00:00 Spring may not be in full bloom yet but the Expo 24 trade show is always a sign
00:06 that the holiday season is just around the corner.
00:09 It's looking busy, are you pleased?
00:12 Yeah so far so good we've just about 200 registrations and we've had about a third of those people through the doors already and it's still quite early.
00:20 So yeah so far so good and obviously we're fully sold out with all the stands so yeah it's looking like it's going to be a good day.
00:26 Are the exhibitors happy?
00:28 Those I've spoken to so far yeah very happy and two-thirds from last year so they were obviously very happy last year as well.
00:35 So as we currently stand at whatever time it is half 11 so there's no grumbles yet.
00:41 Now for people that don't know what Expo 24 is, what are you hoping to achieve with this exhibition?
00:49 Yeah I guess it's twofold really so for the exhibitors and for the stand holders it's an opportunity to meet customers on the coast
00:56 and for people in business on the coast it's an opportunity to meet suppliers who want to deal with you.
01:01 So we sort of think of it as if you come here today you'll meet suppliers that will pretty much cater for all the needs of a business on the coast.
01:09 We've got some good speakers as well so some education pieces, learning about the Towns Fund and some grant availability as well.
01:16 So if you're in business on the coast you'll definitely pick up something if you pop along here today for an hour or so.
01:22 And also it marks the fact that we're not too many weeks away to the caribbean parks opening and everything starting.
01:30 Yeah absolutely and Easter's early this year of course as well so yeah everyone's gearing up for the season.
01:35 But again it's also about businesses maybe that aren't necessarily in the visitor economy there's other offerings here today as well.
01:40 So you know the visitor economy has been massively important to us but we are open for other businesses like this as well.
01:47 Hello Chris from Batemans Brewery we're happy to be at Expo 2024.
01:52 If you're around please come and join us for a beer.
01:54 We are showcasing our new Batemans 5G which celebrates our 150th year anniversary.
02:00 Look out for the beer it'll be available mid-March.
02:03 We're on the Turner Price stand and the Mayor is about to sample some bubble tea.
02:11 Now I understand that bubble tea has become quite crazed tell me about it.
02:17 New lately from the east it is infused tea syrups which are
02:23 there's that one there which is jasmine tea which is infused with passion fruit.
02:30 It's all the trend with the Instagram children.
02:34 So we've got a bit of a passion fruit syrup in.
02:39 We'll put some sparkling water in.
02:44 You can make it with still water, sparkling water or you can actually make it with milk because it is actually a real tea.
02:51 We'll add our bubbles because this is where the bubble for the bubble tea comes from.
03:03 That's your bubbles. You add your flavoured tea.
03:08 There you go Mr Meach.
03:20 Right, just arrived here in the Expo today and what do I find?
03:26 We've had this Turner Price straight at the entrance and I'm now testing a sample from the chef.
03:33 OK, so a deciding moment what do you think to it?
03:38 It's something different. Very nice. You'd have to try it.
03:42 Well I will.
03:43 Well everybody will have to try it.
03:44 I know.
03:45 It's something different.
03:46 OK, so it's a yes from you.
03:49 Well it's a yes from me and a no from nobody else.
03:53 (laughing)
