00:00 The government paused the target of the economy's growth for 2023, which is slower than in 2022.
00:09 It is still possible to be affected by issues and changes in the policy according to NEDA.
00:15 And Maki Pulido was able to talk.
00:17 There is no doubt that the government did not reach the target of this Gross Domestic Product or GDP growth for 2023.
00:28 The GDP growth was 5.6% last year, which is 6-7% above the target.
00:34 GDP is the total GDP of the GDP and services that the country has acquired.
00:39 The GDP growth last year was 5.6% below the target in 2011.
00:44 The impact of inflation of course directly is on the household final consumption expenditure.
00:49 While it grew in the fourth quarter, relative to the other quarters,
00:54 it slowed down, particularly in 2022.
00:59 We saw the impact on food expenditure.
01:04 This is what some of our speakers felt.
01:06 Rice, vegetables, rice, and LPG are expensive.
01:10 The price of rice cannot be increased, so Jing said,
01:13 their rice fields are having a hard time earning.
01:16 We are still paying for rice.
01:20 I am just making ends meet.
01:23 But NEDA is concerned that the economy might be affected more by what is happening in politics.
01:29 Amidst these controversies, the leaders of the Congress and the former and current President's response to the drug issue
01:36 are pushing for a law-abiding legislation.
01:41 For NEDA's Economic Manager, Secretary Arsenio Balisacan,
01:45 any political instability has an effect on the economy because the leaders are refusing.
01:50 We hope that this will settle down soon and then we can get our acts together.
02:01 But I think that I am not really that worried now.
02:06 We want to ensure that stability is maintained because at the end of the day,
02:14 it's what determines major decisions in relation to investment.
02:21 Despite this, the Department of Finance is confident that the economy will recover this year.
02:26 The GDP growth target is set at 6.5 to 7.5 percent.
02:31 For GMA Integrated News, Maki Polido, Katutok, 24 Hours.
