Ranger and Transit Custom get motorsport-themed changes and "enhanced driving experience."
Ford Pro has unveiled the two newest models to join its M-Sport Road Technology (MS-RT) sub-brand dedicated to motorsport-inspired commercial vehicles.
The Ford Ranger pick-up and Ford E-Transit Custom electric van feature MS-RT variants with motorsport-themed designs, improved payload capacity and an "enhanced driving experience".
The second generation of the T6 Ford Ranger received the MS-RT version for the first time. Powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, it produces 236bhp and 442lb ft of torque, and its drive is managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The biggest changes were made to the Ranger's design; This design features a modified front part with an integrated splitter and honeycomb grille. The brand says the design is inspired by extreme Ranger racing trucks from Asia.
Other changes have been made to the Ranger's lowered stance, while the rear bumper includes an integrated diffuser, a ducktail spoiler and a cabin spoiler; Ford Pro says this helps improve stability and aerodynamics.
The width of the Ranger MS-RT has also been increased by 82 mm and the track width by 40 mm. It is equipped with the largest wheels ever fitted to a Ranger produced; A 21-inch diamond-cut set with 275/45 R21 tires.
The MS-RT shares the same all-wheel drive system as the standard Ranger, but its suspension has been modified. Same one-tonne payload capacity and 3.5-tonne towing capacity.
Inside, there are more supportive, heated seats, animal-free 'eco-leather' and blue stitching matching the MS-RT logo. Standard equipment also includes dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and a rearview camera.
