It was voted the best place to live in the UK back in 2015 according to the Sunday times. Moseley has long been considered a hub of creativity and trend-setting in the city. Have recent years been kind to this once thriving area? I'm here to find out.

00:00 We've lived in Moseley for almost 30 years and it's always been a lovely place to live.
00:07 We like the kind of village atmosphere of the actual, you know, this part, the central
00:11 part. We live just about a 10 minute walk away, which is very quiet and very suburban.
00:18 People seem very nice. Clearly Moseley has problems like everywhere does. You know, there
00:22 are people who for no fault of their own are homeless and have difficulties and lots more
00:28 people I think probably are on the streets than they were in 2015. But you know, that's
00:33 not ever caused me any particular problems. And yet we still love it.
00:41 Moseley's a nice place to live. It's multi-racial as well. And I've been here now for 11 years.
00:52 It has changed a lot though, mind. It's coming more up and up. There's a lot of restaurants
00:59 here and there's lots of places to go as well. They're building the new train station, which
01:07 would be even better, you know. And over the last few years, I think it has changed a little
01:12 bit. There's a lot of, how can I say, a lot of discontent people living here because of
01:21 the issues with social people as well, you know, socialising and whatever. But apart
01:27 from that, it's a nice place. You know, I wish if I was staying, this is the place where
01:34 I would stay. But obviously I'm going back to Wales. So, you know, but apart from that,
01:40 I think it's a nice area.
01:41 Oh God, I've been living here since about 13, 15 years. No, no. Oh God. 2004. I don't
01:49 know since then, about around then. And yeah, it's been great. I mean, I haven't left since
01:57 then. So I haven't left since then. Yeah, I've been a student, well I was a student
02:04 when I started, when I began here. And it's just having the nightlife here, having the
02:10 community, I suppose. Sadly, I mean, I'm past the age of like the nightlife. Although when
02:19 I was going to the pubs and going to the eatery, the place right there to the nightlife, when
02:25 I was taking part in the nightlife, it was pretty good. And it still is pretty good.
02:29 It was loads better years ago. Big, big scene, lots of live music, lots of trippy hippies,
02:38 lots of strange mushrooms. Fantastic. And now they're pricing people out the pubs, man.
02:44 Yeah, man, the bars are too expensive. You know, if you ain't got loads of money, it's
02:48 difficult to drink round anywhere except the Witherspoon. So it's kind of gone down in
02:53 that respect. But you know, the crime rate's gone down a little bit. Other than that, should
02:59 have kept it like it was, in my humble opinion.
