00:00 It's not a legitimate separation, but rather a trick of the people who are involved in the fast-paced process of annulment.
00:09 The most common victims are OFWs.
00:12 Mark Salazar is talking about that.
00:14 Let's just call her Rose, not because her married life became a bed of roses.
00:23 In fact, she didn't care about the story of their marriage.
00:28 That's why she asked us to cover up her relationship.
00:31 Parents and relatives forced us to get married.
00:38 We tried to work on our marriage.
00:42 I have doubts about her sexuality.
00:47 I have an emotional need that she won't give me.
00:51 I also have a sexual need in marriage.
00:54 So I thought it would be better if we separate.
00:58 Those like Rose who are broken-hearted and desperate are the target of online annulment scammers.
01:05 I tried messaging that profile.
01:09 I just sent a message.
01:12 I tried to ask if I could make a video call to make sure that I will deposit the initial payment.
01:21 But she didn't want to answer the video call.
01:24 How much should I pay?
01:26 She said it's P65,000 for 3 to 4 months.
01:32 She said that's all.
01:34 She said that she will be a senior.
01:36 It's easy to recognize annulment scammers.
01:39 If they promise a fast and easy annulment, they are scammers.
01:43 Those who promise 1 to 2 months, that's definitely a red flag.
01:48 It's true that 1 to 2 years is fast.
01:52 Sometimes, the process in court takes up to 5 years.
01:55 The second red flag is if it's too cheap.
01:58 If it's less than P100,000, most likely it's a scam.
02:04 The reason why it's expensive is because lawyers go through so much preparation.
02:08 So much has to be done for your annulment petition to be successful.
02:13 The average wage of legit family lawyers is P180,000 in the province,
02:19 while P250,000 to P600,000 in Metro Manila.
02:23 The OFWs are the most favorite victim of annulment scammers.
02:28 They are the ones who immediately bite the promise of non-appearance in court.
02:33 If they say non-appearance, you don't have to worry about it, then that's absolutely a red flag right there.
02:38 That's not a legit lawyer.
02:42 If you're an OFW, you still have to attend the court hearing via video conference in your consulate or embassy.
02:50 It's true that marriage is not like rice that you'll sow when you're pregnant.
02:56 And you should believe that it's not easy to sow.
03:00 If I have even a little doubt,
03:03 "Am I ready?"
03:06 "Can I do this?"
03:08 "Will I be happy with this person?"
03:11 Maybe you should think about it first.
03:13 For GMA Integrated News, Mark Salazar.
03:17 For 24 Hours.
