00:00 This weekend, Manila Hustle Season 2 will begin.
00:04 Some of the most important women's teams will play in the 3x3 basketball tournament in Asia.
00:10 Rafael Bantayrel will give you the details.
00:13 Following their maiden season last year,
00:17 this February, the biggest women's 3x3 tournament in the country will return.
00:23 This is Manila Hustle 3x3 basketball,
00:26 where the most talented women's basketball players in Asia are.
00:31 16 teams will play, including 7 local teams and 7 international squads.
00:38 The tournament director, Pichi Cheng Medina, said
00:42 that more fans will be able to watch this second season.
00:45 So last year was really very exciting. We had 12 teams this year.
00:52 But there were a lot of points for improvement.
00:55 So this year we said we're going to improve.
00:57 Our tagline is bigger and better.
00:59 So first things first, we moved to a bigger venue,
01:03 which is double the size of what we had last year.
01:05 So it opens up a lot of possibilities.
01:08 Like we now have a fan zone and then we have a practice court,
01:12 which is very important in improving the quality of the game.
01:16 This year, the competition level is expected to increase
01:19 because foreign teams have been added to the tournament.
01:23 For the Philippine basketball team, Executive Director Erica D.
01:27 This is a great opportunity for the local teams to play more.
01:32 On top of the 9 international teams, most of the local teams also have imports.
01:36 And as I understand it, when it comes to 3x3 basketball,
01:40 that really elevates the game.
01:42 One of the national champions is the third-generation of the GILAS Filipinas Women.
01:48 It is formed by Christine Cayabiab, Mika Cacho, Monique Del Carmen,
01:53 and Camille Clarín of NU Lady Bulldogs.
01:56 So the GILAS Filipinas, the 3x3 program is definitely new.
02:00 They're separating now the 5x5 and 3x3.
02:03 So we're looking to build a good foundation based off of players
02:06 who will come through the program and prepare for longer tournaments.
02:09 So I think having the separate pools and allowing us to compete in local
02:14 and international tournaments will help create a better environment
02:17 and to help bring more success hopefully to the program in the future.
02:21 The Spanish sensation, Ari Jelly, will also play in the tournament.
02:26 She will be the import for the local team, Eurotex Tibay.

02:37 Manila Hustle Season 2 will be on air on Saturday, February 3 and will end on Sunday, February 4.
