00:11 Mapping the March by Snigdhen Dubhattacharya from Outlook.
00:16 A look at a decade of the Hindu Rashtra conferences in Goa
00:20 reveals which of their targets have been achieved and what remains.
00:24 What does a Hindu Rashtra look like?
00:27 How far are we from it?
00:29 Or how deep are we already into the Hindu Rashtra
00:32 now that the Ram Temple is being inaugurated
00:35 on that once disputed Ayodhya land with full state patronage?
00:40 Such questions have plagued many minds
00:43 as reflected in various social media posts in recent months.
00:47 In June 2012, about a dozen functionaries of various organisations
00:52 affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh,
00:55 the parent organisation of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party,
00:59 attended a conference in Goa to discuss establishing a Hindu Rashtra in India.
01:04 The Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Rashtra Adhivetan was the first such event,
01:08 a national conference, for the establishment of such a Rashtra.
01:13 During the conference, Hindutva ideologue Charudatta Pingale
01:17 gave a picture of the Hindu Rashtra as he conceived it,
01:21 from incorporating a subtle dimension in judicial process
01:26 to rewriting Indian history.
01:28 His depiction of a Hindu Rashtra covered almost every aspect of public
01:33 and even private life.
01:35 According to him, the laws in the Hindu Rashtra will look after Hindu interests.
01:41 Religious conversions will be banned.
01:44 Policemen will be devoted to the nation and dharma.
01:48 There will be no reservations.
01:50 There will not be any strikes, protests or rallies.
01:54 Farmers will produce only those goods that aid national progress.
02:00 Strong laws will be passed to check infiltration
02:04 and the borders will be secured.
02:06 Economic policies would be based on Kautilya's wisdom
02:09 and the pivotal point of societal well-being would be dharma, not law.
02:15 For this and more, read the latest issue of Outlook.
