years. He makes excellent
05:39 decisions. So who do you want more? A guy who's physically limited, but makes good decisions or
05:44 a guy who's physically unlimited, but makes bonehead freaking decisions every week. Hard to
05:48 say. Probably Josh Allen. Yeah. But damn dude. Like who can coach that guy? Tough one. Yeah.
05:57 I don't know. One thing that I also want to bring up as well is that, you know, we got outran.
06:03 That's something that's not really being like talked about. We got outran by the Packers.
06:09 They were more dedicated to the run game than we were. And on top of it, Brock threw the ball 39
06:17 times. So for me, I just like to say, I like to see a little bit more of a run game, more of a
06:28 pro because I feel like the run game not only is more of our identity, but it protects Brock.
06:33 Like throwing the ball damn near 40 times for 252 yards. That ain't it. That ain't enough juice for
06:43 the squeeze, man. And I feel like it's like, how you got, you dropped his kid back 39 times and he
06:50 got one touchdown for what? An 86.7 rating. And he threw, he damn near threw two pigs. It's like,
06:56 what are we doing here? You know, I just be a little bit more economic with the kid.
07:01 All right. Let's get some super chats real quick. Phillip Wilson. The deciding factor in this game
07:06 will be every time. I have a strong feeling. Dan Campbell is going to continuously attack him as
07:09 he should. I mean, anyone that does their homework knows you got to, that's, I mean, it's a good
07:14 defense. There's not that many green lights on it. That's one Corey Patterson. I feel they have
07:19 played a lot more conservatively since the Ravens game when they played commanders. It wasn't the
07:23 same and hasn't been since less shots. That's true. Well, that's true. Now it'd be a good time
07:29 to bring it back. Daz says Huff has also given up some big plays overall. The run D needs to be much
07:33 better. True. David Baker. How important is it for our D line to get intense pressure on golf?
07:39 Extremely important. That's like the number one key. Number one key. David Baker coaches,
07:44 right? Better to be proactive than reactive. Coach is always right. I mean, noticed Matthew
07:49 Sanders coach. They needed a 53 yard run to crack a hundred. Just saying. That's so true. I saw that
07:55 super chat coming up, man. That's true.
