00:08 I'm the Avatar.

00:12 - The story of "Avatar" is an epic fantasy
00:15 set in a world inspired by Asian folklore and legend,
00:19 and the people of this world
00:20 can manipulate the four classic elements
00:22 in a process called bending.
00:24 - There are four nations--
00:26 the Air Nomads, the Fire Nation,
00:29 the Earth Kingdom, and the Water Tribe.
00:32 - The four nations used to live in harmony,
00:34 but everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
00:37 - Have I not led us to the brink
00:38 of bringing the entire world under one rule?
00:41 Our rule.
00:43 - Innocent people are gonna die!
00:45 - That's what it means to fight a war.
00:46 - And the only person that could stop them is the Avatar.
00:49 - Where is the Avatar?!
00:51 - The Avatar, if you've seen him around,
00:54 he's the little bald kid with the arrow.

01:21 - My name's Gordon Cormie, and I'm gonna be playing Aang.
01:24 He's a fun-loving 12-year-old
01:26 who has a responsibility that he doesn't really want.
01:29 How am I supposed to figure out how to save the world?
01:32 - But imagine what'll happen if you don't even try.
01:35 - My name is Gowandeel, and I play Katara.
01:37 She's a beginner waterbender,
01:38 and she will fight to the ends of the Earth
01:40 for the people that she cares about.
01:42 We do have a duty, and it's to protect Aang.
01:45 - My name is Ian Owsley,
01:47 and I will be playing Gran-Gran.
01:49 No, I'm just kidding. I'm playing Sokka.
01:51 He's given this responsibility by his father
01:53 to protect his village,
01:54 and he learns that you don't have to be a warrior
01:58 to be a hero.
01:59 - I am Prince Zuko.
02:00 I'll burn this place to the ground.
02:02 - My name is Dallas Liu, and I am playing Zuko.
02:06 He is on the search for the Avatar.
02:08 - You're an enemy of the Fire Nation.
02:10 - He's just trying to fight for his father's attention
02:14 and his approval, but his uncle,
02:15 he's the only person that stuck by his side.
02:18 - My name is Paul Sung-Hyung Lee,
02:20 and I play Uncle Iroh on the show.
02:22 He is a very complex character.
02:24 He treats Zuko like his son.
02:26 - Have you got a plan yet?
02:27 - The plan is to go in and capture the Avatar
02:29 once and for all.
02:30 - So no plan.
02:31 - I'm working on it, Uncle.
02:34 - Having a predominantly Asian group of people
02:37 both in front of and behind the camera
02:39 is significant.
02:41 - For the longest time as an actor of color,
02:43 you don't get opportunities
02:44 to play in these kinds of franchises.
02:46 You have no idea how important that is
02:48 and how many more voices people will find
02:51 because of this.

02:56 - I hope that fans say
02:57 this is the live-action adaptation
02:59 that we've always wanted.

03:02 - Shooting this show has been
03:03 the most memorable experience of my life.
03:06 - It's not the power inside.
03:08 What matters is the heart.
03:09 - It's coming out of a place of love
03:11 for who these people are that we're playing.
03:14 - It just felt surreal getting to work with people
03:17 who are so passionate about this project
03:19 and really doing it justice.
03:21 - We didn't make something that sort of alluded to it
03:25 but only took the title.
03:27 - We made "Avatar" the last airbender.
03:30 - The world is on fire!
03:32 People are dying!
03:33 - There's a whole new generation of fans
03:35 waiting to be introduced to this incredible world.
