00:03 Is Maryland the only state that is trying to geotag campuses
00:09 in college from sports betting?
00:11 Because I guess I'm not understanding this.
00:13 Because if kids are in college, there are some, if not a lot--
00:18 maybe some kids just want to stay in college forever.
00:20 They're way over 21 years old.
00:21 But there are kids who are 21, right, who can legally bet.
00:25 So what's going on here?
00:28 Yeah, I mean, think about Van Wilder.
00:29 How many years would he have under his belt
00:31 to be betting on campus right now?
00:32 Look, this is an overreaction to what has happened in Iowa,
00:37 in my personal opinion.
00:38 In Iowa, you had a couple of different athletes
00:41 caught betting.
00:42 And so, yeah, maybe the easiest way
00:46 is to say, look, let's just lock down campus.
00:48 Let's put up a geofence so none of these can work on campus.
00:54 And look, this is the first that we're
00:56 seeing from a state that's offering this,
00:59 that's suggesting this.
01:01 I don't think this gets passed.
01:03 But it could, right?
01:04 I mean, you're not always talking
01:06 about the most educated people in sports betting
01:10 when you're talking about the legislatures
01:12 around the country that are making these decisions.
01:16 And so if you get the right people
01:18 and they're banging the right drums, saying the right,
01:22 let's face it, scary words, this could pass.
01:25 And it could become something that other states do.
01:29 I hope it doesn't come to that, right?
01:32 We have to do a better job.
01:33 The sportsbooks have to do a better job of making sure
01:36 that they're following up on potential sketchy accounts.
01:42 That includes when you have an account in one name
01:45 and a payment method in another name.
01:48 That wasn't necessarily scrutinized as much
01:51 as it should have been in Iowa.
01:52 So this is really overkill.
01:54 But it's something that the industry needs to wake up
01:57 and say, okay, look, we need to make changes
02:00 before others make the changes for us.
