00:00 >> Go ahead, Chad right here in the back.
00:04 >> Nate, the first half, I mean, have you ever seen anything like that in your life?
00:09 >> No, this isn't like this.
00:12 Stutter for me, I'm like, coach, stutter around the court.
00:16 I'm like another coach on the court.
00:18 So I didn't do my job in getting my team organized and getting my guys involved.
00:22 I feel like I played very selfish tonight.
00:24 So that's on me and that's not us.
00:27 Even if we are making shots, I could create easier shots and
00:31 just provided a spark really in energy and energize our team.
00:35 Just to keep moving forward and play hard even when we went down early.
00:38 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:42 >> Before you come out of the locker room for the game, can you sense from being
00:46 around the guys what their energy is and whether or not they're ready to play?
00:51 >> Yeah, I feel like our warm up wasn't usually how it was, so
00:55 that maybe could have messed up our energy.
00:58 But guys are ready to go, but I just feel like tonight was just,
01:01 it just wasn't our night, the shots weren't falling.
01:04 But that's a reflection of me as well, just again, not getting my team organized.
01:09 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:12 >> Obviously, like you said, this is one of those unorthodox type of games.
01:18 It's just one of those things that happens when you play sports.
01:21 But how do you look at this game, kinda put it behind you and
01:24 not allow it to affect you moving forward?
01:26 Cuz this is a really tough one to kind of get past.
01:29 >> I would just tell the guys, really just take it as a lesson.
01:31 I'm gonna definitely take it as a lesson cuz, like I said, that's on me.
01:34 I'm the point guy, I really gotta organize the team.
01:36 So I'm gonna learn from it and just move forward.
01:39 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:44 >> You said the warm up felt off, why?
01:46 Why did it feel off?
01:48 >> I'd say just we're kinda messing up what we usually do.
01:51 Like we've got a defensive drill and we kinda messed it up.
01:54 And guys have been getting to their spots and we're kinda missing,
01:58 like this guy's supposed to be in the gaps at the beginning, but
02:00 we weren't doing that at first.
02:01 So we just gotta clean that stuff up and just really bring energy.
02:05 Depend, like no matter who it is, like North Carolina, Wake Forest,
02:09 Notre Dame, doesn't matter.
02:10 You just keep bringing energy for every game, the same amount.
02:13 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:17 >> If you could just talk about the, I guess the frustration of the inconsistency.
02:21 You mentioned North Carolina and then a performance like this tonight,
02:24 being inside that locker room.
02:25 Just the frustration that you guys are feeling with the inconsistent ride that
02:29 you're taking.
02:29 >> Yeah, the inconsistency really hurts because we know the team that we could be.
02:34 And that comes from us sharing the ball.
02:36 And I play, I do that the best, I share the ball.
02:39 So me just getting guys involved and kinda leading them to have energy,
02:43 even if it's a lower team game or a higher team game, just keep the same energy.
02:48 Do it all, and I gotta motivate guys to go.
02:50 And that's what can help us be more consistent.
02:55 >> John.
02:55 >> They were probably the most aggressive team I've seen attacking the ball screen.
03:01 And just trying to push you in different directions than Kyle and
03:05 Amari when he was in there.
03:07 Just how do you guys adapt to that and fight through those situations to get
03:11 the offense flowing better so you're not throwing bad passes across bodies and
03:15 things like that?
03:16 >> For that type of coverage they're planning to switch it up with a drop
03:19 coverage right ahead.
03:20 So we have things for both things.
03:22 We either have the short roll or the guy lifts.
03:24 But we just gotta come prepared because just because a team does a different game,
03:27 every game is different.
03:28 So we just gotta know, and we do know, how to attack each coverage.
03:32 So we just gotta come up more prepared.
03:39 >> They did a pretty good job of taking miles out of the game.
03:42 What were they doing defensively?
03:45 He didn't have that many touches tonight.
03:48 >> I would say they were heavy in the gaps, but he could have got more touches.
03:53 But that comes from us not penetrating into the paint and
03:55 kicking out cuz they were heavy in the gap.
03:57 And we had just kept driving and kicking.
03:59 He would have got more touches and more shots.
04:01 >> Anything else for Nate?
04:05 All right, thank you, Nate.
