00:00 R-A-B-E-S-S, Ravens!
00:06 And it's...
00:09 Playmakers!
00:12 What's going on Playmakers? I'm Torrey Smith and this is BMW's Tailgate Tour.
00:18 For football fans, Sunday is more than just a game. It's an experience that you can't find anywhere else.
00:23 I'm bringing you an inside look at how fans of your favorite team really get down.
00:28 As always, I'm arriving to the stadium in style in the BMW X5 Hybrid.
00:33 I'm very familiar with this area.
00:35 This car is so smooth.
00:37 Effortless, I feel a little power in it.
00:40 You know, we're around people so we're very responsible drivers on this side.
00:44 But, I mean, I feel a lot of power. It's a very smooth and comfortable ride.
00:48 This is the type of ride that my wife would love.
00:52 We made it, we're here.
00:56 Let's go see what these tailgates are talking about.
00:59 Baltimore is playing Los Angeles. Let's roll in the parking lot and get into some pre-game action.
01:05 What's going on, fellas?
01:07 What's going on?
01:08 How you doing?
01:09 Good to see you.
01:10 Torrey, what's up? How you doing?
01:11 What's happening?
01:12 Good, good.
01:13 What's up, Torrey?
01:14 I'm loving the setup, man. Talk to me about it.
01:15 We usually pack up the truck on Friday or Saturday and then he'll drive in from Sparrows Point Edge here in the county.
01:20 I live over in FedHill and I'll meet him here.
01:22 We just have a day. We love coming when it opens and having a good atmosphere for the cheering on the team.
01:27 I was cheering on the first game ever in Memorial Stadium.
01:29 Wow. And what was that experience like for you back then and having the opportunity to come now with your kids?
01:35 Very different.
01:36 We may have had a couple beers waiting for the game back then. Now it's all about family and having fun.
01:41 So this tailgate is bigger than a tailgate.
01:43 No, it's way bigger than a tailgate.
01:45 How long have you all been coming out here at tailgate?
01:47 Altogether 15 years.
01:49 15 years.
01:50 And what do you all look forward to the most?
01:53 Cornhole.
01:54 That they didn't bring.
01:56 They didn't bring today.
01:58 So how did you become a fan?
02:00 I remember the day my grandfather told me Baltimore's getting an NFL team again.
02:05 And the Feral County Times had a big picture of the Raven and I thought that's pretty cool.
02:11 So, you know, fan for life.
02:13 So who's like your favorite player?
02:15 Probably Torrey Smith.
02:16 Oh, maybe the fan could be right here, man.
02:18 Even as a Rams fan, the Ravens fans are great here.
02:21 I have awesome times here.
02:23 I love watching the game.
02:24 It's just so exciting.
02:25 I love the NFL.
02:26 I love the Ravens.
02:27 I love the Rams.
02:28 But, you know, Ravens are obviously a first.
02:30 You grew up in Baltimore.
02:31 Yeah.
02:32 The Rams have been awful for the majority of your lifetime.
02:36 All right.
02:37 And you cheer for the Rams.
02:38 We just won a Super Bowl two years ago.
02:40 So I'm telling you, Cooper Cup, he's getting two touchdowns today, 100 receiving yards and Pukanukuwa.
02:47 What do we have to do to get you to switch teams?
02:49 Give me five million dollars.
02:55 So you're going to be a Rams fan for the rest of your life.
02:58 I got wings, I got burgers, I got sauce, I got pasta salad.
03:01 I got a little bit of everything.
03:02 You did all of this?
03:03 Yeah, I got like 10, 15 people coming over.
03:06 Is this a weekly thing for you?
03:08 Are you always going out?
03:09 Absolutely, yeah.
03:10 My company, we do, we sponsor a lot of our customers come down here, eat with us.
03:14 So we throw a little tailgate.
03:16 What do you think makes a great tailgate?
03:18 What makes a great tailgate?
03:19 Hot food and cold beer.
03:21 Hot food and cold beer all day.
03:23 Y'all know I brought something special for the tailgate.
03:26 You got to come prepared.
03:27 Game day, on and off the field.
03:30 Right now we're actually going to head over to what they call the tailgoat.
03:33 If you are in Baltimore, there's tailgating at every great stadium in this country, on every college campus, every pro campus.
03:43 But the tailgoat is truly a special experience.
03:47 We have to go see this one.
03:49 They put on a major party.
03:50 A lot of fans from different teams come on out.
03:54 And again, it's really a great experience watching them have a great time.
03:57 I've never been on this side of a tailgate.
04:01 I'm not a small guy.
04:02 My legs are long.
04:04 The width here is very comfortable.
04:06 My legs aren't even touching anything on the side of me.
04:10 Seats are super comfortable.
04:12 I'm very impressed with this car.
04:13 Steering wheel is fit for a race car driver, even though we drive the speed limit around here.
04:18 I'm here with John from Jimmy's Famous Seafood, one of the best restaurants in the country.
04:23 Talk to me about the tailgoat.
04:25 It's one of a kind, man.
04:26 It's very special.
04:27 We've been doing it over 20 years.
04:29 Started with 20 people, and now we have 2,000.
04:33 So this is every single home game right here across the street from the stadium.
04:37 What does it mean for you to bring people together?
04:39 It's everything, man.
04:40 Music and sports, food.
04:42 That's everything that everybody loves, so it's a blessing.
04:47 Everyone's really a part of it.
04:48 What does it mean to you when you think about the tailgate experience?
04:52 It's what we look forward to all year round, man.
04:55 There's nothing like it.
04:57 It's a huge part of our culture, and it's something that we grew up on,
05:01 and we're going to pass it on to our kids, and they're going to pass it on to their kids.
05:05 The tailgoat is for everyone.
05:06 I see Baltimore fans.
05:07 I see Los Angeles fans.
05:09 What does it mean for you to create that kind of experience right here at home?
05:12 It's very unique, but I don't think anybody else can pull it off but Baltimore.
05:18 This is Tourism!
05:25 Look.
05:26 Y'all see this rain right here?
05:29 I wouldn't even know it's raining right now based on the energy,
05:32 based on y'all being out here, because I promise you,
05:35 I'm not that good of a fan to be out here in this.
05:37 So shout out to y'all.
05:40 And bring it to energy.
05:41 Y'all be safe.
05:42 Be smart.
05:44 What makes a great tailgate?
05:46 Great food, great friends, and a Ravens win.
05:49 There we go.
05:50 I love it.
05:51 I love it.
05:52 What does tailgating mean to your game day experience?
05:54 Just coming out and having a lot of fun with friends and enjoying people and the company.
05:58 I was going in the store, a white man saw my car, and I got out, and he says,
06:01 "Please tell me you're Lamar Jackson's mother."
06:03 I said, "I can tell you that even if it's not true."
06:05 [laughter]
06:07 Y'all be safe.
06:08 Be smart.
06:09 Go Ravens.
06:10 [cheers and applause]
06:12 We good.
06:13 [laughter]
