Asus Zenbook Duo Laptop Review

The Asus Zenbook Duo is back and bigger than ever. Gone is the gimmicky second touch display that squishes the keyboard and touchpad down, and in its place is a second 14-inch OLED display — taking the dual-screen concept and making it better for $1,499.

00:00 Hello, I am the Awfully English Jason England and...
00:04 [Record Scratch]
00:05 Well, look, let's be honest.
00:07 I could go on for hours about all the laptops Asus has announced over the past few weeks.
00:13 But let's be honest, there's one pretty tall laptop that you're probably quite keen to see.
00:21 And that is the brand new Asus ZenBook Duo.
00:25 Yes, that tiny display is gone and it's replaced with a secondary 14-inch display.
00:31 What do I mean?
00:32 Well, it takes a fair bit of inspiration from the Lenovo YogaBook 9i and does a fair bit of it better.
00:40 Now, I've tried the ZenBook Duo in the past from that tiny display at the top of the keyboard.
00:46 And while it's a good idea on paper in terms of making the most out of that laptop, it just felt a bit gimmicky.
00:54 For example, if I wanted a full dual screen use with one laptop display on top of the other,
00:59 I could just flick out the really strong kickstand on it and lay it vertically in front of me and just start typing away.
01:06 While also distracting myself by having the GTA 6 trailer running on the top screen for the, I'm going to say, 75th time.
01:14 If I just need to do something quickly on my laptop, I can just have the keyboard plugged in via the pogo pins
01:20 and it folds flush just like a laptop and it actually feels pretty thin as well.
01:25 Or maybe I don't even need the keyboard altogether.
01:27 I can just use multi-touch gestures, bring up the keyboard and also a touchpad as well.
01:33 And all of this is possible with the keyboard deck having its own battery, Bluetooth connection and a USB-C port inside it for rapid charging.
01:42 And alongside that, you'll find two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI 2.1 and a USB Type-A port on the laptop itself.
01:51 And all of this technology, including the two 14-inch displays, all of the internals, comes in at just shy of £3,
01:57 which is several hundred grams lighter than past ZenBook Duo models.
02:02 So what's the catch?
02:03 Well, it's not really a catch.
02:06 It's actually more good news because while the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i comes in at £1799 and it comes with the previous generation Intel processor,
02:17 this comes with the latest, the Intel Core Ultra Meteor Lake chipset and it starts at £1499.
02:25 Now, for a dual screen laptop, that is a mightily competitive price point.
02:30 But we'll save all of our opinions for the full review, but I'd love to know what you think.
02:36 So go ahead and let us know in the comments.
