Hungarian and Polish farmers stage protest on border with Ukraine

Farmers have been protesting across several member states over low-cost imports of Ukrainian and Moldovan produce and EU green regulations.

00:12 union who is also an MP of the ruling party Fidesz. The protesters blame the EU for the
00:18 difficulties faced by Hungarian farmers. They are against the European Commission extending
00:24 the duty-free import of Ukrainian and Moldovan agricultural products for another year.
00:30 Polish farmers are also angry at the flood of Ukrainian agricultural products into the
00:53 local market. Farmers blocked roads and border checkpoints with Ukraine, complained about
00:58 the lack of profits from farming and livestock, as well as the lack of government measures
01:02 to protect their livelihoods.
01:18 This general strike is due to last 30 days. According to local reports, there were more
01:23 than 260 blockades across the country.
