00:00 I'm Sheila Monika. I'm... if I still have to introduce myself to you then you need to find me online.
00:05 I got a lot that I do.
00:06 What I did was I literally took the elevator up to the 19th floor when you were still at Laundro House
00:13 and I said, "Hey, I've got a great voice and I can do commercials."
00:16 That's how I got my foot in the door with radio.
00:19 Most people still think, "Oh no, you must have known someone to know someone."
00:22 But no, I literally just went and said, "Hey guys, I've got a really good voice."
00:26 And then I got a voice test done and the rest as they say is history.
00:31 But right now it's even bigger. It's not just about showing up to a radio station anymore.
00:36 You can use your social media platforms, tag your favorite stations.
00:39 And I think lots of stations are always on the lookout to see who's hot, who's new, who's got something to say.
00:46 And the one thing about radio that I'm so grateful for is I was able to have time
00:52 to grow with my audiences and to grow my audiences.
00:56 Now it's a lot harder, I get it, because it's so fragmented.
00:59 But at the end of the day, real calls to real.
01:02 Deep calls unto deep. You cannot be somebody else.
01:06 You can only be yourself.
01:07 And believe me, when you're 100% yourself, your tribe is going to find you.
01:11 And they're going to find you a lot faster than when you start trying to sound like someone
01:16 or you start trying to be like somebody else.
01:19 If you're not ratchet, don't be ratchet.
01:22 If you're not sarcastic, don't be sarcastic.
01:24 If you're funny, be funny!
01:26 (upbeat music)
