00:00 Haya went to the homestead and brought back a Hewitt. Here's your look at the
00:04 brand-new Haya toys the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 Leatherface.
00:27 After picking up a traumatized young hitchhiker, five friends find themselves
00:31 stalked and hunted by a deformed chainsaw wielding loon and his family of
00:35 equally psychopathic killers. This new 1/18 scale Leatherface stands at 4.33
00:40 inches tall with 15 points of articulation. All details based on the
00:44 Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Faithfully reproduces Leatherface's hair and his
00:48 mask from the 2003 film. I wouldn't even worry about that hitchhiker. I'm sure
00:51 Sheriff Hoyt is helping her out. Before of course we get a closer look at the
00:54 brand-new Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 Leatherface exquisite mini. I'd like to
00:57 send a big thank you if I can to the folks over at Haya toys that were kind
01:00 enough to provide this early sample we could have a look at. Leatherface is
01:03 small but he more than makes up for it in the details. The figures are actually
01:06 only about four inches in height or about 10 centimeters tall. Not the first
01:11 chainsaw wielding maniac that Haya toys have tackled. In fact sliding over the
01:15 2003 Leatherface we can bring in the one from Netflix. That figure was
01:19 fantastic. It was actually a second release of him as well that came in
01:22 with a severed head but if you had the chance to get your hands on that
01:26 Leatherface you know how good that figure is. From a size standpoint even
01:30 though they're technically of the same size or same character you can see
01:33 though that there are about the same height to one another. Although notably
01:37 the shoulders are a lot higher on the Netflix version than the 2003. As for his
01:42 accessories the 2003 Leatherface does come in clear with the display stand. If
01:46 the display stand does look familiar to you it just happens to be the one that
01:50 we also got from the Netflix release of him. The placement of the peg is exactly
01:54 the same. In fact actually if you even look at the scratches they're placed in
01:57 the same place. Placed in the same place as the flooring one we got from before.
02:01 This also benefits one thing I can also show you guys in this review because the
02:04 figures all you already know by now with Haya toys exquisite minis you get these
02:08 little eye brackets that if you have more than one display stand simply just
02:11 take the eye brackets and fit them in between but there are grooves little
02:15 indentations you can see there's a slot slot slot slot. You get the idea. You
02:19 just take those plug them where you want to put them and then you just take more
02:22 than one display stand and you just fit the two together so you get yourself
02:26 more than one because of course they are using the same coloring and the same
02:30 pattern work of flooring it looks like they actually belong a part of the same
02:33 line. The only thing I will say though is that 2003 does have notably a little bit
02:37 more of a darker color right here but on that it's pretty much the same floor and
02:41 of course being the fact that the figures also have pegs provided on the
02:44 bottoms of their feet you can get Leatherface in a much more interesting
02:47 pose than him just standing straight like this. Something I was expecting I'm
02:50 not even gonna say it yet I'm gonna say yeah the figure comes included with two
02:53 gripping hands the figure already has technically gripping hands so I don't
02:57 know why they would have included a second pair other than just giving me
03:00 the option of then losing them I haven't lost them yet they're still here yeah the
03:05 figure already has gripping hands technically on the ends of his forearms
03:07 so I feel almost by including extra hands like this it's only really just
03:11 jinxing the person behind the camera to lose them but it also just seems
03:14 unnecessary like I feel like the plastic used for these hands could have not just
03:19 been dedicated to something else instead because again he already has them on the
03:22 ends of his forearms means he already has the means to grip and hold the
03:26 included sledgehammer. The sledgehammer has a very long pole here that's done
03:29 mostly here in a brown plastic you see though the end of it has a little bit of
03:34 rusting to it boy does that look nice I'm sure it's rusting and it probably
03:37 has nothing to do with someone's brains I possibly be brains I don't know you
03:41 can take though the sledgehammer and easily fit into his hands this has been
03:45 his elbows first just take the sledgehammer slide it in between his
03:49 hands slide it into his hands you're not gonna be sliding necessarily in between
03:52 his hands just slide it in there and Leatherface has the means to bash
03:56 somebody over the over the head and spill their brains everywhere boy this
03:59 just quite a morbid review so far I'm sure it's gonna get more morbid as the
04:04 figure also comes and clues his trusty chainsaw the chainsaw if you were to
04:07 think that it was the same one that we got here from the Netflix release I
04:10 think the teeth are the same although obviously you can look at one one's much
04:14 brighter of a silver there's also a lot more blood on this one this chainsaw
04:18 being a little bit more rusted also has a lot less blood I think they are the
04:22 same though and if you were to look at the front of the chainsaw they clearly
04:25 have molded differently so they're not using the exact same body of the
04:28 chainsaw one is obviously a little bit more of a darker red this one here based
04:32 more on the 74 is a more brighter color kind of like an off greenish yellow and
04:37 again he has the means to wield this the unfortunate thing about these with the
04:41 figures only having just a single hinge possessed on them is the fact that if
04:45 you look at them he only has really here's the only thing I'm I can tell you
04:49 right away the only thing I'm a little bit bothered by the release of the
04:51 23rd 2003 Leatherface if you compare him with the Leatherface I feel like they
04:56 took a bit of a step down when it comes to his posability the one from Netflix
05:00 actually has a double hinge on the elbow so you get much more range of motion
05:04 where you can actually properly wield the chainsaw with this one great-looking
05:08 head sculpt even though it's weird the fact that Leatherface literally just
05:11 would have just licked I guess the mask and just stuck it on his face anyways
05:16 though he had at least a double hinge on the elbow I wish the same could be said
05:20 for the 2003 Leatherface but it doesn't seem to be the case he only seems to
05:24 have what I'm guessing only be a single hinge in his elbow so that does limit a
05:28 little more of the mobility when it comes to his elbows you just can't quite
05:31 bend them the same way that you could have bent the Leatherface from of course
05:35 the Netflix Texas Chainsaw Massacre film I don't know why other than maybe just
05:38 because they have the sleeves down here like this that they had to do away with
05:41 one articulation point they probably could have put there's a hinge there but
05:45 if you moved it just up a little bit further neighboring next to it they
05:48 probably could have put a secondary hinge right there so the figure would
05:51 have actually been able to bend in two places but yeah you only can seem to be
05:55 able to bend him in one place and just in one area of the elbow head sculpt
05:59 wise getting a closer look at the 2003 release always been a big fan of the
06:04 remake Texas Chainsaw Massacre and even really Texas Chainsaw Massacre that the
06:07 new the beginning was both great superior films I haven't watched well I
06:11 did watch the one Leatherface film I started it and I just turned it off it
06:16 wasn't my wasn't my thing I don't really like to keep continuing to go back to
06:19 tell a backstory this character especially when you want to start the
06:22 backstory with him being a kid not my thing I did like Texas Chainsaw 3d
06:27 though I don't know if that just means I have to cap well you already know my
06:31 feelings when it comes to Texas Chainsaw Massacre films I love the next
06:34 generation so maybe I should already be handing in my Texas Chainsaw Massacre
06:38 fan card head sculpt wise though I really like the way that this one
06:40 delivers it darker colors of course for his face the skin by now looks like it's
06:45 just been like it become moldy and it's just gross and discard disgusting and
06:50 gnarly he has all these neat little kind of stitches and staples mostly stitches
06:54 all across the top where basically it's just taken multiple layers of skin and
06:58 just sewn them all together it's a departure obviously from the one that we
07:01 got here sorry not to startle you a departure obviously from the one we got
07:05 here from Netflix where it's literally just one piece of skin that he just
07:08 drapes across his face it's mother's skin which makes no sense at all by how
07:12 much skin he's able to stretch across his own face but yeah this Leatherface
07:16 from the 2003 film what I really liked about it was that the skin looked like
07:20 it was decaying you can still see there's eyes still inside of there and
07:23 the paintwork on this piece for such a small figure is really nicely done right
07:28 down to the fact that he actually did paint and sculpt the teeth hair of
07:31 course nicely sculpted and captured the way it looks in the film he's a brute in
07:35 the 2003 film which sort of did start the trend I know a lot of people really
07:38 like the idea that he was more of a timid character but like Leatherface in
07:41 the 2003 remake was just a beast his his apron he also has as you can see it just
07:46 move it up a little bit here is tied off here it's a slightly off colored brown
07:50 it isn't obviously the same apron that you would have had I I don't I don't
07:53 want to keep comparing the one from Netflix because it's two differently
07:56 designed Leatherfaces but again like if you were look at the bodies who dropped
07:59 him if you look at the bodies yeah the shoulders and the placement of his torso
08:03 is a lot higher on the newer release or on the newer Netflix released in the
08:07 2003 other than that though I mean really nicely detail I mean you get all
08:11 the little stripes there on a discolored shirt he's got the turt tie there
08:14 underneath of course it's very long apron and underneath he's got it also as
08:18 his boots what one thing also I really like about the pants is at least unlike
08:21 the elbows I couldn't say that he had double hinges in his elbows I can't at
08:24 least say it for his knees although I would prefer if given the choice I would
08:28 have had more double hinges on his elbows and I've been fine just with
08:31 single hinges on his knees I don't expect this guy to be running although
08:34 he does run quite a lot I would rather if this guy just would have had single
08:38 hinges here and then use the additional funds to produce it double hinging on
08:42 his elbow because again like it just doesn't make any sense why they would
08:45 have not just put a double hinge there especially if this guy's gonna be
08:47 wielding his chainsaw for the figures articulation starting first with his
08:51 head sculpt leather face head is on a ball joint so it very easily rotates all
08:55 the way around the head looks down quite easily and up and back and forth if you
08:59 can get underneath the apron the figure also has a ball joint in his torso the
09:03 arms rotate all the way around there are little hung up at times when you try to
09:07 rotate them around the torso they also do split out easily at 90 degrees but
09:11 again like looking at the arm while there is a swivel right here still I
09:15 would have forfeited the swivel in favor of a double hinge it really does make
09:20 the figure suffer just a little bit by not according not giving him the proper
09:24 double hinge that the figure rightfully deserves it does have a swivel here also
09:28 I guess the swivel would be in the bicep swivels in the hands rotate them all the
09:31 way around the legs do split out limited a little bit by the idea that of course
09:36 he's encased by his apron so you can only really hinge the legs out so far
09:39 they come forward they come back there's a slight swivel at the top of the thigh
09:44 double hinge on the knee and then there's the articulation here for the
09:47 ankle back and forth the only thing I would really say is a takeaway from all
09:51 this get the chainsaw I mean this whole time of talking about a chainsaw wielding
09:54 maniac I haven't even yet put the chainsaw in his hand but the chainsaw
09:58 the plastic at least for his hands is soft enough I mean that can also be a
10:01 detriment too because it makes things a little harder for him to wield the
10:04 chainsaw I would have almost said in a case like this while I love the look of
10:08 him from his execution of the way they put in the articulation points once
10:13 again bringing back in the Netflix release of him though many would say
10:16 really I might even also agree like the Netflix pales in comparison with the
10:21 beast of Leatherface that we got from the 2003 remake film I feel like
10:25 unfortunately the Netflix Leatherface has better afforded articulation in his
10:30 elbows I would have almost even said like to include these extra hands that
10:33 just feel like an unnecessary use of plastic I would have rather spent the
10:37 plastic to produce these extra hands and not in fact given him a double hinges
10:41 double hinges in his elbows instead despite his lacking articulation in the
10:45 elbows at least the 2003 Leatherface can still wield his chainsaw he may not be
10:50 able to bend it any further than what I've got right now but wouldn't that be
10:53 just a big bummer if you got the chainsaw with the figure and then he
10:56 wouldn't even have the means to hold his handles but yeah he can just not easy
11:00 that's all I don't know why again Haya opted not to include a secondary hinge
11:05 in his elbows it may have something to do with the way they've sculpted the
11:08 figure I know he's not designed the exact same way with a similar shirt to
11:12 the Netflix release of Leatherface but you would think that they could follow
11:15 suit and use the same articulation points he has it in the knees they could
11:19 have also given him something similar in the elbows as well now this guy is
11:23 getting released the first quarter of 2024 price point for most of the online
11:27 sites that have the pre-order showing this guy at $19.99 not a bad price at
11:30 all if you're still still on the fence of getting a smaller scale line like
11:34 what Haya toys is producing hopefully reviews like this can kind of nudge you
11:38 in the direction if you are a horror fan some great stuff we're getting here I
11:41 mean obviously we already got the Netflix whatever your feelings may be
11:44 about the Netflix Texas chainsaw masker but I think we can all agree the one
11:48 that the Leatherface we got from Haya is again a fantastic looking figure for its
11:51 size the one that we get here from 2003 a little bit more towards the
11:56 traditional look to Leatherface although this Leatherface in the remake was just
11:59 an absolute monster it translates very nicely to a figure although again I just
12:04 wish that the figure had some additional articulation in his elbows what do you
12:07 guys think of the 2003 Leatherface let me know down below in the comment
12:10 section is this a figure you guys could see yourselves picking up big thank you
12:13 once again to the folks over at Haya toys that did provide this sample like I
12:16 said it is gonna be released the first quarter of 2024 so if you're looking at
12:20 the calendar right now I'm still looking at an outdated calendar that's been
12:22 outdated for the last four years we are actually in the first quarter as it is
12:27 right now so if you're already looking to pre-order this guy he probably should
12:30 start to show up in many online sites pretty soon there is also going to be a
12:34 previews PX exclusive I don't think is adding anything different I'm just kind
12:38 of looking at the listings online and it looks to be just the case that they're
12:42 adding additional blood I don't know if he's actually gonna get any other
12:45 additional accessories that weren't already present with this one but yeah
12:48 if you guys are interested this guy is a listed at least right now as a pre-order
12:52 also I could probably throw this out to you guys the viewing audience considering
12:56 we are talking about Texas Chainsaw Massacre and all what's your favorite
12:59 Texas Chainsaw Massacre film I know I know I would already have said Next
13:03 Generation and probably a lot of people start throwing turnips at me that's one
13:07 of my favorites what's yours is that the 2003 remake or we just beeline it back
13:11 to the 1974 classic which one is your favorite well obviously we're gonna be
13:15 looking at a whole bunch more horror reviews so if that's the kind of thing
13:18 you'd like to come back to this channel for just know we may be wrapping up
13:22 things right now for a high toys release of Leatherface but I have a sneaking
13:26 suspicion we may look at some other Leatherface reviews in upcoming videos
13:30 so make sure you're coming back here on a regular basis as always guys thanks
13:33 for watching see you guys next time
13:37 you
