00:00 Hi, it's Richard from the Yorkshire Post Features team here to take you through a few things
00:04 happening this week. The York Vic Viking Festival traditionally takes place during February
00:09 half-term and is a favourite for parents to take their little ones on an adventure which
00:12 is both fun and educational. It runs for the whole week from today through to Sunday and
00:17 is a city-wide festival that celebrates York's Norse heritage. There's lots to do and the
00:22 challenge is often to see whether you can actually complete all the events. There's
00:25 an opportunity to meet Vikings camped out in the city centre and see their crafts in
00:30 action. Probably the most popular event will inevitably be Pooh Day at Dig. The biennial
00:35 will be after Gala takes place on Thursday at the recently opened Peninsula Hotel in
00:38 London. The evening features live entertainment, appearances from special guests and a charity
00:43 auction full of unique items and experiences. It aims to raise money to level the playing
00:48 field and provide opportunities for all talented people regardless of life experience to pursue
00:53 a career in the screen arts. Guests have purchased tickets costing up to £1,000 for the event
00:58 which is now sold out. There's two by-elections also on Thursday. The contests were triggered
01:03 by the recall of Peter Bone in Wellingborough and the resignation of Chris Skidmore in Kingswood.
01:08 Chris Skidmore's seat near Bristol has a Conservative majority of over 11,000 but was held from
01:13 1992 to 2010 by Labour and Peter Bone's seat has a Conservative majority of 18,540.
