Narelle Lawrence shares her battle with ovarian cancer
Wodonga's Narelle Lawrence thought she had a kidney infection; instead in August 2018, the primary school teacher would learn she was in the advanced stages of ovarian cancer. Now she's joining a campaign to raise awareness and funds for Ovarian Cancer Australia.

00:00 It was undoubtedly, definitely ovarian cancer and very quickly everything changed from there.
00:08 I'm far too familiar with ovarian cancer.
00:14 My mum had had ovarian cancer twice and my older sister.
00:18 August of 2018 I thought I had a kidney infection because I had a lot of kidney pain and when
00:27 I couldn't get into a doctor I was told to go to the ER.
00:32 And in the course of that evening it very quickly became obvious to me that it was not
00:38 a kidney infection.
00:39 They had discovered a tumour just kind of near one of my kidneys which was what was
00:46 causing the pain and that was the only symptoms that I actually had had at all.
00:53 I had always expected to have children.
00:57 I'd always been really independent and unfortunately when you're going through cancer treatment
01:05 you can't be independent.
01:06 I'm definitely a roll with the punches type of girl nowadays.
01:12 It's an opportunity to raise more awareness and hopefully help raise more funds and I
01:20 just know myself how much I've got out of that point of contact.
